Alle schatten op een rij Op 27 juni opende het verbouwde Mauritshuis zijn deuren. Eindelijk hangt Vermeers sensuele 'Meisje met de parel' weer naast topstukken van onder andere Rembrandt en Jan Steen. Zie hoe minutieus Fabritius zijn, dankzij het gelijknamige boek van Donna Tart bekende, 'Puttertje' schilderde. Of bekijk de verbeelding van de Hollandse winter door schilders als Avezaath. Hoe imposant is de 'Stier' van Potter.

De openingstentoonstelling vertelt het verhaal van het gebouw en zijn bewoners en is een passende hommage aan de rijke geschiedenis van het 17de-eeuwse huis.

In Den Haag heb je de kans op straat de koning tegen het lijf te lopen. De stad is immers al vier eeuwen de woon- en werkplaats van de Oranjes. Die historie is overal tastbaar aanwezig. Omringd door de leukste boetiekjes en de mooiste galeries ligt Paleis Noordeinde, het werkpaleis van de koning. Door de gezellige sfeer waarin het paleis is ondergedompeld, zou je bijna vergeten dat er ook nog gewerkt wordt. Dit kun je zien aan de wapperende vlag op het dak. Stad aan zee Den Haag beschikt over 11 kilometer strand in haar achtertuin, de moeite van het bezoeken waard. Voor een lange strandwandeling, een dagje pootjebaden, om te flaneren over de boulevard of grote zandkastelen

te bouwen aan de branding. Het strand leent zich ook uitstekend voor verschillende strandsporten, van vliegeren tot surfen. Van wedstrijden in het The Hague Beach Stadium in Scheveningen tot pannenkoeken eten op de boulevard van Kijkduin. In Den Haag gaan strandleven en stadsleven samen!

Paleis Huis ten Bosch / Huis ten Bosch Palace In het Haagse bos, grenzend aan de stad, ligt Paleis Huis ten Bosch, het voormalige woonpaleis van prinses Beatrix. Binnenkort zullen Koning Willem-Alexander en Koningin Mรกxima hier hun intrek nemen. Naar verluidt is de vijver van het paleis de plek waar prins Willem-Alexander, op het ijs, in 2001 zijn Mรกxima ten huwelijk vroeg. Paleis Noordeinde: werkpaleis tussen de winkels

Noordeinde: working palace amidst the stores

Midden in de binnenstad aan het Noordeinde ligt, ingeklemd tussen de verschillende boetieks en galerieĂŤn, het werkpaleis van de Koning: Paleis Noordeinde. Het paleis is in vergelijking met andere paleizen in Europa bescheiden en de ligging gezellig; midden in een Haagse winkelstraat. Loop je net nog naar de laatste mode te kijken, sta je ineens voor de hekken van het werkpaleis. Het paleis is niet open voor publiek om de eenvoudige reden dat het in gebruik is als werkpaleis.

Right in the heart of the city, sandwiched between the various boutiques and galleries, is the Kingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s working palace: Noordeinde Palace. Compared to other European palaces, Noordeinde is modest and enjoys a wonderful location on one of The Hague's shopping streets. After looking at the latest fashion, you could suddenly find yourself at the gates of this working palace. The palace is not open to the public for the simple reason that it is still in use a working palace.

Lange Voorhout / Lange Voorhout

Het Lange Voorhout is nog steeds een prachtige laan met lindebomen langs beide zijden en met de allure van weleer. Met je ogen dicht is het gemakkelijk voor te stellen dat hier vroeger de hoeven van de paarden klonken op het Schelpenpad. Steek het Schelpenpad over en loop langs het beeld van de Haags schrijver Louis Couperus, die hier ook hier zijn inspiratie voor 'Eline Vere' vond. Op Prinsjesdag vindt de Gouden Koets zijn weg via het Lange Voorhout naar de Ridderzaal. Lange Voorhout is still a beautiful lane today, lined with linden trees on both sides and exuding an air of a bygone era. Close your eyes and it's easy to imagine the clip-clopping of the hooves of the many horses that once rode along this shell-lined lane. Cross Schelpenpad and walk past the statue of Hague writer Louis Couperus, who found his inspiration for 'Eline Vere' here. On Prince's Day the Golden Carriage makes its way along Lange Voorhout en route to the Knights' Hall.

