Throughout Your First Year Experience IU is a program to help you get involved in events with emphasis on arts and culture, diversity and inclusion, community service and leadership, academics and careers, and personal well-being. Welcome to Indiana University Bloomington! Use this list of events to explore the campus and meet other new students before Welcome Week starts. OIS and FYE thank all of our campus and community sponsors and partners for their generous contributions to these events. Welcome Week officially begins on Wednesday, August 17. August 5 IMU Late Nite-Rio Summer Olympics 7:30pm Indiana Memorial Union, Whittenberger Auditorium Watch the Opening Ceremonies for the 2016 Olympic Games!

August 6 Vendor Fair 11am to 1 pm Indiana Memorial Union, Georgian Room Connect with cell phone providers, banks, and other vendors that will help you prepare for life as a college student.

August 8 Shopping Trip 4pm to 6pm Visit local Bed and Bath store to get everything you need for your residence hall room. OIS staff and volunteers will be at pick-up and drop-off locations to help guide you.

Hoosier Festival 5pm to 7pm Willkie Auditorium This carnival-style event incorporates food, fun, and games to help you connect with different departments around campus and learn about opportunities and services available.

Carnival Games and Picnic 7pm to 9pm Wright Quad Swing by the Wright Quad courtyard to challenge your friends with IU trivia, win prizes, and grab a bite to eat!

Pokemon Glow Night Walk 8:30pm to 10pm Residence Halls Looking for that elusive Pokemon? Meet people and make new friends as you take a poketour of campus. Glow sticks will be provided to light the way on your quest to be the very best.

August 10 Resource Fair 11am to 2pm Herman B Wells Library Learn about local and campus services available to you. Ice Cream Social 5pm to 7pm IU Auditorium, North Side Meet new friends and enjoy some free ice cream provided by Bloomington’s own Chocolate Moose. BBQ 7pm to 9pm Read Hall, Kinsey Hollow Head over to the Kinsey Hollow at Read for some great conversations and delicious food!

SRSC Sneak Peek 4 pm to 6 pm Student Recreational Sports Center Explore the Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC) and the many programs offered by Rec Sports. IMU Open Bowling and Billiards 7pm to 10pm Indiana Memorial Union Enjoy free bowling and billiards at the IMU.

August 13 Shopping Trip 11am to 3pm If you’re looking for new outfits, school supplies, or anything else you might need for your room, this trip has you covered! Join OIS staff and volunteers on a trip to the local mall. Karaoke Party 5pm Teter NST Invite new friends to join you while you sing along to some of your favorite tunes.
