THIS WAY...
I think Rock and Roll lends itself to a relaxed yet funky vibe when it comes to clothing and it is definitely a case of more is more with this theme! For the dress, a statement colour seems to be the way forward when it comes to alternative weddings, for example a red dress or if your daring enough, a black wedding dress seems to be popular for a rock and roll bride! The style of the dress could nod towards the 50s or you could do a modern twist on old styles to bring a bit of your personality to the outfit. I also think different textures would work well for the bridal dresssuch as a plain material on the top of the dress then perhaps it could change into a ruffled design on the bottom half! This way, the bridesmaids could pick up on one material on your outfit and have that for their dress, tying the whole thing together. For the men, waistcoats seem to be popular for a rock and roll groom and also coloured shoes however odd that may seem! Burgundy seems to be a reoccurring colour in the rock and roll world, for example I have seen grooms in a tweedy three piece suit with burgundy accents and shoes which looks cool and authentic.

As well as how the food tastes, it also has to look good when it comes to a rock and roll theme! If you have small appetisers or picky food to start, try placing the
spin
food on top of old vintage albums or a stack of drums to really add to the party atmosphere. If you have an outdoors
spin
wedding, food trucks are also a great option as it’s fun and you can even have music blaring out of them which I’m sure
sugar
will make your guests enjoy the food even more! ‘Fun’ food is definitely the way to go for a rock and roll wedding feast, for example have cupcakes, hot dogs and whatever other American style food you fancy- it will be tasty yet transport your guests to a different era!

Lizzie Haines of ‘SHOOT IT MOMMA’ is an Uppingham based wedding photographer who insists upon making your photographic experience as pain free and as fun as it can possibly be. “With so many people shying away from the camera I really work hard in order to become friends with the couples that I photograph and most importantly, I try to make them laugh” says Lizzie, who takes a relaxed approach to her passion of photographing people. “If I can’t put people at ease and ensure that their time with me doesn’t distract from the overall enjoyment of their big day then I’m not doing my job properly.” Lizzie believes that being photographed should never be a chore and that the onus is on your photographer to make that the case. Her aim is to leave you with a strong sense of friendship and a great set of photos. Meeting new people and making friends is as important as the camera that she uses and this state of mind is reflected directly in the pictures that she takes. Capturing the whole of your day from start to finish Lizzie combines stunning portraits with candid shots to produce a beautiful portrayal of a day that you will never want to forget.
“I like to catch people at their best and they aren’t at their best until they are relaxed…so let’s get a coffee and see how we go shall we?” You can contact Lizzie via email lizzie@doitmomma.co.uk, by phone on 07951 030114 and see more of her work at

Your make up is all about YOU . A more glamerous version of you. Your partner need to recognise who he is marrying ... my mission is to ensure you are 100% happy with YOUR make up. Michelle G www.michellegmakeupartist.co.uk Hello,I’m Paul, owner of Classic Sapphire Wedding Cars.I have been honoured to drive my brides as “Miss” to the church then on to the reception as “Mrs” for three years now and have loved being part of their marriages and indeed looking forward to many more. I am very proud of the fact that I have two very rare Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire’s which are identical in every way and are perfect for weddings being
ivory and black in colour. My 1958 model is the oldest Star Sapphire registered on british roads second to the oldest surviving Star in the world currently in Australia and is verified by the Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club records. My 1960 model is one of the last cars to roll off the production line in Coventry in May ‘60 before the factory ceased manufaturing these beautifu cars. They have both been lovingly restored to their originality just as they were over half a century ago. Their lovely walnut dashboards and door cappings along with their two-tone matching leather seats have been brought back to cherished beauty and the smell is beautifully reminiscent of grandads old banger sat in the garage.Their automatic drive is so smooth you hardly feel the gears change as you glide stress-free to blissful matrimony. Adorned in the coloured ribbons and bows of your choice you feel regally noble arriving at the church on time with your bridesmaids making a vintage statement to your envied guests. We pride ourselves on smart appearance, politeness and most importantly punctuality and always take our time in transit to please the bride and father with an optional drive-round to calm the nerves before making her entrance. We are also contactable through our Facebook page. www.asfordby.com/sapphire

