Message From Headquarters Dear reader, Just four decades ago, Cancun was an uninhabited island and few knew of its existence. Before it was developed, it was just a rock mass and dunes in the shape of seven, and separated from the mainland by two narrow channels that connected to the sea with an intricated system of lagoons. The riverbank was made up of marshy swamps and surrounded by mangroves, virgin jungle, and unexplored beaches. Today, our modern-day Mexican Caribbean has become the most dynamic region in the country with a spearheading infrastructure and worldknown hospitality. Our destination is one of the main drivers that contribute to the country’s economy due to a thriving tourism industry. THE MEXICAN CARIBBEAN
Cancun, resting on the northeast corner of the Yucatan Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo, was a part of the ancient Mayan civilization and is considered as a gateway to the Mayan World. Due to its near perfect weather, natural beauty, and easy accessibility, Cancun has emerged as the best tourism resource. What was once a remote and tiny fishing village of just 12 families has turned into the ideal Mexican vacation spot. The Riviera Maya extends along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, from Puerto Morelos to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. AN EVER THRIVING AIR CONNECTIVITY On November 1, 2017, Terminal 4 of Cancun International Airport started its operations; its facilities comprise 270,000 m² that will increase traffic capacity in 43% by 2020. In total, there are 14 airlines operating in terminal 4: Aeromexico, Air Europe, Air France, Air Transat, Condor, Frontier Airlines, Interjet, Lufthansa, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Thomas Cook, Thomas Cook Scandinavia, Virgin Atlantic, and WestJet. It should be noted that this building’s intelligent design received a LEED Silver certification, issued to facilities that meet certain ecological and energy efficiency standards. But the growth plans do not end here, since an additional expansion is planned to this terminal so that it can receive more than 40 million passengers annually.

ROSA NEGRA It’s located at km 15 of the hotel zone. PARADISUS PLAYA MUJERES Melia Hotels International announces the grand opening of Paradisus Playa Mujeres for the summer of 2019. This luxurious resort will become its fifth hotel in Mexico under the Paradisus brand. You will have a wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops, as well as a golf course designed by the professional Australian golfer, Greg Norman. This resort will offer 498 rooms that will have a unique and contemporary dĂŠcor and will feature a minibar, LCD TV, high-speed internet connection, and a private balcony. It will also have a convention center with a capacity of up to 1,500 people; it will offer video mapping technology and the latest A/V technology. PLAYA MUJERES GOLF CLUB This 18-hole course was conceived with full respect for both the naturally abundant fauna and the environmentally sensitive areas that surround it. A great resort course with daily trade winds that demand pinpoint accuracy and that challenges even the most experienced of players. Still, it is a pleasant experience for players of all levels. It is recognized as one of the best golf courses in Mexico.
PARQUE MAYA CANCUN This new amusement center, located in Cancun’s hotel zone, presents a total of nine activities to be carried out, the first being Vision Maya which is a movie theater where a tribute to the Mayan culture is featured.

If you are adventurous, try the Mayan journey zip lines which originate from the main to the secondary towers. Afterward, take a boat; during the ride, a tour guide will explain the importance of the mangroves and help you to spot local birds. As you sail, admire replicas of 24 different representations of Mayan art and history such as steles, temples, and deities. The experience is completed with delicious typical food.

Festivals
RIVIERA MAYA JAZZ FESTIVAL This festival has been taking place each November since 2003 in Playa del Carmen, usually coinciding with Thanksgiving. It consists of 3 days of the best jazz music at no cost, for all public to enjoy. This year it had the support of renowned musicians such as Bebel Gilberto, Norah Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Lalah Hathaway, among others. The scenario is the always popular Mamita’s Beach Club.

FESTIVAL OF LIFE AND DEATH 2018. Xcaret has carefully prepared a program full of art expressions that will take you on a journey through the Day of the Dead traditions and Mexican beliefs, with the distinctive style each artist imprints on their work. This festival brings together musical, gastronomic, folkloric and artistic expressions characteristic of Mexico. In this 13 th edition of the festival, they had Zacatecas state as guest of honor. And like every year, the event gathered representations from different parts of Mexico and even some international ones. The Day of the Dead is cataloged as intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2008. It took place from October 30 to November 2.

JetBlue New BOS-HAV Route Good News for Havana! JetBlue Airlines has announced a weekly, nonstop route departing from New England, U.S. During a press release, the company reported that this new BOS-HAV route has been added because of the growing interest for Cuba in the area. The airline already also offers daily service from Fort Lauderdale to three other Cuban cities — Santa Clara, Holguín, and Camagüey — as well as non-stop service from New York and Orlando to Cuba. The addition of the Boston route means JetBlue will offer service to Havana from four American cities — more than any other U.S. airline. JetBlue is indeed reinforcing its presence in Havana!
