Do you have challenges getting your team members to upgrade and build their business? Are you spinning your wheels just sponsoring people with nothing sticking? Are your new recruits sticking around? Let me know below in the comments! If these three are a problem for you, the following is the best formula I have ever seen for coaching new team members into your network marketing business! Your recruits will stay around longer, they will buy more products, they will continue to purchase month after month.
What is the number 2 problem that distributors face in their network marketing business? Its retention! Recruiting is the number 1 challenge. We have tons training on recruiting here or here! But most of our niche does not have nearly enough on retention and coaching new recruits.
But… Retention is the number 2 problem! The reality is, if you start a new team member off correctly, they will stay much longer and buy more products! You will also earn 3 – 5 times more money!
But most sponsors don’t have a clue how to effectively coach their new team members. When you sponsor a new person on your MLM team, you are the coach! Why is this important? If your new recruit is not started correctly, chances are he or she will quit within 4 – 6 months. Don’t spin your wheels any more! You need to train your new team members how to commit to their business and to make choices that are in their best interest! There is a proven 20 minute formula for helping recruits commit to their business.
The first 30 days in his business is the most important in your new recruit’s business. This is when he is the most excited! He/she is more receptive and coachable in the first 30 days! Remember, when you coach a new team member, it is not a time to teach marketing strategies, techniques (or heaven forbid technical support question). They will get all of that if you effectively effectively commit your new recruits to the system and culture that your company has in place.
In writing this team building post, I have gone to one of the top team builder in the world, David Wood. I have personally attended nearly all of his live and recorded training that he has conducted over the last two years or so. I have also taken action on what he teaches. I refer to David Wood, because of his results. Check out the following: This data was provided by Ted Nuyten, from Business From Home – Top 200 Worldwide Earners in MLM – October 2015.
The screen shot below the article was provided by me. The $4.8 Million screen shot, was from an exclusive webinar training from David Wood. This showed his own personal affiliate earnings from Empower Network.
Check out our income disclaimer here! The following training is what David Wood calls his “30 days to $10K Formula”. He feels that strong about it! In fact his says that if you dont meet that goal, after following everything he teaches, he will have a personal talk with you, fix whatever you are doing wrong.
Have you ever played that game called “Chinese whispers”?
You know how to play Chinese whispers. You get in a room of say 20 people. You repeat a short story to the first person. This is what happens: 100% of story = Beautiful Tan Elephants. 50% Beautiful Brown Elephants. 25% Beautiful Brown Lyons. 12.5% Ugly Brown Lyons 6.25 % Ugly Green mice This is what happens in network marketing if you don’t commit people to plug into and be faithful to your company system. A systems based approach trains all of your organization with 100% of the information necessary to build their business! Don’t make building the organization depending on what you know. Even if you know 100% of what is necessary to earn $30,000 per month. David says that when people hit him up at events, he absolutely refuses to tell them how to do a strategy. He tells them to plug into the company training, system and culture. Everyone must be plug into the system. If your team plugs into the system, they get 100% of the information Your new recruits will make 3 – 5 times the income, than if they didn’t do these steps. Do a two part new member welcome call with each person you sponsor.
The following are the essential power step of David Wood’s formula… His coaching strategy has two parts! Each part is simply a 20 – 30 minute phone call.
Time of Truth…. You can watch my detailed New Member Coaching webinar below OR Just read on…
Coaching Call Part 1 – Has 5 steps
Step 1.Build report and connection. Step 2.Find out what THEY need, want and desire (why they joined, what are they here for). Step 3. Build authority and accountability.
(if they don’t follow assignments, there is something they loose.) Step 4. Plug people into your system and schedule them into a new member coaching. Step 5. Give assignments to complete before your coaching session. If you don’t complete the assignments, I will not allow you to come onto the next part of the coaching session. I have a responsibility to help people who are willing to help themselves and who follow commitments. If you don’t want to make commitments, this is probably not for you and you should quit.
Ask The Following Questions to new members: Be sure to take notes as you ask questions. Also Do not memorize these word for word. Dave rewords these questions every time. 1. Where are you from? 2. What do you do for a living. 3. Family? (children, grandchildren etc) (connect with them. Be creative, be real, be authentic) 4. What do you want to accomplish here in our company and why did you decide to join today? I want to find out why you are here. Then I’m going to give you some assignments. 5. How much money do you want to make here in XYZ company to make it worth your while? 6. What is the core motivation why you want to earn $X.per month. (family, freedom etc) In other words: 7. What would you do with your $X. In other words, What is that going to get you that you don’t have now? Dig deep into their core motivation. Ask more questions. In other words, (repeat in their own words) when you get the house, or when you get the car, or when you can afford what you want for your kids (etc) what is that going to do for you.
