The JADE-‐RealAcad Partnership: About the origin of … RealAcad
As you might have heard, this year JADE has created a unique partnership with RealAcad, a non-‐for-‐profit ini2a2ve that organizes one-‐week training programs aimed to make the best students and young professionals “so much beYer”. JADE members and alumni that want to join one of the trainings at Stanford this summer are eligible for a $500 RealAcad-‐JADE scholarship and RealAcad has been helping to make our seminars top-‐notch by providing some of their insights in a break-‐out session in Brussels this past February. Several students have already applied and are in the admissions process right now. To understand this interes2ng organiza2on beYer, we asked the founder, Ankur Malik (on the right on the “Fun” picture below), how this interes*ng training concept was developed. His answer was astounding. In short: “the entrepreneurial way”. Read his story in the next page!

The JADE-‐RealAcad Partnership: About the origin of … RealAcad In 2004, Ankur had been working as a top management consultant with BCG, the Boston Consul2ng Group, since 1998. He was very successful, but was wondering "Is this it? Will I re2re in this job?" So, he decided to approach a team of smart students in his university in Singapore. He asked them, "Should I quit my job? You have 2 weeks to give your final answer as a number from 0% to 100%!" Ankur's close friend Miriam, who also had a career with a top management consul2ng firm, also flew down from Europe to Singapore to help Ankur and the team.
At the end of 2 weeks, the students had the found the answer, it was Infinity! They proposed that Ankur set-‐up Global Realizer Group (GRG) and helped to get the venture started. In a few weeks, Ankur quit his life-‐long job at BCG and commenced his new life as an entrepreneur setng up GRG's first venture: Nineo.com. At the same 2me, one student said, "Ankur, you should also con2nue to do this!" This -‐ what is 'this'? “Working with students to create a venture from scratch – we learned more in 2 weeks than in 5 years of university!”. The name RealAcad was chosen and the website www.RealAcad.org was developed. That’s how 'RealAcad' was born…the rest as they say is history.
Since then, RealAcad has developed into a Venture Management Program that involve 10-‐15 smart students and young professionals from all around the world and dis*nct program advisors and leaders from the top global companies. Together they would set-‐up a new venture from scratch within a week! RealAcad has had held programs around the globe in Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney, Fairfield, Barcelona, Brussels, Harvard and Stanford. Many exci2ng ventures have been created at RealAcad. Nearly 200 extraordinary young global leaders have ‘survived’ the intense learning process at RealAcad and moved on to become real change-‐ makers all around the world.
To get more informa*on on RealAcad and how to apply to this Summer’s programs at Stanford, you can check out www.realacad.org. And don’t forget to men*on you were referred by JADE to be considered for the $500
RealAcad-‐JADE scholarship.

Why
!
Why being a part of JADE is amazing... For us, networking is one of the key principles that make things move. We strongly believe that we, as Junior Entrepreneurs, are the best promoters of JADE and that human-‐to-‐human interac2ons maYer the most. So, you get to aYend fancy events and meet top management from various companies. Once, I aYended such an event together with Adelina Peltea, Vice President of JADE Romania, just before the official launch of our Confedera2on. There, we met the Country Manager of GROUPON. We introduced ourselves and just when we wanted to start explaining him what JADE is, he stopped us and said: “I know JADE very well. I’ve had a lovely collaboraCon with JADE in Poland”. The story con2nues and a few months later (and just a couple of weeks ago), I had a top level mee2ng scheduled with Microsol and Groupon, in order to market beYer the company I work for. I was just a 2-‐week old employee to this company, but when I entered the room, I realized that I knew both the representa*ves from Groupon and the representa*ve from MicrosoY (that was a B.O.S Junior Enterprise Alumnus, just like me). This really impressed the CEO of my company. It’s great being a member of a network filled with very workaholic students, that put a great passion in everything they do for their JE and their confedera2on. We are not only inves2ng in our future, but also we are helping local economies to grow, by sharing knowledge, contacts and by inves2ng 2me and effort into our JEs projects. So don’t forget, Why YOU are JADE! Andreea Paraschiv, President of JADE Romania
