Communication isn’t just talking. Most of what you’ll learn and use to get things done comes from listening to what others are telling you. Test for understanding to be sure you actually heard what you thought you heard and interpreted it correctly. If you possess these skills, you have a significant advantage in personal relationships. No matter how little time your family has together each day, if you are really talking to each other and listening to each other, you are a world ahead of your neighbors in maintaining balance in your life and in your relationships. Whether in writing, networking, performing or job seeking, just remember the art of communicating is not a wasted task. It makes the difference between success and failure.

www.ivaradiotipsandtactics.com 5 Job Hunting Tips to Find Success in 2011 Hunting for jobs nowadays is a very competitive and sometimes cut-throat affair. Here are a few tips to help you get the edge in searching out and landing the job of your dreams.
The Resume The resume is the first, and at most times the most important part of applying for a job. Since potential employers have to whittle down practically hundreds of applications to a few valid ones, they will have to base their narrowing down efforts using the resumes they have collected. Studies have shown that about half of the employers decide to accept or reject job applications based on the related work experience listed in the resume. A third of the employers decide to reject or accept these job applications based on the layout design of these applications. 1. Make Your Resume Stand Out When preparing your resume, make sure your resume stands out among the rest. It should be the type that is appealing to the eyes, making the evaluating personnel want to read the resume. Step two is for you to make sure your resume lists the related work experience you have had in relation to the job you are applying for. 2. Make Your Resume Concise and Relevant Avoid making your resumes too long. It may make it irrelevant to the evaluator. Remember that the employer is a person to whom time is important. If your resume shows that you value his/her time while showing the most relevant information in the least amount of time, you will have won one important battle. 3. Always tailor your resume to the job. You may have had previous experience that may not be related to the job you are applying for. Some people keep many different versions of their resume for different job opening purposes. Make sure your resume is appropriate for the job. A one-size-fits-all resume may not be the best way to go since the employer will have the impression that your previous efforts have not been focused enough to produce any specialization on your part. 4. Write about your achievements You may add your achievements, but make your statements factual and relevant. It does not do harm to advertise yourself, but make your advertisement matter-of-fact and not just hot air. You may want to skip on listing your weak points as the resume is not the avenue for such discussions. 5. Polish Your Resume Your employer will know if you have put enough time producing your resume. If he/she sees that you have put sufficient and thorough effort into your resume, he/she will assume that you will do the same in your work. This is a big plus for you. It is not uncommon for some people to spend days or even weeks polishing and buffing their resumes. www.ivaradionetwork.com

Sell Yourself and Be Your Own PR Agent To excel in any selling situation, you must have confidence, and confidence comes, first and foremost, from knowledge. You have to know and understand yourself and your goals. You have to recognize and accept your weaknesses as well as your special talents. This requires a kind of personal honesty that not everyone is capable of exercising. In addition to knowing yourself, you must continue learning about people. Just as with yourself, you must be caring, forgiving and laudatory with others. In any sales effort, you must accept other people as they are, not as you would like for them to be. Our society is predicated upon selling, and all of us are selling something all the time. We move up or stand still in direct relation to our sales efforts. Everyone is included, whether we're attempting to be a friend to a co-worker, a neighbor, or selling multi-million dollar real estate projects. Accepting these facts will enable you to understand that there is no such thing as a born salesman. Indeed, in selling, we all begin at the same starting line, and we all have the same finish line as the goal - a successful sale. Most assuredly, anyone can sell anything to anybody. As a qualification to this statement, let us say that some things are easier to sell than others, and some people work harder at selling than others. But regardless of what you're selling, or even how you're attempting to sell it, the odds are in your favor. If you make your presentation to enough people, you'll find a “buyer” or new “employer”. We're all sales people in one way or another. So whether we're attempting to move up from forklift driver to warehouse manager, waitress to hostess, salesman to sales manager or from mail order dealer to president of the largest sales organization in the world, it's vitally important that we continue learning. Selling is challenging. It demands the utmost of your creativity and innovative thinking. The more success you want, and the more dedicated you are to achieving your goals, the more you'll sell.

