Message From Headquarters Dear reader, Planning a meeting program in Central Mexico means a wealth of choices. Meeting and event planning choices vary from historic colonial landmarks to the charming villages of the interior; to sophisticated cities to all-inclusive resorts in remarkable coastal areas. Do you want to have an out-of-the-ordinary event? Central Mexico can really fit the bill with its copious cultural heritage such as traditions, performing arts, rituals, festive events, UNESCO sites, and a great deal of natural wonders. What can you expect from these iconic sites? For example, Guadalajara, Mexico's second-largest city; it is a favored location for meeting and event planning thanks to a thriving business, bilingual services and an exhibition center. Guanajuato is a colonial city in Mexico's highlands, with a maze of cobbled alleys, quaint plazas, and an array of meetings-friendly hotels. Mexico City is Latin America’s largest metropolis, well equipped for meeting and event planning, with dozens of hotels and conference centers, as well as stunning historical buildings. Beautiful landscapes, stunning architecture, convenient locations await you. Sincerely, Jose-Manuel (Manolo) GARCIA, CIS, CMS, CCM President IVI DMC2 Enterprises

The City of Palaces, that’s the traditional name of Mexico City, called this way by Alexander von Humboldt, a scientist and explorer, when he visited the city. It’s not difficult to see why the nickname, because when we look at all that fascinating architecture, murals and history, Mexico City is truly a place of great palaces everywhere. What can you expect from Mexico City and Central Mexico? Nothing but greatness. Mexico's pre-Hispanic civilizations constructed some of the world’s great archaeological sites, including Teotihuacan’s towering pyramids and the intriguing Mayan temples of Palenque. The Spanish colonial era left quaint towns full of tree-shaded plazas and richly sculpted stone churches and mansions, while modern Mexico has seen a surge of great art from the talent of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Top-class museums and galleries document the country's fascinating history and its endless creative brio. Popular culture is just as vibrant, from the underground dance clubs and street art of Mexico City to the wonderful handicrafts of the indigenous population. 4

HOTELS The Presidente InterContinental Puebla AAA Cuatro Diamantes is a reflection of the city's beautiful atmosphere. Puebla is home to historic sites such as the Chapel of the Rosary, a 17th century baroque church with impressive gold inlays, and the Great Pyramid of Cholula. Try the local gastronomy in the City of the Angels, as the capital city is also referred to, and enjoy the traditional poblano chicken and the famous chalupas.

Hilton Mexico City Reforma, offers a sleek international counterpoint to the rich architectural mĂŠlange of historic museums, embassies, and boutiques along Reforma avenue. Major corporate events gravitate to the Hilton Mexico City Reforma, which boasts the city's largest hotel convention center with 15 flexible venues and 43,133 sq. ft. of space for groups up to 5,000. Nearby perks include Chapultepec Park, Garibaldi Square, and the fashionable shops and restaurants of La Zona Rosa.
Camino Real Monterrey An architectural space designed by the renowned office Legorreta + Legorreta. This resort is a vertical reinterpretation of the Camino Real in Mexico City, maintaining the scale of the spaces with mystery, color and art. Its design, color and shape gives visitors a special experience. Throughout the city, it is the only one of its kind.

ACTIVITIES MEXICO CITY, also known as CDMX due to a recent rebranding, offers great historical sites which are unmissable: The National Museum of Art preserves and studies exhibits of Mexican works of art produced between the second half of the 16th century and 1954, thus offering a global and synthesized vision of Mexican Art from this period. This important museum is indeed an advocate of our rich culture. The Faculty of Medicine has recovered the space of its old house, now converted into the "Palace of the School of Medicine", reconstructed in 1980 with care, but above all, with affection. It has been the object of constant renovation and upkeep of usable
spaces. The Palace of the Old School of Medicine, is a majestic construction of the Mexican Baroque. GUADALAJARA The Wax Museum is located in the heart of the historic center of Guadalajara, a few steps from the Degollado Theater. The Wax Museum opened its doors in 1994. It currently has a collection of 160 figures distributed in 12 thematic rooms in which visitors can appreciate historical, political, artistic, and sports personalities of
Mexico and the world.