Wedding Hair By Lauren
Only two years ago I decided to ‘go for it’ and be my own boss! I left my salon and created Wedding Hair by Lauren; im now happily a home hairdresser that specialises in wedding and occasional hair, Having instantly fell in love with working alongside the Miss To Mrs team and being invited on multiple shoots- I finally started to feel inspired to organise my own and felt over the moon at the thought of creating different vintage inspired looks for each model! As soon as I had the idea it just seemed to fall into place - there were a few suppliers that I have been dying to work with and I was so excited when they said yes to participate in my vintage inspired shoot! I was amazed at the talents of our creative photographer (Joanne cooper photography) and the very talented Kerry from Beautiful You MUA who I always enjoy working with created all the makeup looks! The shoot started instantly with the models practically jumping around at the thought of trying on the stunning gowns that Butterfly Brides brought along and posing with Talking Point Events vintage cases and tea sets had smiles on everyone’s’ faces and have resulted (thanks again to our photographer) in some infectiously fun photos! We were also lucky enough to be joined by the very enthusiastic lady from Leicester One-Stop wedding shop who
hand made the most beautiful bouquet and supplied such lovely things like the chair covers and centre pieces and just made our sets come to life! I also need to give a special thanks to Mix’d our very brilliant venue who’s’ huge open spaces and quirky furniture (no to mention brilliant music and atmosphere) made our shoot possible.

Grahams Port.... The Graham’s ‘Vintage Port Bond’ enables people to purchase Vintage Port in the year in which it is harvested.
m a g a z in e
Following the tradition of laying down Vintage Port to commemorate a wedding or other important family occasion Graham’s Port is the first ever Port Company to offer a ‘Vintage Port Bond’ for one case of Vintage Port in the year of the harvest. The buyer will receive a ‘Vintage Port Bond Certificate’ with personalised calligraphy to gift to a married couple at their wedding so they can have a special gift linked directly to that specific year.

Paul Symington comments: “Vintage Port is the ultimate gift for marking special family occasions, particularly the birth of a child. Port has an extraordinary ability to age gracefully for 75 years and more, developing from a structured, powerful and robust young wine into a sophisticated and elegant wine in middle-age and then on to a delicate and almost ethereal beauty of wine that will continue for decades. Our Vintage Port Bond offers an innovative and practical solution to a problem we have long noticed and allows our customers to enjoy a Vintage Port which hold personal significance to them, at special occasions throughout their life. No other wine has such an extraordinary evolution, maturing superbly throughout a person’s lifetime.” These bonds are now available for purchase at several leading UK wine merchants including Berry Bros. & Rudd, Jeroboams, Selfridges, Tanners and Vintage Wine & Port.
Always the bridesmaid book review. Misstomrs magazine were lucky enough to be sent a copy of ‘always the bridesmaid’ by lindsey kelk. We do love a good book especially when its based around our favourite subject, weddings!! The book would be a great read for any woman out there especially if she has never been a bride!! Quote from director katherine
‘I think a lot of woman can relate to this, and it certainly made me smile.’
16 ROCKAS and& LOCKS
In terms of hair and beauty, I think you really have to jump out of your comfort zone and embrace a style which fully embodies rock and roll. For your hair, think quiffs or big up dos as this is a style statement in itself. Even if you think statement hair styles may be a bit much for you, you can have your hair down and loose with a quiff which will be more subtle but will add an extra something. For your make up, a red lip is a great option or even a deep berry lip will look brilliant depending on the colour of your dress. You can even go heavy on the eye makeup, for example a subtle dark smoky eye with a dark flutter of lashes will look seductive and edgy which is what this theme is all about! If you have a strong eye and lip look, keep the skin polished but natural- perhaps add a touch of pink blush to bring the whole look to life!

