WHY WE ARE SUPPORTING THE Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Both women and men can be affected by it, so it’s important to be breast aware. Being breast aware is part of caring for your body and getting to know what is normal for you. You can then feel more confident about noticing any unusual changes and reporting it to your Doctor. Breast cancer rates in England have increased by 90% since records began in 1971. One in five cases of breast cancer are in women under 50. One in eight women in the UK will diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life which is pretty scary to think about, but thanks to research, more and more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before. Over 80% of women with breast cancer are still alive five years after diagnosis. Diagnosing breast cancer quickly and accurately is vital, as the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed and treated, the greater the chances of survival. We’re proud to be involved in supporting such an important cause and I’m sure this topic maybe close to many of our reader’s hearts.

Apparently it is a big thing in the wedding world at the moment to have a colour code theme for your guests to match the bride and groom so in this case, the colour code is pink! It is fairly common for brides to choose pink wedding dresses, in fact, it is thought to be the most popular colour besides the traditional white or ivory dress. For the men, wearing a pink suit may be too much so you could request for the men to wear a simple pink shirt or even a pink tie-this will keep it subtle yet everyone will tie in with the wedding theme. A similar idea could be applied to the dress code for women. Whether they wear a pretty pink hair accessory or even pink shoes, it will look great in photographs and that way, your guests will feel comfortable in what they are wearing. If the bride is wearing pink, the bridesmaids could wear a contrasting pink shade which is also a popular option at the moment. It’s all about having fun with your chosen colour theme and it will look great if your whole wedding party get involved.

Jewellery is the finishing touch to a bride’s look and what better way to look like a princess than to add some sparkle to your outfit. Look for rose quartz necklaces and earrings which are a beautiful shade of pink and are the perfect way to add some princess glitz and glamour to your bridal style! Bracelets also work well and can come in various shades of pink. It’s often nice to have a matching jewellery set however recently, clashing pieces have been popular so look out for contrasting shades of pink, for example wear earrings in a subtle rose pink then go for a brighter shade when choosing your bracelet. This will not only look on trend but it will awaken your whole bridal look. Pretty hair accessories are also a must for that princess look, for example add a subtle pink tiara or if you are having your hair in an up do, then dot around little pink diamond hair clips.

All of the finishing touches like flowers are what bring a wedding together. Seeing as we are talking about the colour pink, something that looks beautiful and elegant is pink roses dotted around the reception room. Whether they are placed in vases on the dining tables or at the entrance of the room, they will add a pop of colour yet roses will provide a sense of romance. For a more dramatic feel, why not try bunches of pink hydrangeas around the room or if you want to create an atmosphere of relaxation, use pink orchids for example. From flowers to favours, little pink trinket boxes with earrings in for your bridesmaids are a sweet idea or a pink bracelet charm is another lovely gesture! Most wedding companies will cater to your theme and make your chosen favours in any colour you choose so don’t think the colour pink is a restriction- have fun with it! Finally we all know the colour pink lends itself to a ‘princess’ theme which leads me nicely onto methods of transport to the wedding. The classic horse and cart will always be popular, much like the Cinderella carriage which many brides have opted for on their special day. For the purpose of passing others work off as their own!!! …. WHAT!! Yes, as their own!! Couples were left with work that did not reflect the style of work that they had originally fallen in love with. So how can you avoid this? Well.. I cannot say to you, that a cheap product is an inferior product! But I will say be careful of wedding packages that seem too good to be true, because they often are. Lisa is based in Sleaford and can provide a service to Lincoln, Newark, Nottingham and other surrounding areas. “Lovely fresh & seasonally grown cut flowers naturally grown in Lincolnshire on a small cutting patch. All flowers are grown from seed and nurtured into naturally inspired arrangements with a vintage country style.” Working on a personal basis with her customers, Lisa can put together mood boards so you can see what colours work best. You might be thinking how the colour pink can be incorporated into your wedding menu however it is easier than you think! I think ‘pink’ lends itself more to the dessert course which let’s be honest, is everyone’s favourite part of the meal anyway. Depending on the set up of your wedding meal, you could have cupcakes decorated with various colours of pink icing placed on beautiful cake stands- these can be scattered around the room, along the dining table or even served on individual plates to your guests. As well as pink icing, the cake sponge itself could be pink- perhaps the sponge could be strawberry flavour for example or if you prefer a traditional vanilla cake, add a touch of pink food colouring for that burst of colour. If you have decided to have a chocolate fountain or fondue as a dessert centre piece, include pink marshmallows, fresh strawberries and other sweet pink treats for your guests to dip into the chocolate. This will look fantastic and will really highlight the attention to detail you have put in. Effectively anything can be made ‘pink’ and if you can converse with your food caterer, they will give you ideas on how to incorporate such a colour. Even if you have your heart set on a dessert which is not pink then you could add a raspberry coulis for example or add pink berries around the plate for that pop of colour, it all depends on your personal preference.

We all know the traditional saying ‘pink to make the boys wink’ and there is nothing more beautiful than having a healthy pink rosy glow on the apples of your cheeks, especially for a bride. Cream blushes are the most natural looking option as they offer buildable colour yet they melt into your skin, making you look like you are literally blushing from within. Laura Mercier offer amazing cream blushes as well as Clinique and Bare Minerals to name a few- cream blushes are now readily available from most ranges and there are colours to suit pale skin as well as dark skin so you can’t really go wrong. Pink colours also work really well on the eyes- Dior, Urban Decay and Rimmel have great pink eye shadow palettes available at the moment. When I envisage bridal makeup, I see natural pink cheeks, soft eye colours and a pretty glossy lip so this pink edition is all about that! Pink or nude lips will tie the whole look together- whether you go for a nude lipstick with a slick of pink gloss over the top or a bright pink lip if you’re more daring, it will complete your blushing bride look. Using highlighter also works great with this look and you can highlight the tops of your cheeks, your brow bone and your cupids bow to bring your face to life as well as adding to that princess feel. Again highlighters can be found in both high-end and drugstore brands- try to look for one which has a touch of pink pearl in it to keep in with the ‘pink’ makeup theme.