When It Comes to Women in the Corner Office, The Smaller the Waistline, the Higher the Salary. Superskinny Minnies (weighing about 25 pounds less than the norm) earn about $15,572 more per year than women of average weight. That’s according to a study published recently in the Journal of Applied Science and a separate study led by the University of Florida. Meanwhile, unlike their female counterparts, thin guys get the short end of the stick. Skinny guys earn about $8,437 less than men of average build. Granted they are still earning more than any size women. These studies only stress the inequality society has placed on women and men. Women that mimic living mannequins by being 25 pounds under weight are paid more simply to be looked at. Not because they can do the work. However, the same doesn’t hold true of men, and they are promoted and get more pay than any woman no matter their level of expertise or time on a job. It’s time for a different way of thinking and to make some changes in the way things are done in the corporate office.

In these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet with just one source of income. Thus, more and more people are investigating the possibilities of starting their own extra-income business. Most of these part-time endeavors are started and operated from the comfort and privacy of the home. Most of these people are making the extra money they need. Some have wisely and carefully built these extra income efforts into full-time, very profitable businesses. Others are just keeping busy, having fun, and enjoying life as never before. The important thing is that they are doing something other than waiting for the government to give them a handout; they are improving their lot in life, and you can do it, too! The fields of mail order selling, multi-level marketing, and in-home party sales have never been more popular. If any of these kinds of extra income producing ideas appeal to you, then you owe it to yourself to check them out. But these aren't the only fields of endeavor you can start and operate from home, with little or no investment, and learn as you go. If you type, you can start a homebased typing service; if you
have a truck or have access to a trailer, you can start a clean-up/hauling service. Simply collecting old newspapers from your neighbors can get you started in the paper recycling business. More than a few enterprising housewives have found success and fortune by starting home and/or apartment cleaning services. If you have a yard full of flowers, you can make good extra money by supplying fresh cut flowers to restaurants and offices in your area on a regular basis. You might turn a ceramics hobby into a lucrative personalized coffee mug business. What I'm saying is that in reality, there's literally no end to the ways you can start and operate a profitable extra income business from your home. The first thing you must do, however, is some basic market research. Find out for yourself, first-hand, just how many people there are in your area who are interested in your proposed product or service, and would be "willing to stand in line and pay money for it". This is known as defining your market and pinpointing your customers. If after checking around, talking about your idea with a whole lot of people over a period of one to three months, you get the idea that these people would be paying customers, your next effort should be
directed toward the "detailing" of your business plan. The more precise and detailed your plan covering all the bases relating to how you'll do everything that needs to be done - the easier it's going to be for you to attain success. Such a plan should show you start-up investment needs, your advertising plan, your production costs and procedure, your sales program, and how your time will be allocated. Too often, enthusiastic and ambitious entrepreneur jump in on an extra income project and suddenly find that the costs are beyond their abilities, and the time requirements more than they can meet. It pays to lay it all out on paper before you get involved, and the clearer you can "see" everything before you start, the better your chances for success. Now, assuming you've got your market targeted, you know who your customers are going to be and how you're going to reach them with your product or service. And you have all your costs as well as time requirements itemized. The next step is to set your plan in motion and start making money. Here is the most important "secret" of all, relating to starting and building a profitable homebased business, so read very carefully. Regardless of what kind of business you start, you

Specifically, you must not count on receiving or spending any money coming in from your business on yourself or for your bills during those first six months. All the income from your business during those first six months should be reinvested in your business in order for it to grow and reach your planned first year potential.
Bahamas or Hawaii and collect or receive regular income from your initial efforts. For more details on market research, business planning, advertising, selling, order fulfillment, and other aspects of home-based businesses, check with the distributor from whom you received this report.
Once you've passed that first six months milestone, you can set up a small monthly salary for yourself, and begin enjoying the fruits of your labor. But the first six months of operation for any business are critical, so do not plan to use any of the money you business generates for yourself during that period. If you've got your business plan properly organized, and have implemented the plan, you should at the end of your first year be able to begin thinking about hiring other people to alleviate some of your workload. Remember this: Starting a successful business is not a means towards either a job for yourself or a way to keep busy. It should be regarded as the beginning of an enterprise that will grow and prosper, with you as the top dog. Eventually, you'll have other people doing all the work for you, even running the entire operation, while you vacation in the

