TANGELIA KELLY

SHE TURNED HER MARKETING BACKGROUND INTO A ENTREPRENEURIAL POWERHOUSE! Temikia Kelly Stone, MHSA, CPM “Author Kelly Stone” Tangelia is an accomplished skincare mogal with many credits to her name. You will learn more about this marvelous young woman.

Tangelia Kelly, a 32 year old native of Brandon, MS, is the daughter of Will Kelly, Jr. and Gwendolyn Harvey Kelly. She graduated from Brandon High School in 2000, received a Marketing degree from Jackson State University in 2004 and a Master’s in Business Administration from Belhaven University in 2006. With plans of becoming a higher education administrator, she is currently a PhD Candidate at Jackson State University for a Doctorate of Educational Leadership with a Concentration in Higher Education. While maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Kelly, a member of Alpha Kappa

Alpha Sorority, Inc., has been honored with membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Lambda Honor Society and The National Society for Leadership and Success. In 2007, she found herself back at her alma mater, Jackson State University (JSU), where she climbed the career ladder as an Undergraduate Recruiter, Development Officer and an Associate Director of Annual Giving. While there, she was able to help develop JSU’s first social media recruiting initiative and direct the first annual giving program.

RODNEY McGEE, Photographer Kelly’s accomplishments continued throughout her tenure at Jackson State. She went on to manage the first campus phonathon call center and created the first online giving challenge, social media fundraising strategies and electronic appeals at JSU. Even though Kelly was excelling in her role at JSU, she began to pray for new challenges to prepare her for the next stage of her career. Kelly knew she was called to “do more,” and she wanted to be ready to tackle the hills and valleys in the journey. In December of 2013, Kelly’s prayer was answered, but it didn’t come in an expected package. She was about to start working on her doctoral degree and a new dream career in marketing at a local hospital when she discovered

her Plan B, Rodan + Fields Dermatology (R+F). “I had every excuse not to join Rodan + Fields when introduced to the business by Jayme Yates, a church member from Pinelake. I felt that I already had a lot on my plate,” Kelly says. “But after speaking with

Jayme and her mentor, Barbie Bassett, I quickly changed my view.” “I learned that Rodan + Fields was founded by the creators of Proactiv, a multibillion dollar brand with top earners making six figures a month.” Barbie Bassett, a Rodan + Fields consultant, was a great influence on Kelly joining

when she did. When Barbie shared her list of activities and duties (homeschooling, teaching Sunday School, writing books, instructing college courses, sitting on boards, forecasting the weather for American Family Radio), Kelly’s list seemed small. “Barbie was able to retire from her career as chief meteorologist for a local television station and go back to do the weather whenever she wants because of Rodan + Fields. She also retired her husband,” Kelly says. “Bassett is a Lexus achiever and became a million dollar earner in the company in less than four years.” In late December 2013, Kelly took a leap of faith and became an owner of a global skincare business through Rodan + Fields Dermatology, which was founded by Katie Rodan, M.D. and Kathy Fields, M.D. “I was clueless about skincare. I had been wearing foundation since high school to cover my uneven skin and thought I would always have to. Now that I’m foundation free, I want to share Rodan + Fields with others and let them know that makeup can be an option and not a necessity,” Kelly says. “We offer products to treat

wrinkles, pores, loss of firmness, skin discoloration, dullness, sun damage, acne, blemishes, breakouts, sensitive, irritated skin and more.” After Kelly joined, she quickly earned back the money she invested. Additionally, she was able to pay off her car note and several credit card bills leaving her with just a mortgage and student loans. Kelly enjoys being able to operate her own business on her own terms where and when she wants. The business is completely online, which frees her up from the hassle of inventory and deliveries. “You’re in business for yourself, but you’re not by yourself. We have an excellent support system and access to the same nurses who’ve been with the doctors since they created Proactiv,” says Kelly. “I’ve also developed lifelong friendships with my business partners, Team SKINplicity. They inspire me.” Team SKINplicity has consultants all over Mississippi and in Memphis, Tennessee. Kelly’s goal is to have team members in every

state and Canada, which will allow her to continue helping others achieve the best skin of their life and redefine their financial futures. Her future goals include earning a free Lexus of her choice and becoming an RFx leader at the top of the pay plan. Kelly’s secret to success is keeping God first in her plans and depending on his strength and not her own. “One of the first steps to becoming an entrepreneur is getting over your fear. It could be the fear of failure, the fear of success or the fear of leaving your comfort zone, ” Kelly says. “Like my mentor Barbie Bassett often says ‘If you’re afraid, do it afraid’. You have to get out of your own way.” “And, finally, don’t be afraid to make sacrifices. It’s only temporary,” Kelly says. For more information on Rodan + Fields, visit Tangelia Kelly at tangelia.myrandf.biz or send an email to tangelia@ymail.com. You can also find her on Instagram @tangelia_ or by following the hashtag #TeamSKINplicity.
