Page 16
Los Arcos One of the best scuba spots in Puerto Vallarta, Los Arcos is nestled in a cluster of granite islands rising out of the waters of the southern part of Banderas Bay – a thrilling place to explore. There are the Devil’s Canyon and El Bajo, plus a fascinating multitude of beautiful fish, lobsters, octopuses, rays, and eels. Every Monday, Friday, and Saturday, our PADI Divemasters bring divers to scuba dive at Los Arcos and discover the adventure that awaits underneath the waves!

When scuba diving in La Corbeteña and El Sequial, you’ll come face to face with an abundance of sea life, from manta rays and turtles to dolphins and even sharks. However, these beautiful creatures aren’t the only reason that highlights these sites. Dive deep, traverse caves and commune with some of the largest fish in the sea on two dives as you make you use your PADI certification.
Page 17
Diving in El Chimo
El Chimo is a secluded fishing village located south of the Banderas Bay. Its privileged location close to the edge of the bay makes this unique dive site a rich setting for tropical fish and large pelagics like manta rays. Witnessing rock formations that emerge from the bottom of the ocean — such as “Las Iglesias” — is like relishing the pillars of a cathedral. This structure depicts a beautiful view for those who decide to join this adventure! The underwater world at Chimo includes rock formations and reefs, springing at a depth of 30 feet and descending to more than 200 hundred feet. Discover various kinds of corals unique in this dive location in Puerto Vallarta, and get ready to dive at a well-known site where manta rays and large schools of fish gather.
Page 18
Diving in El Morro You know you’ve reached El Morro — an exceptional dive site on the edge of Banderas Bay — when you set your sights on a dramatic series of rock pinnacles jutting out of the Pacific Ocean. Here, experienced divers can plunge under the waves with a PADI certified dive instructor to dive walls, explore caves and traverse a 50-foot tunnel. That’s not all there is to explore, divers can also get up close and personal with large pelagics like rays, sailfish, manta rays, whale sharks, and even humpback whales. Scuba diving in El Morro is an unparalleled experience you’ll never forget! El Morro is sometimes called the most secluded dive site in Puerto Vallarta, but it is definitely one of the most striking. The pinnacles indicate the first sign you’ve reached El Morro and are also what make it such a unique site. They spring from the ocean floor and are pockmarked with dozens of tunnels and caves that are teeming with marine life - all of which you can discover on this dive!
Diving in Los Anegados Indulge in this hour-long journey in a fully equipped dive boat to one the most favored dive sites in the outer ends of Banderas Bay, Los Anegados. Halfway between the Marietas Islands and El Morro, there is a bank where shallows transition into deeper waters and divers can join bottom dwellers like rays and eels, including pelagics such as jacks and tuna. These waters can sometimes pose a challenge typically mild for more experienced divers to navigate.

It is an activity for everyone as it offers beginner programs where guests can learn from PADI professionals, with personalized service to make it easier and most enjoyable.
Page 23
Submarine Adventure An underwater attraction is not complete without a submarine venture. This amazing experience — that takes place in Cozumel — is the vacation story you will tell for years to come. Only a few people have lived this submarine journey, and you can be one of the meager 1% of the world’s population to travel more than 100 feet – over 30 meters below the surface to discover the wonders of the deep blue sea. Mexico’s only submarine designed for tourists to explore the tropical life of the Caribbean welcomes guests to discover mysteries, like the sunken ship Felipe Xicotencatl, and the 400-foot vertical drop affectionately known as The Wall that comes alive as you peer into the depths through one of 26 portholes.
Whale Shark The whale shark is the largest fish that exists in the world today, with registered lengths of up to 50 feet. The whale shark prefers the warm surface water areas where there are upwellings of cold water rich in nutrients, like the ones between Isla Mujeres and Holbox island. During the Summertime is when these conditions favor the growth of plankton on which they feed. The whale shark has nothing in common with whales except for its size and the fact that it only eats tiny plankton that it gathers with its wide-open mouth. Normally it feeds on the surface or slightly below. Whale sharks are viviparous animals, also it is common to see young calves swimming with the elderly. Whale sharks are very docile and gentle, so don’t get startled when they are approaching divers or swimmers. Enjoy the best snorkeling tour while encountering whale sharks in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Tulum, Akumal, Holbox island, or Isla Mujeres.
C osta Ri ca

