This is a very important month for us as we are celebrating IVI DMC Enterprise’s 34th Anniversary! Time sure flies when you’re having fun. In these 34 years, we’ve shared countless experiences, happiness, hard-work, and love.

To celebrate this amazing day, we want to start by sharing our story with you!

Our Company was founded in Cancun, Q. Roo, Mexico in 1986 by Mr. José-Manuel GARCÍA; who is characterized by being a visionary, and as such, saw the urgent need to create a land operator specialized in professional and quality services for groups visiting our different destinations. Since then, our modest office in Cancun has spawned a vast network of offices throughout Latin America.

In 1988, our original name, Incentives, and Vacations International changed to IVI Destination Management. Since our inception we have led the market and set trends through the use of the latest technology - from telex to the computer age; and from smartphones, social networks to the most recent ones like G Suite, digital platforms, and much more.

We were one of the pioneers in standardizing uniforms so that our personnel were easily identified by our clients at either the airport or hotel. After our first two years of success, we were able to assess what our clients requested the most and what additional services had to be incorporated, which is why we immediately implemented more and better services for our growing client portfolio. This is how IVI DMC Enterprises came to position itself as the first and most complete DMC in Mexico and Latin America.

By the year 2000 IVI made a significant impact by implementing an International Quality Model into the entire company’s structure and performance. It allowed every one of our associates to identify the interaction between the core and support processes within our Company – from conception to completion.

Flying along with the I-Bee Squad For starters, this month we welcomed Tracy Bockhop and her family to our Mexican Caribbean. We followed all of the safety & hygiene protocols, and we confirmed we are ready to welcome you in our beautiful destinations. We also received in our beloved Mexican Caribbean, our client and friend Sarah McDaniel, Sr. Account Coordinator at Wellington. It was great to see her, and we hope she had a great time.

In other news, we are pleased to welcome two new bees to the I-Bee Squad! Yucatan QUEEN BEE & Cuba BLUE BEE. We are glad to have them with us, and can’t wait to share with you all of the adventures we’ll have together!

A spirited oasis on the coast of the Mexican Caribbean The Mayan Riviera was part of one of the most important shopping sites and religious grounds of the Mayan ancestors during the years 1000 to 1500 B.C. During the post-classic period, Tulum was known as the most majestic site of this era, set on a cliff, with breathtaking views of the blue turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea. Other remarkable sites formerly named Xaman-Hรก (currently Playa del Carmen), Puerto Pole (Xcaret), and Xel-Hรก.

Travel back in time Traveling to the classic period and a little bit deeper into the jungle, you’ll find Coba, a site enveloped by (five) nearby lagoons and several water sinkholes (cenotes), including a very large Mayan settlement dating back to the 300-1000 B.C. During the post-classic period the pilgrimage to Cozumel was motivated by the veneration of the Mayan goddess Ixchel, a deity of fertility, this phenomenon turned Cozumel a frequently visited destination for the Mayans, unfolding the growth of several buildings and Mayan settlements of archeological sites in the island.

After the arrival of the Spanish in the XVI century, the Mayan Riviera prevailed as a highly valuable territory despite the abandoned places due to the wars and the conquest, during the following 300 years.

The need for roads and the endurance of the Mayans to give the space, denying access to conquests to this region. In the XX century, the area became a very valuable natural gum producer, from the sap liquid collected from trees in the jungle which gave way to billionaire companies like Wrigley and Adams. Recently, the whole area continued without being recognized until 1974, when the State of Quintana Roo was officially established and it has since denoted this site a tourist destination.

Cancun emerged in 1986 with a Federal Government initiative of planning tourism in Mexico. In 1975 the tourist operations in Cancun began. During these years, FONATUR (National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism) developed the first construction master plan of the area, which was the model for the plans and development programs for the state and the municipality.

Years after the development of the touristic infrastructure of Playa del Carmen and Tulum were initiated, these soon came to be known as Riviera Maya in 1997, a destination of 120 km of spectacular beaches.

Barcelo Maya Arena December 15, 2019, was the opening of the Barcelรณ Maya Grand Resort, which hosts the Maya Arena Convention Center, the largest in the Mayan Riviera. This modern and highly equipped convention center features up to 96,875 sq. ft. with a capacity for up to 8,000 people. Additionally, it has two areas for conventions with an extension of 118,400 sq. ft. and more than 226,000 sq. ft. with multifunctional spaces for superior-level events.

Without a doubt, this location - just 75 km from Cancun International airport - and the spectacular surroundings along a 2km beach enchants any convention, exposition, congress, and high-level event.