RESTAURANTS Mexican cuisine is one with the largest variety in LATAM and it is a delight for the palate of those who enjoy good eating and drinking. Its restaurants, which are at the level of other foodie capitals, use incredible ingredients that will leave you with an exquisite mouth taste. Hacienda de los Morales offers a magnificent domestic and international menu, and a meeting center with lounges for all kinds of events in a traditional Mexican atmosphere. La Tequila, in Guadalajara City, is certified by the H label and it was the first restaurant to receive the "T" badge award by the Tequila Regulatory Council. It was also the first restaurant in Jalisco to receive the "Treasures of Mexico" award, which aims to promote excellence in restaurants and hotels whose high standards of service, gastronomic offer, and architectural character reflect the cultural richness of Mexico. La Catrina, either in its public or private facilities, offers a refined menu boasting a gamut of dishes made with genuine and autochthonous ingredients served in sophisticated presentations, as well as an excellent domestic cava and sought-after Tequilas.

AIR CONNECTIVITY Mexico City Airport, one of the 11 busiest airports in the World You definitely want your business and leisure programs to take place in Mexico City and the stunning colonial cities that surround it. The Benito Juarez International Airport receives flights from most airports in Mexico as well as from the most important cities of the U.S.A. and Canada. It has a vast network of both direct and connecting flights from all over the world.
A new Mexico City-Calgary route. Aeromexico recently launched a new route. Last year saw the beginning of operations between Mexico City and Calgary, which becomes the airline's fourth destination in Canada. This route is operated by Boeings 737-800 equipped with 160 seats, of which 16 are premier class.

A NEW DAILY FLIGHT BETWEEN BARCELONA AND MEXICO CITY HAS BEEN RECENTLY ANNOUNCED Mexico City’s connectivity is on the rise! Barcelona will now be added to the numerous cities that connect with the Mexican capital. This important addition represents not only growth, but also more choices for visitors and groups using Barcelona as a connecting point. The above will be achieved by means of Fifth Freedom Flights, a cool concept that enables United and Delta Airlines to fly many routes from Tokyo-NRT to a whole host of Asian cities. It allows Emirates Airlines, a Dubai-based carrier, to fly revenue passengers between New YorkJFK and Milan, Italy-MXP, two foreign countries. Emirates currently flies twice daily between Dubai and Barcelona, so they’ll also be adding a third daily flight between those two cities, with that plane continuing to Mexico City. This will be a fifth freedom route, so Emirates can carry passengers exclusively between Mexico and Spain. NEW MEXICO CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - MONUMENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY! The project of the Nuevo Aeropuerto internacional de la Ciudad de México (NAICM, initials in Spanish) is the result of an unprecedented selection process, in which the best architects worldwide partook with outstanding proposals. The winners were Norman foster (UK) and Fernando Romero (MEX). Foster is vastly experienced on airport design. He brought out the Beijing Airport, known to be one of the most beautiful terminal buildings in the world. Romero created, among other marvels, the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City. These two experts will include to the design top technological features, so this extraordinary structure will be a cornerstone of ecology and sustainability.
FUN FACTS:
11
✓ The NAICM will be the second largest airport in the world ✓ It will be six times larger than Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX), the other city’s airport ✓ The NAICM will use rainwater. With this important measure, and considering that 100% of the residual water will be treated, water consumption will be 79% less than the one of the current airport. ✓ NAICM will be surrounded by 20.5 linear miles of perimetric fence!

TravelTip: Easing the Fear •
Stop those thoughts. Your mind can either be your greatest asset in overcoming your fear of flying or your greatest enemy. When the plane encounters some turbulence, for example, instead of thinking about every bump, consider all the people at amusement parks who are spending their money to be bounced around on rides. Image the joy children have on roller coasters and vividly see their exuberant smiling faces in your mind.
•
•
Snap out of it. Before you get on a plane, put a rubber band on your wrist. When you have a negative thought about flying, snap the rubber band as a reminder to change your way of thinking. Distract yourself. During the flight, divert your attention away from your fears with a good book, a good conversation, or the in-flight movie. (Taken from page 179) James Feldman, (a.k.a.
