San Jose del Cabo Art Walk is a popular weekly event held every Thursday evening from 5-9 pm, between the months of June and November. This event was established, promoted and organized by the Gallery District Association in the hopes of drawing art lovers and tourists away from the main square and into our color-filled back streets located behind the church. With its popularity growing over the years, the local government decided to close the main street of Obregon to car traffic in order to accommodate all of the visitors to our district every Thursday evening. Enjoy an evening stroll through the Gallery District, visiting the art galleries, sipping wine and dining in our neighborhood restaurants. Often galleries will have special events such as “artist in attendanceâ€? or openings of new exhibitions. With the ever-growing popularity of the Art Walk, downtown San JosĂŠ as a whole is bustling on Thursday evenings; but the heart, soul and sophistication of this weekly event lies within the borders of the Gallery District inside the galleries, located behind the church and main square. 5

LOS CABOS

GASTROVINO - TODOS SANTOS The gastronomic paradise of Todos Santos will be full with the best wines and the most distinguished gastronomy of the Baja peninsula. This event is held in the spring to celebrate the abundance of our land. The most important wineries from Baja, QuerĂŠtaro and other cities in the region get together and bring in their traditional wines. Join us in an experience of flavors and colors characteristic of Todos Santos. The GastroVino festival is committed to social causes. Through large auctions, merchants, entrepreneurs and artists donate items with the desire to support the different institutions such as shelters, the fire department, and hospices. Last year, the proceedings amounted to more than 8,000 dollars, thus adding together more than 32,500 dollars since 2012. This year, GastroVino donated 80% of the earnings to the Palapa Society of Todos Santos, and 20% toward the restoration of the park in San Juan.

6

Wirikuta - Botanical Garden It is located just five minutes from San Jose downtown. This botanical garden is home to over 1,500 varieties of desert plants from around the world. CANCUN & RIVIERA MAYA

Cancun and the Riviera Maya are full of interesting places to visit. Due to this fact, Cancun and the Riviera Maya are considered as a 3 in 1 destination: either exploring the great Mexican culture, enjoying the pleasures that the Caribe can offer, or learning the wonders of an ancient culture as is the culture Maya. There are several ecological parks and nature reserves, as well as archaeological sites of great beauty and importance around the area. So many options to choose from!

10

ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES: Chichen Itza. One of the 7 wonders of the modern world, Chichen Itza is about 2 hours West of Cancun. It is by and large the most important Maya city on the Yucatan Peninsula; the site is so huge that it takes at least a full day exploring it. Chichen Itza was founded in 445 BC. In 1204 BC it was mysteriously abandoned. The city is divided into two areas: The old Chichen Itza, built between the years 60 and 900 C.E. and the new Chichen Itza, built in the 10th century. Coba. The city of Coba developed near five lakes that were a fundamental factor to its development and subsistence. When you reach the top of the pyramid Nohoch Mul, you can observe from its 42 meters height, the ancient Mayan city of Coba, surrounded by 5 lakes, which in its heyday reached 50,000 inhabitants. Tulum. The great walled city is located in the Riviera Maya, almost 1 hour from Playa del Carmen. In ancient times, the city received the Mayan name of Zamá (meaning “dawn”). It is known today as Tulum (meaning “wall”). Placed on top of the limestone cliffs and with a spectacular view of the turquoise sea, it is the only built Mayan citadel. Tulum is the most famous archaeological zone of Quintana Roo state. PARKS. Each one has its special charm, some have beaches, sections that highlight the great Mayan culture, special activities like swimming with dolphins, underground rivers, snorkel, among other activities to relax and enjoy an incredible trip. Xcaret, Xplor, and Xel-Ha include some smaller archeological vestiges as part of their attractions. Xel-Ha Natural Park. The ancestral Mayan name of this wonderful place means "where water is born". Xel-Ha is one of the most perfect creations of nature, and a paradise for those who visit it. This extraordinary place consists of a combination of lagoons, coves, cenotes and caves that are fed by the sea and by underground rivers and springs, making Xel-Ha the largest natural aquarium in the world. Xcaret Eco Park. Probably the biggest and most diverse attraction is the ecological park of Xcaret, full of attractions, from swimming with dolphins, underground rivers and an amazing night show, coupled with its great variety of gastronomic offerings make this park so unique Garrafón Natural Park. The Natural Park of Garrafón is located on the island closest to Cancun, Isla Mujeres, only 25 minutes by sea. Located in Punta Sur, it is known for its beautiful reefs and spectacular cliffs. It is home to an ancient Mayan temple. These cliffs offer dazzling views of the island, the Caribbean and beyond. Rio Secreto. This tour will take you to a walk to the center of the Earth; going through amazing caverns where the life of the planet was written, where incredible formations of calcium of at least 2 million years have become magnificent pieces of natural art. 11

