Beach themed weddings can really allow you to have fun in the jewellery department and I think you can have quite a few pieces of jewellery without it looking too much. Look out for pieces with tiny seashells in them- 'accessorise' have beautiful seashell necklaces and bracelets in stock which will look effortless and just gorgeous if you are actually having your wedding on the beach. They don't have to be white seashells either, I have seen some eye catching pieces which incorporate ocean blue seashells, something which will stand out against your dress and really add a wow factor. Talking of the colour blue, I think a piece of blue jewellery will mirror the ocean and look fantastic in photos- look for sapphire earrings or a blue azure necklace. Another idea other than seashells is starfish- yes I said starfish, just hear me out! On my travels, I saw the prettiest, most delicate little starfish earrings and I immediately pictured them on a bride who is having her wedding on a beach. They will look quirky and original- don't be afraid to experiment as I think a little token like that which mirrors your theme will really pay off. For a beach theme, I think the more laid back the better so that's why seashells and other beach items in your jewellery will look like you have hand picked them yourself and the extra special detail will make your whole wedding outfit pop! It will also serve as a lovely

A HOY SAILOR Whether your wedding is beach themed or you are actually getting married on a blazing hot beach, I think it's safe to say it is okay for the men to ditch the whole three piece suit attire! Of course they should still look smart but I think just like the bridal jewellery, effortless clothing is the way to go with this theme. Have the groomsmen wear baby blue or crisp white linen shirts with an undone tie and maybe a pair of smart shorts- shorts can obviously be swapped for full length trousers however I think you can get away with letting the men wear something a little less formal. If a traditional three piece suit is still on the menu then mix up the colour shirt for a blue, a sandy beige or even a baby pink- all of these colours will reflect the colours of the beach and sky. You could even have them wear a baby blue suit with a white shirt- it might be out of the ordinary but I think a beach themed wedding lends itself to soft colours perfectly rather than black or grey. The men could wear cufflinks which match the bridal jewellery, for example they could have a silver starfish design which is actually widely available in many jewellery branches. Also if they are wearing a suit, the handkerchief in the pocket could have a beach design on it- I think it's all about incorporating the theme in subtle ways when it comes to clothing, this will be more effective!

THE SEASIDE
The beach theme can really come to life through your menu and I have plenty of ideas up my sleeve to inspire you! Let's start with the classic dish, fish and chips. This is nostalgic and completely encapsulates summer days at the beach which your guests will love. Serve the fish and chips in a newspaper cone for the full effect and have mushy peas and condiments like vinegar on the side for your guests to choose from- my mouth is watering just thinking about it! You could also have fresh seafood such as prawns and oysters laid out over ice to keep them cool as a nice appetiser. Serve all different flavour ice-cream in cones with a wafer or a chocolate flake to really give that 'day at the beach' feel or serve ice-cream sundaes in large glasses, the ones you used to get as a child in the famous dessert place 'Rossis' at the beach! You could even hire an ice cream van and serve dessert out of that. There is always one parked along the sea front here in England so if that's the vibe you are going for, it will bring a bit of extra fun to the day. #throwback...... cakes by Janice Hull Cakes Photographs by Michelle Howard Photography

Hi my name is Michelle Howard I am a wedding and Portrait photographer. If I were to describe what I do, I would say cinematic. Well that’s the word I love. My work is inspired by book and the movies… I like to feel as though I have escaped somewhere different. I treat my photography the same… I want to transport you to another place. My weddings, transports your back to you day and to the possible moments you may have missed. My portrait work transports you to a place far away from the mundane. I want you to feel like someone new… lost in the moment. This is why I have now set up a team to offer professional makeup and hair styling. Along with props, accessories, and simple clothing that can add to the whole look. Our glamour and Boudoir images encapsulate my love of holly wood, when glamour meant glamour. I have perfected my poses to enhance any body shape. www.michellehphotography.com

Maps, Superheroes and Chutney Once upon a time there was a Boy, a Girl and two Doggies walking along the beautiful Lake Windmere. The boy, who’s name was Ben, out of the blue presented the Girl, Leigh with twelve Gerbera flowers. Ben told her that these flowers were to represent each month they had known one another, and on each of their stems was a brown parcel tag. Upon which was written a special
memory from that month. Leigh, had butterflies racing through her tummy as Ben asked her to go and stand by the lake for a photo. She went, dipped her toe in the lake and turned around to see him on one knee with the most ring beautiful ring in a little glass box filled with rose petals. "I wanted a wedding that would be us, and represent us as a couple. With that in mind, we didn’t necessarily go for a theme
of sorts, just classic, elegant and natural!" "We said from the start that we wouldn’t be swayed by opinion or tradition on what we should or shouldn’t do/have on our big day" "Instead of a guest book, we opted for a guest bench so we can read the messages whenever we want. It is currently at the foot of our bed and looks fab with everyone’s messages on there."

To decorate, you could have candles in lanterns dotted all along the aisle or perhaps around the reception venue with seashells around the bottom of the candle. This will look pretty and when the candle is burning, the shells will reflect the light of the flame making the lanterns look spectacular. You could also have seashell bunting which is a twist on tradition- hang them all around the chairs, along the table and anywhere you like to give your beach theme a little oomph. Twinkle lights are also a lovely idea and you could intertwine them with the seashell bunting to give a magical atmosphere- it will set a romantic mood and look really special in photographs too. In terms of bouquets, think wild and colourful flowers- ones that you would see at your favourite holiday destination. I think the more unusual the better and if you have a special flower which reminds of somewhere abroad then use that to make your bouquet that extra bit special. Or you could take the beach theme down the nautical route and have blue and white flowers with a bit of red- this will give a 'sailor' feel and can look really cool if it matches the rest of your decor.