Now what your are looking for is an emotional shift! Listen to the tone of their voice are a feeling etc. Billy, I want to see how serious you are. Because I only want to work with people who are serious about getting results in their business. 8. How many hours can you dedicate to building your business doing exactly what I tell you to do to reach your $X per month goal and help your son get his education? …I want to make sure that the hours your work are focused on producing sales. This is immovable time! Refreshing Facebook doesn’t count. 9. What is your budget immediately to get your business started right so that you can get the tools, resources and training that you need in order to reach $XX/month and provide what you want (son, daughter, freedom from debt)? Go back to their goal and core desire, when you ask that question! 10. How much monthly budget can you make available before you hit your goal of making $X per month? Clarify the answer to make sure you are at the truth. If it does not reasonably allow them to reach there goal, redirect them. For example: In other words, Billy, you told me you are willing to put down $2,000 now, and $200 on a monthly basis, to get the education and tools you need to reach your goal of $10,000 per month and help your son get the education he deserves. Right? Let me ask you a question, are you able to do any more. In other words are you a little nervous OR is this is the number that you can really do? All Im looking for is honesty. Im always going to be honest with you. And I want you to be honest with me. I’m only going to tell you things that are in the best interest of your business. Repeat back what they told you they are willing to do. And have them repeat why they want to hit the $10,000/month. And you also told me that you are going to work 30 hours per week, focusing on income producing activities, no matter what. (barring emergencies). And you are willing to do that over the next year with me to get the results that you want. Is that right? 11. How long are you willing to stay focused here in XYZ company, before you hit $X per month, before you get discouraged and decide to quit. I want you to give it at least a year. Is that OK? Next… If you don’t answer this next question right, I’m actually going to tell you to get a refund. I believe in being honest with people. I also expect honesty.
12. If I give you an assignment and you agree to do it. Are you actually going to follow through on what I tell you to do every time? OR Are you the kind of person who doesn’t do what you said you’re going to do? As long are your are going to be honest and accountable, I am going to be honest and accountable with you too. If you break this…I’m probably not going to work with you again. It’s not that I don’t love you. It’s that I must commit to people who commit to me. So on a scale of 1 – 10 how serious are you about reaching $10,000 per month and giving your son what he deserves. (I want to know that you are honest and committed.) If he says yes. 1. We are going to work within your budget and (2)work within your time. Because I’m never going to ask you to do something that is not in the best interest of you business. Next. I want you to do a few things to get your business started right… You may want to tell him to upgrade in products at this time and/ or do the following commitments: Have Billy log into his back office, and tell him to do what is listed at the bottom of this page… and OR whatever else is in his best interest. For example: 1. Be on our new member coaching hangout (training) this________. Can you make it this ___________? 2. Watch our training videos, educating you on our products etc. 3.Fill out the *assignment worksheet. Sign it. And Email it back to me. *The worksheet can include any commitments recommended by your company. (training, events, hangounts etc) 4. When can you finish this by? What date? ____________ 5. Complete the Fast Start Training in our company.
I want to schedule the second part of our coaching this week. … I look forward to our coaching on Thursday
If you follow the assignments I’m giving you, and dedicate your budget in the direction that I’m going to recommend, I will help you get results as long as you stick around long enough for you to get those results. Does that sound fair?
On next session, assign what they need based on their goals and budget etc. Coaching Call – Part two: What have your prospects accomplished to this point? 1. There are educated on the products of your company 2. They know what the company events are. 3. You know what their goals are. 4. You know what their budget is now and a monthly basis. Not everyone will get in at the highest level. They will not all purchase the top level products. But that is OK. We take them all. When we focus only on what we want, we miss out on the other (smaller) sales.
ON this second coaching session 1. Confirm their commitments. 2. See if they have the products they need. If not, they are going to buy them now (within their ability, but ask them to stretch.) 3. Review the company’s core commitments. (attend events, Reading, audio, etc.) 4. Tell them what not to do. And tell them what you want them to do. 5. Review the commitment form with the new recruit that was emailed to them. 6. Review the reason why they want to achieve their financial goal. 7. Tell them to buy any products that are appropriate within their goals and budget. Next you are going to tell them what to do with their budget. Lets say they have $2000 now and $300 on a monthly basis. Do a call to action in three steps: I am going to have you buy two products then I’m going to tell you which modules to study in those products. 1. Log into your back office. 2. Click on the green button that says “activate now” for the ABC product (Inner circle or whatever your company has).
3. Click the button that says “submit payment”. And tell me when it’s done. You are walking them through each step AS they do it. You wait as the do each step. Do not go anywhere. Sometimes thay may say “I think I can do this on my own.” But I simply say, I want to make sure that you don’t have a hickup on the site. If there is a problem I’ll be able to help you out. Go go ahead and…. Next: 1. Click on the green button that says “activate now” for the DEF product. 2. Click the button that says “submit payment”. 3. Tell me when that’s done. That’s it.
In conclusion: Think about this, When you bring in a new recruit, your income is tied to how committed they are, which products they buy, and how long they stay in. Don’t blab at your new recruit. This is a time for commitment and accountability. Once that have made a verbal commitment. Email your assignment worksheet to your prospect. Have your prospect, email the signed worksheet to you. If they do not send it back, you are not going to help them farther. Be firm about this expectation! If you are not firm, what is going to happen is that your new recruit will bug you about every little thing in their business and never sponsor a single person. They need to make commitments to their business. To themselves, their family and to you. What is your number 1 take away from this blog post? Do you have any coaching ideas that have worked for you?
