Sun, Sand and Sustainability on the rise The Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, emphasized the interest of promoting the event tourism (MICE segment), betting on Havana to turn it into at the meeting hub of the country. “Havana is the capital of the nation’s events, meaning there is great value treasured in our historic center (Old Havana), said the tourism minister. Already close to reaching 500 years since its establishment, Havana is gearing up for the next tourism fair in 2019 which concentrates the entire cultural component. Havana holds the place as the ideal capital destination for tourism meetings, events, and incentives.

Cuba leading the way in tourism industry By 2019, 5,250 new rooms will be added, the island expects to welcome a record number of 5 million international tourists, coinciding with the half-century of Havana. Among the new hotel additions is the recently revealed Hotel Packard in Old Havana, managed by the Spanish chain Iberostar, and the International Varadero, in the most famous resort on the island. With the increase in tourism, the Government initiated a series of investments that include the construction of new hotels, most of them in Havana, which welcomes approximately half of the tourists that arrive into the country. A contract has also been signed with French company airports from ParĂs for the administration of the JosĂŠ MartĂ International Airport in Havana, the main gateway to Cuba. Page 6
International Tourism Fair of Cuba, FITCuba 2019 Spain was the guest country in the 2019 edition of the International Tourism Fair of Cuba which took place from May 07-11, 2019 in dedication for the first time to tourism events and incentives, known as MICE by its acronym in English. 40% of international visitors who visit Cuba return, 21% of them to Havana, so it is expected that the next opening of high standard hotels will mean “a quality explosion that gives great prestige to the capital”. Currently, in Cuba’s capital are 11 five-star hotels, and by the end of 2023, another ten is expected to be build under that same category, which will synthesize “the priority” that is being given to the city in the national tourist scope.

Credo: We are those neatly attired people in the turquoise blue and white uniforms. Many people call us ‘’the Smurfs’’. We are knowledgeable, witty, fun to have around and beautiful or handsome (not necessarily in that order). We can run faster than Speedy Gonzalez, we can be in 2 or 3 different places at once, and are willing to do anything legally possible for our clients. You can find us popping up at airports, historical and archeological sites, deluxe resorts, charming hotels, golf courses, scenic beaches, and even at the best restaurants in town. We enjoy Smurf teamwork because it’s fun and having fun doing our jobs is our passion. We can do the impossible right away - miracles may take a little bit longer. Ever since 1986 we’ve been working passionately with the sole mission to Make YOU look GREAT!
