Page 3 DEAR ST. ELIZABETH PARISHIONERS: “What are you looking for,” is the question Jesus asks those first disciples in today’s Gospel. It’s a good question. Just before this scene, John the Baptist had pointed to Jesus as he walked by and told his own disciples “Behold the Lamb of God.” There was a certain amount of recognition, but little understanding. What did the words “Lamb of God” mean to them? Dutifully they responded to John by realizing this is the guy we should now be following. I suppose they had some idea of whom this Jesus was, but their understanding of it all was limited. Jesus sensing them following him turns and wants to really know why they are following him and what do they think they will find by following him. There could be many answers to Jesus’ question “what are you looking for?” I suppose it likely caught those disciples off guard and coming up with an answer was not easy to describe or even to really know. If Jesus were to ask you right now, “what are you looking for?” what answer would you give him? How would you describe your reason for following him? What is it that we are looking for? I think the answer we come to will have an awfully lot to do with how we follow him. Registration Folks I am hoping those of you who have not already registered as a member of our parish would do so today. In our efforts to formulate our plan for the future it is important to have a firm grasp on the number of our parishioners. We also need to update phone numbers, addresses and email addresses. If you are already registered and have moved or changed phone numbers it would be very helpful to fill out a new form today. We will have forms on the table as you leave today. I know there is always a little hesitation of registering and or committing to our parish. It is important for us to know our parishioners and have a firm grasp on the size and strength of our parish. Also, we are in need of people to help us with being a Eucharistic Minister to the Home Bound. This ministry unfortunately falls to a small group of people and we would like to be able to add to that number in order to help share the load. If you are interested in helping us please see myself or Sharon Ferguson for details. Run2Win4Him Rev. Jim Kirby