It is the most astonishing marine park in Costa Rica and one of the main diving destinations in the world. A diving adventure in Isla del Coco is only for experienced divers with a truly adventurous spirit. The only way to access the island and its phenomenal dive sites is through a boat. Isla del Coco is famous for its hammerhead shark populations, as well as for many other types of sharks, whales, dolphins, rays, and tropical fish.
Turtle Island Snorkeling or diving around Tortuga Island is a marine adventure that the whole family will enjoy. The crystal clear and calm waters house a surprising diversity of tropical fish and marine species, such as parrotfish, porcupine, angelfish, brunette eels, turtles and eagle rays. Just off the coast of the island, sightings of dolphins, humpback whales, pilot whales, and stingrays are common. After a breathtaking snorkeling adventure, spend the day in Tortuga Island — the perfect way to spend the rest of the day outdoors. Page 26
Bat Islands The Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge is one of the best places to dive on the Caribbean coast. Shallow coral reefs, small islands, and sheltered bays are ideal for snorkeling and are home to a colorful variety of tropical fish and corals. Manatees, dolphins, and sea turtles are also frequent visitors to this beautiful refuge. This beautiful paradise in Central America is one of the few places in the world where you can dive and explore two oceans in one day – the warm, tropical waters of the Caribbean and the calmer waters of the Pacific. Water temperatures on the Caribbean side are warm all-yearround, between 73-80°F, so a 3mm is usually plenty. On the Pacific side, colder currents bring water temperatures between 59-73°F, so a 5mm will be sufficient. For those doing deep dives in the winter, thermoclines can be present, so a 7mm might be useful. Page 28

Portobelo National Park Portobelo National Park is a popular diving area with exceptional marine life. Being closer to Panama City, people come directly from the city to dive into this area that produces breathtaking reef dives and several sinkings. Playa Huerta is a beach at Portobelo Bay – located at its rim – it is a small bay with crystalline waters that offer immeasurable coral reefs to snorkel. Due to its location, this bay produces endless calm waters, with a 1,968 ft coral area for diving or snorkeling tours, and an amphibia board activity, for all underwater enthusiasts. This beautiful Portobelo beach is also highlighted by the small island in front of the beach, Drake Island. This island takes the name from the Corsaire and Admiral Francis Drake. Page 30
Bocas del Toro This archipelago of nine large islands includes the protected area of Isla Bastimentos National Marine. Bocas is known for its well-preserved hard and soft corals. Being outside of the official hurricane zone, away from large cities and river mouths, the coral is very healthy. It is estimated that 95% of the coral species found in the Caribbean Sea can be found within the archipelago. Tiger Rock is rated one of the best dive sites in Bocas del Toro, including its three rock pinnacles that rise from the seafloor at 40m. It’s an advanced dive and can have strong currents, but is a good place to see sharks, rays, large fish schools, whale sharks, and dolphins. Its location requires perfect sea conditions for boats to be able to get there. Dolphin Rock is another offshore rock formation where sharks can be observed, as well as a plethora of colorful fish life. Visitors can also discover magnificent diving around Zapatillas Cays.

Coiba National Park Coiba National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that comprises 38 islands. It is widely known as the best diving spot along the Pacific Coast from Colombia to Mexico. Whale sharks are common visitors from December to April. Humpback whales are seen from July through October and orcas and pilot whales frequent the area as well. Large schools of mantas and mobula rays sometimes swim by, and most dives have turtles, schools of large fish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and dolphins.

Alejandro was attentive to all my questions and put together a great evening event for our group. Again, Alejandro spent time on the phone with me to discuss our evening event in detail. This was much appreciated as he made sure I understood the logistics of the evening. Great, job on the ground. I was a bit nervous about the flow of the program since I hadn’t been to Cuba before but our evening event was flawless.