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The Dominican Republic is a stronghold for the M&E in the Caribbean due to its solid infrastructure in many areas. We are a first-class, multi-faceted destination thanks to local and foreign investment, thus we have become a destination that offers locals and visitors entertainment for all tastes. Its exuberant nature, rich history and multicultural influences certainly offer a range of options. An enigmatic place that despite the years still tells its history in every corner of its streets and old structures, is the city of Santo Domingo, the first city of the new world, and it is today the capital of the Dominican Republic. We offer you to know the history behind this city and the Dominican culture. Visit the Palace of Don Diego Colon (Son of the conqueror), which was the headquarters of the conquerors for more than 60 years; the Cathedral of Santa Maria La Menor, the first cathedral of America; Tour the museum of the royal houses, visit the Columbus Lighthouse, a monument erected to the five hundred years of the discovery of America. We will also enjoy a free 45 minutes in El Conde Street, which was the first commercial street in the new world and enjoy an exquisite typical Dominican dish in one of the emblematic restaurants of the city. 12

Caribbean Safari. Immerse yourself in our local culture and customs; here you will discover another beautiful part of the island aboard a Safari truck, visiting the Dominican countryside adorned by mountains and rivers covered with lush jungle vegetation. Get ready to learn about the agricultural life of the locals, the plantations of sugar cane, cocoa, coffee, bananas and other vegetables that make up the staples of local people; we will also visit a typical house and enjoy a succulent Creole lunch, which is made from agricultural products harvested by the inhabitants of the area.

Visiting Altos de ChavĂłn will be an unforgettable cultural experience! Located inside the Casa de Campo complex in La Romana, it is a replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village in the heart of the Dominican Republic. It was designed meticulously by the Dominican architect JosĂŠ Antonio Caro and the Italian film expert Roberto Coppa; its enigmatic cobbled streets have an archaeological museum which offers a fascinating view of our history. Chavon also has an impressive Greek-style amphitheater with 5,000 seats and captivating views of the Rio Chavon and the Caribbean Sea. The amphitheater has been the stage of countless concerts and historical events since its inauguration in 1982, with the performance of arts and music icons. The village is a cultural center for residents, tourists, and working artists from all over the world.

Active studios for artists of every medium from pottery to weaving, silk screening, and everything in between line the cobblestone streets alongside shops and boutiques showcasing their unique creations. The tour offers options such as: zip lines, boogies, catamaran rides, horseback riding, paddle board, kayaks, wind surfing, snorkeling, and fishing. A perfect combination of sea and land in a single day to enjoy the beautiful gifts of nature of Punta Cana is visiting the ecological reserve of Ojos IndĂgenas. It is a forest reserve with 12 lagoons, in 3 of which visitors can swim. Historians discovered that the Tainos, tribes that inhabited the island before the conquistadores arrived, referred to the lagoons as eyes because of their peculiar shape. This site is our hidden gem, so to speak, a paradise on earth. In this tour we take you on a guided tour through the forest; at the end of the tour we will end up on a small and beautiful, turquoise blue beach.

