The brief from Michelle Griffin allowed me to work closely with the stylists to produce a range of advertising to advertise their premium hair extension styles nationwide. Each style had an overall ‘look’ categorised by cities worldwide, connecting with the customer and evoking a feeling of high quality, yet being both fresh and stylish. Each city/look had to have it’s own identity, and these were decided upon with the client through regular consultations. The campaign was launched late 2013 both in-house and through the national hairdressing press, before being rolled out further afield.

The brief initially from Intel was to produce a guide to Intel’s new ‘Core’ processors. The guide was to be featured on a leading technology advice website and had to have the look and feel of the Intel brand whilst conveying a wide range of information. All the visual elements had to be produced from scratch as none were provided by the client. The design was well received by the companies involved and was used as part of the promotion of the new Intel Core Processors.

Mermaid Killer is a Los Angeles, USA based company that is an ethical, alternative fashion brand with an emphasis on making a difference. I was approached by Felicity Heath CEO of Mermaid Killer personally to design the entire 2014 Mermaid Killer range which was launched Feb 2014 at a major fashion show in San Diego, of which you can see the pictures of here. This was a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly creative company that trusted my abilities as a designer as well as challenging my organisation and time management as there would only be a small time crossover we could talk in due to the time difference. I was also tasked to produce a much clearer identity for the company that reflected their traditional dripping typography style, but could be used as a recognisable icon throughout all of their literature.

I have been working incredibly close with a brand new gym clothing and fitness business, from inception through to their successful launch and subsequent period of time. From designing their initial identity through to many forms of promotion and designs that are actually being used on a vast array of products from vests through to boxing gloves and the like. They have recently branched out into sports suppliments which you can see on the page to the left, which required a different identity that would fit with the overall vision of the company. It was not an easy brief as the world of bodybuilding was completely alien to me and I have worked closely with the CEO to develop a consistent and successful brand that now boasts 20+ professional athletes including Team GB athletes and World Champions as clients.

The Male Grooming Room is a new direction for an existing client I have been working with for a few years now. They wished to branch their business out into a more male directed initiative focusing on the traditional male grooming techniques. This company is in the process of building their salon which I am working on the interior design for, as well as a range of products and marketing materials.

The brief from Irregular Choice allowed me to work with a creative multi-national company to produce both the Spring & Summer, and Autumn & Winter Look Book that the company used in their worldwide locations. I worked closely with the Public Relations company Dust PR to compile a creative outcome for Irregular Choice to showcase their ranges of shoes and accessories whilst retaining a sympathetic aesthetic for the overall brand. This involved a lot of visual modifications to provide a layout that was acceptable for the company to use across all of their marketing including promotion of the company to the worldwide market.

Working with Calon.TV and S4C I was required to produce a style guide and promotional document for the animated aeries ‘Ig: The Cavegirl’. I had to work closely with the animators and production company to compliment their own vision as well as bring a clear visual style for others to interpret. These others ranged from other animators, TV executives and potential toy companies with view to create wide ranging opportunities for the brand. The brand was bought by various European TV channels, including Channel 5 in the UK and is now called Igam Ogam.

Working with Calon.TV and S4C I was required to produce a style guide and promotional document for the animated aeries ‘Bryn Terfel’s Animated Arias’. I had to again work closely with the animators and production company to compliment their own vision as well as bring a clear visual style for others to interpret. The brand was bought by various international TV channels.

South Bromsgrove High Inspiring confidence through learning

The school had just moved into a brand new £20m PFI building and wanted to move away from some of the ‘out-dated’ representations of them and reflect their new visions as a forward thinking and modern learning establishment. The logo was designed to be crisp and modern, the use of the blue was to link back to the heritage of the original uniform worn at the school when it opened over 50 years ago. The logo went through many developments and revisions to fulfil the requirements of both the Local Education Authority, the school body, the school’s governing system and the local community.

ABER

CHOC POPS Aber Choc Pops is a brand based in Aberystwyth, Wales, making handmade chocolates, lollipops and bespoke confectionery for events. As a new brand they wanted something fresh, funky and showed off the type of direction that the company wanted to be positioned in. The logo was negotiated upon to deliver just this. A simple design that allowed for the use on packaging and stationery that would be eye catching to the consumer.

Ampersand magazine is something of a passion project that I started in 2012; it is a project to promote the fresh new creative minds and designers of the world that perhaps doesn’t get the exposure that they may deserve. The magazine is primarily based online, and works with new designers and creatives to generate content; however the complete editorial design is solely my responsibility. The magazine has a website constructed by myself.

Through my work with Gym Being, I was given the opportunity to brand a new fitness nutrition range that would encompass a wide variety of different products on offer to those within the fitness industry. The client had a particular look in mind for the brand and the brand created above fitted their requirements perfectly. The choice of colour and the inclusion of the ‘.com’ was an essential requirement of the brief. the branding will be used across web and print design, as well as being incorporated into packaging for a range of products such as whey protein etc

SCOTT HARRISON-JONES PHOTOGRAPHY A photographer that I had worked with on previous assignments gave me a brief to create him a new website that would allow him to stand out against other photographers that were local competitors to him and to present a more professional impression as he had begun to work with large corporate clients. It is a simple yet effective HTML based website that showcases the work and professional information needed to improve the credibility of the service.

Whilst working at Worcester College of Technology I have had the opportunity to work on many aspects of the marketing and promotion of the Art & Design vocational area to the wider community. The projects have ranged from simple advertising of exhibitions that have appeared in the press and associated magazines, through to identities for the overall area. One major contribution was to the ‘My Course, My College, My Future’ campaign that has appeared everywhere from local advertising to the back of buses and beyond!