One of my wonderful crafting buddies Racheal at Foxglove and Gingersnap released pictures of her Photo shoot last week and as soon as I saw the pictures I just knew I had to feature them on this months blog. I am a massive fan of Rachael’s work, actually I’m a massive fan of Rach herself. She is fun, vibrant, with a wicked sense of humour and this really does show through in the beautiful things she creates. I was thrilled when she first told me she was going to dip her toe into the bridal market, she will undoubtably be a huge hit with alternative brides. Rachael is with out a doubt the Queen of Appliqués and has fused this together with her bespoke dress making skills to bring to us all her bridal range. Okay so the above bit is by me Gemma at Lotty Lollipop. Then these are Rachael’s quotes the dress designer: (Foxglove and Gingersnap) “Brides are going so much more with their hearts nowadays as opposed to ‘dictated’ tradition. I wanted to help those daring dudettes express themselves by opening up more options to them, in the form of appliquéd art incorporated into their gowns.” “Each seam is hand stitched and the appliqué designs themselves are all hand drawn and painted by myself. This gives each and every bride a unique one of kind of dress, for one of the most important days in their life” “In a sunny but windy day, we met at my house on the Norfolk coast and took the day in our stride. Getting to grips with feathered dresses in the wind, and getting some lovely shots strolling round the village where I live. We certainly raised a few smiles along the way. Its not every day you see two Brides and a Groom wandering around, fully adorned with bouquets!” “The backdrop was so picturesque, using the original fishing boat sheds from times when men would fish and the wives would wait on the dunes for them to come ashore with their bounty. Living in a fishing village, I wanted to incorporate the scenery and make it part of the whole ethos” Then these are all the people involved: Dresses by Rachael at Foxglove & Gingersnap Photography by Fuller Photography www. fullerphotographyweddings.co.uk Make up by Ezme Isgate Make up Artistry Bouquets, buttonholes and hairpieces by Miss Violet

GET INKED Hiring a tattoo artist may not seem the typical thing for a weeding but I think it’s a great idea for this theme! Now you may have to watch your grandma or grandad after they have had a few drinks to make sure they don’t end up with tattoos on their bottom (heard of stories like this before!) but if your guests are brave enough, your wedding party could have matching small tattoos as a memory of your day, for example a small music note on your ankle would look funky. If your guests aren’t into getting a permanent tattoo then perhaps have a henna tattoo artist. Your guests can have all sorts of designs yet they can wash it off so it may not seem as daunting for them! It will be great fun for your guests to have something extra other than the entertainment and it will be something for them to remember and talk about after the wedding too- they may even have a permanent reminder of your day if they choose to ‘get inked!’ PHOTOGRAPHY CREDITS Norman Rubenis http://www.rubyboudoir.co.uk/ MUA - www.michellegmakeupartist.co.uk DRESS: www.thedressingroomsbridal.co.uk/

are a company passionate about creating bespoke paper flower bouquets and accessories for your special day. We started 4 years ago when I got married I wanted a unique keepsake bouquet. I love creative meaningful gestures, so paper seemed the ideal solution. I had the poem my fiance read to me when proposing printed on all our paper roses. Since then we perfected a range of different flowers giving us the opportunity to create beautiful keepsake bouquets for all our brides. Weather it be for brides with allergies, brides who want a lasting bouquet or brides wanting to add a personal touch to their flowers. Paper leaves a huge opportunity to create endless possibilities to adding a personal touch to your bouquet. We have had Harry Potter inspired bouquets, music note bouquet using the couples favourite songs, sugar skull bouquets, book page flowers using pages of favourite books even copies of the couples love letters. I feel so priveledge to work so closely with brides to create a truly personal and unique keepsake bouquet, and would like to thank all past brides for giving us the opportunity to allow us to be a part of your day and welcome all new brides wanting to add that special touch.
