Interior Architecture Human-Centered Design & Architecture
“
Using a combination of hand rendering tools and 3D modeling programs such as Revit, SketchUp, and Rhino, I have designed innovative, green buildings that showcase my design aesthetic.

Aranya Cafe
The Aranya Café was built by Tsutomu Deguchi on the waters edge of the Aranya Park on the Gold Coast of China. I built this as a case study in Revit to challenge myself to learn the program by building the organic roof structure and 360 degree glass facade. -
-
I was drawn to this cafe’s light airy feel as it creates a space for people of all ages to sit, relax, and recharge in a natural setting.

First Floor Plan
Second Floor Plan
I designed the Modern Ecolodge floor plans in AutoCAD and created the 3D renders using Vray in SketchUp. The modularity of the mountain home reduces the construction prices and environmental impact on the local landscape as a result of primarily off-site construction. Residents feel connected to the natural world being surrounded by natural materials and early morning light that comes in through directly east facing windows. Conceptual Sculpture Drawing: Hand-drawing showcasing a study of modularity and the orientation of modules in 3D space.
Micro-Apt. Shown is a microapartment for artist couple Ushio and Noriko Shinohara, which involves unconventional methods of allowing the couple to be physically apart, yet still connected within their household. An urban intervention composed of a sloping curtain wall houses the couple’s private bathing area inside one alcove, and provides a public washing basin along its street front facade.
Process Work: Volumetric studies examining how volumes can be used to create spatial perceptions & voids. The architecture of the apartment was driven by the goal of conserving water and allowing for a singular water source to provide water to both the entire apartment and the urban intervention. The long curtain wall penetrates the roof to create a small water basin to collect rainwater, and by the forces of gravity rainwater water flows down the wall from the roof, into the kitchen, and out to the urban intervention.

Lighting Design A Case Study on the Church of Light
“
By making a scaled 3D model of the Church of Light, by Tadao Ando, I was able to understand the entry of natural light into a space in response to geolocation and time of day, and how these differing lighting effects create spatial perceptions
“
Church of Light Shown is an architectural model of the Church of Light, by Tadao Ando, in which the influx of light is used to create and define new spatial perceptions, blurring the line between the natural world and the built environment. The church is orientated southeast, and as a result, in the morning and early afternoons during services, the inside of the church is bathed in an ephemeral light that inspires prayer and self-reflection.

Interaction Design UX Design Focus
“
Two projects on feed redesign that were informed by user experience research, user flows, and use cases. The changes made increase the business value of the respective companies by allowing for ease of navigation and the ability to rapidly crowd-sourced music to create collaborative playlists.
“
Feed Redesign,
New Feature,
Feed Redesign, Feed Redesign Outcomes • Intuitive organization of categories by the time of day, meal course, dietary categorization, ingredients and dishes, health foods, and nationality. • The group icon among the sorting tools at the top allows the user to see the groups that they have joined. • Users are encouraged to try new restaurants based on ratings and reviews from their peers.
User Flow: Redesigned to include greater consistency and efficiency of use for sorting mechanisms and constraints.
New Feature Design, “Atmosphere” Feature Spotify’s strength lies in its ability to provide new music by allowing listeners to view what their friends are listening to. However, upon analyzing the Spotify homepage feed on an Iphone, I found that the homepage of the app does not facilitate social interaction, nor does it successfully recommend new music, as the first components of the feed are tailored strongly towards what the user is already listening to. My goal is to reintegrate social interaction into Spotify’s feed by reorganizing the personalized feed to include a new feature that allows for the rapid creation of crowd-sourced playlists.
On the “Atmosphere” landing page, the user is able to see what their friends are listening to and has the option to add their friends to a group playlist.
Users are also able to see other nearby users, and have the option to quickly drag and drop their icons into a collaborative playlist or add them to a group playlist by clicking the “Add to Group” Icon.

Photography Film & Digital Photography, Film Development
“
Photography is my art media of choice because it captures fleeting moments and represents them in a tactile form that is malleable and open to interpretation. My love for this medium has developed into an appreciation for its origin and darkroom processing has become a form of meditation for me.
“
Digital Photography.
Photos taken on an Iphone 7 at the Monkey Garden in Bali, Indonesia on the previous page, and a local monastery and coffee farm on the left. The images on the right were taken at the festival of light in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, celebrating the Vietnamese New Year.
Film Photography,
Camera-less photography skills were used in the darkroom to create prints of real life objects, such as flowers and lemon slices. I also developed and printed black and white ISO 400 film, using a mix of burning in methods that allowed for greater contrast while maintaining an extensive gray scale on my prints.

My intentions are to move this historical brand forward into the modern era through the integration of immersive technologies into their showroom. Visitors will have the opportunity to connect with Gunlocke’s rich history by sitting in the presidents chair, surrounded by moving images of the oval office. Other interactive graphics will immerse buyers in different natural settings and allow them to pick and choose which Gunlocke furniture pieces can be put into their virtual offices. -
