DOMINICAN REPUBLIC LAS TRES PIEZAS DEL BUREN is a community located 20 kilometers from Bavaro, in the middle of a rural area. In this remote village 50 families live in dusty, rocky areas and have a hard time making a living. Under these conditions, there are about 200 people whose main livelihood is the raising of cows, pigs and goats, and the planting of bananas, yucca, corn and beans. Also, there are about 35 children who must walk up to 6 miles to reach a school that only reaches the fifth grade of elementary education. And some children must go to school on donkeys or horses because of the difficult road conditions. Today only 35 children attend, due to the lack of classrooms. Their school requires support to create sports grounds for children to exercise, classrooms and play areas. Also, there is a need to pave the road and make tap water available. CSR Initiatives: Make improvements to the school: Build an additional classroom to separate basic education grades, build recreation areas such as a playground, a basketball court and volleyball, and put a fence around to protect the school. Improve the main road that communicates the community with the city. Build a medical clinic for the community because the nearest hospital is 30 km from the area. Due to lack of road they have to pay US$ 30.00 for a transfer in taxi motorcycle and in most cases, they don’t have that money to pay it.
10
EL JUNCO SMALL COMMUNITY This school was founded in 1995 by the community, currently there are only 35 children, with a division of courses from 1st elementary to 2nd in the morning. And in the afternoon 3rd and 4th grades of elementary school. Attending children range from ages 7 to 12; others would love to attend but due to the lack of space, these ones have to go to remote places, away from their community. CSR Initiatives: Make improvements to the school, put new doors and paint the walls Build recreation areas such as playground, basketball and volleyball courts Put a new fence around and protect the school, as well as new desks and work tables. Fix the bathrooms and put new toilets and washbasins Donation of school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc.
JUANILLO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL The elementary school of Juanillo was founded in the year 1954. This area is made up of 80 families with a little more than 300 people living in this poor and small fishing community. Its inhabitants survive basically from the fishing and small businesses. Because the students are growing, and the school only has 6 classrooms for 300 children, the students from 1st and 2nd year of high school attend classes in the local church. CSR Initiatives: Make improvements to the school building, construct recreation areas such as basketball and volleyball courts and repair the playground Put a fence around the school Donation of school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc. The donation of a school bus that makes it easier for children to get to their classes on
time. Some children come from far away communities.

COSTA RICA
Corporate social responsibility, a leading 21st century business buzz phrase, is difficult to define, since each company that claims to be socially responsible chooses a different way to demonstrate its commitment. CSR is a company’s way of doing well – not in terms of profits or the efficiency of its day-to-day operations – but by committing itself to an activity or cause that contributes to the greater good. Be it recycling, helping to rebuild homes destroyed in an earthquake, providing soccer uniforms to impoverished schools or cleaning up beach trash, a socially responsible company is one that aims to improve something beyond its core function, in a way that’s relevant to the entire society.

In IVI DMC we are aware that we can contribute significantly in the image of CSR for our clients and thus we offer a variety of initiatives directed towards that goal, actions that are, so to speak, tokens of good will and corporate responsibility and solidarity. In the ecological field we had made effective contributing donations and labor to reforestation programs, cleaning streams, rivers, and beaches, or funds for endangered species. In the social field we have organized teams to paint schools, visited and assisted institutions for the elderly, community schools, donated supplies to different causes and helped in recycling campaigns. And whatever might come to your mind to implement in that vein we are willing to work it out with you and make it a reality. We will receive with arms wide open your input and caring love on this matter.

PANAMA
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a new business trend that is becoming a part of business models put in use by companies today. The basic explanation is that companies start to take a keen interest on those less favored and encourage a positive impact on the environment, consumers, employees, communities. Our company here in Panama is very active in this pursuit. 2
Recently IVI DMC Panama, along with many of our valuable clients, has coordinated very successful donation of overboard motors to one of the many communities of the Emberรก Indians. This help was greatly appreciated by them since their main communication line with the rest of the country is through river boats for transportation of people and goods.
14
One group program, for instance, recently conducted CSR in Panama. They donated funds and practical help to a to a nongovernmental organization to help out in the northern region of Panama, close to the border with Costa Rica, in the archipelago named Bocas del Toro. While having amazing beaches and a lot of culture there are also a lot of people in need of medical attention who are days away from any public hospital in order to be checked out. There's a foundation called Floating Doctors which supports this people in need by traveling through the islands on their own, bringing medical and dental care to people in the most remote islands. This is a nongovernmental organization and they only work from donated medical time and donations from international organizations. A donation to them would mean to help develop the health and wellbeing of an entire province of the country.
CSR OPPORTUNITIES IN PANAMA ☑ ☑ ☑ ☑
Construction or renovation of schools facilities. Dining rooms for children and sponsorship for food and nutrition needs Volunteer medical and dental care Classrooms for kinder garden within the grounds of the Ciudad del Niño (City of Child, in West Panama)

Travel Tip: Book Off-Peak Flights •
Avoid flying on a Friday. Instead, book your flight for a Tuesday or Wednesday, if you can. Midweek is less crowded.
•
Avoid flights that depart or arrive between 7 to 9 A.M. and 4 to 7 P.M. at any major airport. These are the busiest times of the day. I Know I said to take the earliest flights, but you should consider the length of the flight, how important your arrival time is for the trip, and the possibilities of being remanded to coach because you did not have seniority for the upgrade list.
