ARTISTS IN THE SCHOOLS Did you know the arts are part of the state core curriculum standards, and The Arts Center is the official “art teacher” for Jamestown’s elementary classrooms? Our students emerge ready for middle school carrying the basic design principles of visual art, as well as cultural and artistic experiences brought to them through the Artist-in-Residence program.

AFTER SCHOOL & MORE Every regular school day, The Arts Center provides after school arts programs for kids in grades 3 – 8. This program is unmatched in that busing is provided from schools to The Arts Center and from the Center home. The fun does not stop with the school day or the school year... artistic activities for the young ones are available in both visual and performing arts with weekend theater camps, family workshops, and summer kids camps.

“My daughter’s experience has been so positive for her. Being a shy girl, the Arts After School program really gave her confidence. It turned her insecurities around and truly made her love for art blossom. We would recommend this program to everyone!” ~ Alyson, Arts After School mother

FINE ART EXHIBITIONS

Come and see the art. The Arts Center has rotating exhibits in the main gallery and the lobby year round. One of the highlights of the year, is the Annual Juried Show taking place each fall. The Arts Center also collaborates with the Jamestown Regional Medical Center to feature art work in their rotating artist gallery.

ART FOR LIFE Helping make life better, longer… this program is designed to enrich the lives of the residents living at Ave Maria Village and the Heritage Centre. Through intensive traditional, folk, and fine art activities and the human interactions associated with them, Art For Life aims to fight the “three plagues” of loneliness, helplessness and boredom that adversly affect elders in care facilities.

“The student pen pals are all I hear about from other residents. They give us all something to talk about other than the news.” - Lilian Wood, resident at the Heritage Centre

“Arts education is a must in the schools, integral to the growth and maturation of our students. It helps them develop as individuals in ways that only the arts can accomplish.” ~ Bob, superintendent of public schools

ARTISTIC OPPORTUNITIES Whether you are looking to refine your artistic skills or try your hand at an art form for the very first time, The Arts Center offers classes and workshops for adults throughout the year in a wide range of media. We also offer many free interest-based groups and artful gatherings for those looking for something less formal.

“Having joined the class last minute, and being new to the community, I have felt a great amount of enjoyment finding a place where I'm evoked and encouraged to use some harbored creativity. The Arts Center is a wonderful place for both young and old to learn and begin new adventures. Thank you!” ~ Kendra, a new Arts Center member