Urenlang snuffelen bij ontelbare kramen. De kunst- en antiekmarkt op het Plein is een waar Walhalla voor liefhebbers van antiek, oude boeken en prenten, kunst en curiosa. Hier kopen de mensen die van hun uitgaven graag een investering maken. Waanzinnig is de belangstelling voor een knusse kraam vol met oude prentbriefkaarten, gesorteerd op interesse en in mooie doosjes. Hoor het orgel oudHollandse liederen spelen, ontwaar een oud Haagsche Hopjes-doosje uit 1890 of ontdek een schilderij dat voor een speciaal prijsje van de hand mag. Een vergeet niet de gezellige terrasjes, rondom de markt. De markt is alleen op donderdag van 10-18 uur op het Plein.

Shopping in the Best City Centre

Winkelen in de Beste Binnenstad Den Haag mag zich sinds vorig jaar 'Beste Binnenstad van Nederland' noemen. En dat is niet voor niets. Loop maar eens over de Grote Marktstraat. Van winkelketens tot vintage shops, hofleveranciers en trendy winkelstraatjes; je vindt ze hier allemaal. De Nieuwe Haagse Passage, De Markies en Amadeus: binnenkort doen deze nieuwbouw-

projecten de kassa's rinkelen. Nu zijn daar al winkelketens gevestigd als De Bijenkorf en V&D. Maar het blijft er niet bij. Links verrijst De Markies, een klassiek pand, waar Marks & Spencer huisvest en Zara is gevestigd. De Nieuwe Haagse Passage herbergt veertien winkels en een hotel. Maar de grootste publiekstrekker komt aan het eind van de winkelstraat: de kledingzaak Primark, met vijftig tot zestig kassa's.

This year, the Netherlands is celebrating '200 years of Prince's Day' during a four-day festival. The splendour and grandeur in the run up to Prince's Day can be seen in the city around Lange Voorhout during the weekend and on Scheveningen beach on Monday. On Saturday and Sunday, follow the route taken by the Golden Carriage between Noordeinde and Lange Voorhout. At Binnenhof, monuments and institutions open their doors and organize a wealth of activities for young and old. This includes the Council of State, the 'White Palace'. Fashion shows, a hat walk and a special Prince's Day hat market have been organized and there is a special culinary programme featuring top chefs offered by the Limburg Embassy. On Monday evening there will be a special Prince's Day cabaret show in Theatre Diligentia. After the traditional Prince's Day on 16. Parkeren / Parking Op veel plaatsen moet je betalen voor het parkeren van je auto. Je parkeert meestal goedkoper in één van de parkeergarages. In de stad worden deze aangegeven door een parkeerverwijssysteem. Let op! Met een gehandicaptenparkeerkaart mag je niet meer gratis parkeren op de betaalde parkeerplaatsen op straat. Maak gratis gebruik van een van de 450 speciale parkeerplaatsen voor gehandicapten in Den Haag.

Goedkoop parkeren en met de tram naar Scheveningen of de binnenstad van Den Haag. P+R Hoornwijck is 24/7 geopend.

Inexpensive car parking in combination with a tram into The Hague city centre or to Scheveningen. P+R Hoornwijck is open 24/7.

Neem voor P+R Hoornwijck op de A4 afrit 9 (richting Ypenbug / Rijswijk Centrum) of op de A13 afrit 7 (richting Rijswijk/Den Haag Zuid). Vanaf hier rijdt tram 15 iedere 10 tot 15 minuten naar het centrum van Den Haag (14 min.). Voor Scheveningen kun je overstappen bij Den Haag Centraal Station op tram 9. Van half april tot en met half september rijdt iedere zondag tram 5 (in plaats van tram 15) rechtstreeks via het centrum van Den Haag naar Scheveningen (30 min.)

To get to P+R Hoornwijck take exit 9 (towards Ypenbug/Rijswijk Centrum) on the A4 or exit 7 (towards Rijswijk/Den Haag Zuid) on the A13. From here tram 15 departs every 10 to 15 minutes to The Hague city centre (14 minutes). For Scheveningen, take a tram 9 at The Hague Central Station. From mid April to mid September a tram 5 (instead of 15) departs every Sunday directly from The Hague city centre to Scheveningen (30 min).