Freelance Writing Doing extra work is the way to go in this day and age especially if you want to earn an extra amount of money. With the rising prices of food and other basic commodities, it is not surprising that the trend is becoming the rule now rather than an exception. And more and more people are actually looking for additional sources of income especially if you have many mouths to feed. Most are now working for more hours than they should be, holding more than one job at a time. Some who have to render long hours of time in their regular work, use their day off or the weekends to do some extra work. Some work on the local cinema or mall for a few hours while others do some babysitting on the side after office hours. One of the alternative for people who wish to make extra money is to do freelancing. Most say that freelancing is actually better than holding part time jobs. This is especially true with writers by profession who can actually make use of their talent and their expertise to earn extra pay. Writers are very much in demand these days because of the rising demands for their services in websites. Writers are needed to do online content and to update websites in order to boost site visits and viewerships. The pay is oftentimes better and the hours are not so long. Some even do freelancing for full-time. But before you decide to venture into the professional world of freelance writing, read on. Below are some of the advantages that freelance writing jobs have.
time period. Often freelance writers will be given a specific time period in which they can finish the assignments. The shorter the time period given, the higher the pay. In fact, they can actually negotiate for the pay if the assignment is a rush one. Because of the flexible hours, freelance writers can do several assignments in one day and accept more than one freelancing assignments at one time. This will mean higher income for them and of course no stress to do finish the job. This of course will depend on how you will manage your time.
Family matters Freelancing is also a viable option for people who can have to take care of children or who need to do something for the family. This is especially true with women who need to be at home to take care of the children. Freelancing is a good option to earn money and still stay at home. After all, you can just write almost anywhere.
Training while earning Compared to other part time jobs that you can do, doing freelance writing jobs will allow you to use what you are already doing. Presents in December
Taylor Golonka the CEO of Unsigned Radio Lounge is coming to IVA Radio Plays to talk about the music industry and how he’s created a new business model for the music industry for unsigned artists. With CD sales down and major labels losing money on the old traditional streams of income, Unsigned Radio Lounge has created a new platform for unsigned artists to make money with their music. The organization is an Internet radio station and music rights company for unsigned and emerging music artists from all over the world. Two years ago, Taylor Golonka was at one of those proverbial crossroads in life. Having been the victim of the changes of the music industry as an individual DJ/music producer after a decline in music sales, he faced the decision of creating new ideas to make streams of income for unsigned music artists. Building partnerships with companies to cobrand their products with free downloads of music to help companies reach their demographic music market. Unsigned Radio Lounge also does video content of interview and shows in Hollywood, CA of Unsigned Radio Lounge artists. And the most important one of all is there are no fees for the artist 36 | IVA Radio Network eZine December 2010 / January 2011
and all non-exclusive deals. He has looked at all the music social communities and found that most only have one stream of income. Advertising. He has created new and additional ways to make money with unsigned music and some of these are music placement, In-Store Streaming, Ringtones, Co-Branding products with music, electronic products pre-loaded with unsigned music and many other creative ways thinking outside the box. Unsigned Radio Lounge is that platform and the future of making money with music. He’ll be here Friday, December 17th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern on IVA Radio Plays!

3 Reasons the Holidays are Great for Job Hunting Forget what you thought you knew about job hunting during the holidays. Here are 3 reasons to get out there and turn up the heat on your search 1. Holiday Hiring is Big Business Many people believe that no one hires permanent workers between Thanksgiving and the middle of January. The truth is that many companies do the biggest hiring during the holiday season; and not just for seasonal workers. Most companies are finalizing their budgeting for the following calendar year, and making hiring decisions accordingly. Remember not all those with the power to hire are on vacation, so get those resumes out there as often as possible and let others miss out on the opportunities that presented themselves.
2. Companies Use End of the Year to Use Up Their Hiring Budget Companies like to start off new years with a bang. So in order to get the ball rolling, they will want to hire in December and spend the remainder of their budget for that year in the process. The end of the year is the perfect time to spend what’s left--why shouldn’t that extra budget item be you?
3. Parties are Networking Opportunities Use holiday parties to sharpen up your networking skills. They will come in handy at all those future interviews that will come up because you remained persistent with your job search while everyone else was shopping at the mall. If all else fails, have a good time, share your job search story without coming across as desperate or pushy, and try to meet as many new people as possible while solidifying your existing relationships. Take advantage of holiday gatherings involving friends and/or family, because you never know who will be there, and it may open up some opportunities for you to make a good impression. Do all of that and you just might bump into the contact that follows up when she says: “email me your resume when you get a chance and I’ll see what I can do.” Just remember to make sure to not drink too much or ruin someone else's experience with a sob story.
