1960 - Born in Historic Town Vellore 1983 - Graduated from University of Madras with Gold Medal in Architecture and University First Rank 1985 - Graduated from The Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning UC, Univ. of London 1980,81 and 82 - Louis I Kahn Award instituted by Vastu Shilpa Foundation, Ahmedabad by BV Doshi, India. 1984 - Sir Herbert Henry Bartlett Scholarship,UCL. The Award is to study and document 1806 mutiny of Vellore and listing of tombs of central cemetery. 1993 - Academy of Architecture Award, Paris France for the work done on Maisons Alfort Charenton Paris 1995 - Erode Mosque nominated for The Aga Khan Award for Architecture – 1995 Cycle.
The Practice The practice is a proprietorship concern registered in India with the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

HAMEED HOUSE – 1986 This house incorporated an “Inner Courtyard” with a water fountain and a “Wind catcher” These wind catchers are common in South Indiaparticularly in coastal areas. A visit to one of the towns in late 1985 inspired the idea….

Brief Biography Jaffer AA Khan RIBA is a gold medalist in Architecture from the University of Madras in 1983. He was awarded the most prestigious Aga Khan Scholarship Geneva to do his graduation at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, UCL,University of London in 1985. Back home he started his practice in 1985 and has designed nearly 300 buildings many of them award winning at national and international level. His projects are widely published and nominated to The Aga Khan Award during 1995 cycle (ErodeMosque-Periagraharam Erode-MIT Digital Archives). He maintains studios in Bangalore and Chennai and recently executed large residential projects in Bangalore. He has been a writer, critic and an academician apart from professional practice for quarter century and has written some hard hitting articles on Environment, Heritage and Philosophy. He heads MIDAS-Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi , affiliated to Anna University. He is a member of some of the world's most prestigious professional bodies including The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA),UK ,Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts(RSA),London and the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), NSW, Australia.