Once on the island, you can enjoy the beach, play volleyball, dance merengue, and feast on a great BBQ-style lunch. The East National Park also includes another beautiful island called Catalina Island, named after the famous navigator Christopher Columbus; its waters are ideal for diving due to its impressive diversity of marine fauna. Antigua Tikal Atitlan Lake Flores Chichicastenango Guatemala City

Recommended Destination: GUATEMALA The Republic of Guatemala borders with Mexico to the West and to the North, to the East with Belize, the Gulf of Honduras (Caribbean Sea) and the Republic of Honduras, to the Southeast with El Salvador, and to the South by the Pacific Ocean. The country has an area of 108,889 km². Its capital is Guatemala City, officially called "New Guatemala of the Assumption". The official language is Spanish, although there are twenty-three Mayan languages, the languages Xinca and Garífuna - the latter spoken by the Afro-descendant population in the Caribbean department of Izabal. Guatemala has a rich indigenous culture resulting from the Mayan heritage and Castilian influence during the colonial era. After its independence from Spain in 1821, what today is Guatemala became part of the First Mexican Empire as well as the Federal Republic of Central America; it was until the year 1847 when the present republic was established; in 1944 the Guatemalan Revolution happened, and lasted until 1954, a year in which a national liberation movement resumed the country's power and precipitated it to a civil war that began in 1960 and ended in 1996 with the signing of the Peace Agreements.

20

Tourism has become one of the main engines of the economy. Guatemala receives about two million tourists annually. In its territory there are fascinating archaeological Mayan sites: Tikal in the Petén, Quiriguá in Izabal, Iximché in Tecpán Chimaltenango, and in the City of Guatemala. Lake Atitlán and Semuc Champey are examples of impressive beauty. Regarding historical sites, there is the colonial city of Antigua, which is a cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. The highest summit of the country is the volcano Tajumulco (4,220 masl); the Volcano of Fire (3,763 masl), the volcano Atitlán (3,535 masl), located next to the lake of the same name, and the volcano of Pacaya (2,552 masl) located next to the lake of Amatitlán, in the department of Guatemala - the latter is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Did you know? • • • • • •

The first chocolate bar ever, was made by the people of a Mayan community in Guatemala. Blue colored denims were also first created in Guatemala. That’s what’s called being a trendsetter! Tagged as the “Most Beautiful Lake” in the world by several ardent explorers, Lake Atitlan is the deepest lake in all of Central America. The city of Antigua, former capital of Guatemala, is located in between three gorgeously huge volcanoes, namely, Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. Fiambre, a traditional Guatemalan dish, is made from over 50 different ingredients and is prepared and eaten yearly to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Tajumulco Volcano is the highest peak in Guatemala with an altitude of 4,220 meters. The national anthem of Guatemala was originally written by a Cuban, José Joaquín Palma. There are close to 33 volcanos in Guatemala. Most of them are still active. Guatemala is the biggest producer of jade in the world. The name “Guatemala” is said to mean the “land of many trees”. And with three different types of terrains: volcanic highlands, Pacific lowlands, and the northern plains of jungle justifies this name. Guatemala was the hub of the Mayan civilization. Due to this fact, half of the population in the country are direct descendants of the Maya. 21

Travel Tip: Stay Alert, Dress Properly, Know the Location of the Nearest Exit Listen to the briefing and read the safety card. In case of an accident, leave your personal belongings behind. Do not inflate your life vest, if applicable, until after you leave the plane. Above all, remain calm! “Passengers who are prepared to survive a survivable accident usually do,” says Charles Chittum.

Keep your seat belt fastened. As flight attendants always announce on a plane, “Keep your seat belt fastened low and tight around your hips.” And keep it loosely fastened about you while you’re seated... for the entire duration of the flight. I was on an airplane. The pilot came running down the aisle with a parachute strapped to his back. He said, ‘Don’t be alarmed, but we are having a little trouble with the landing gear. I’m gonna run on ahead and warn them at the airport.’ - Slappy White (Taken from page 185)
