On behalf of our family we would like to welcome you to our 16th Annual on Farm Bull Sale! It truly is unbelievable how the years fly by. This will be our 16th sale here at home but we have been selling bulls private treaty and in joint bull sales for 5 decades now and are proud of that fact! We would really like to thank our faithful customers over those years but we would also like to congratulate those of you for sticking it out in this business it truly can be a grind at times but that being said and the prices we are seeing now I do believe we are are finally on the edge of something that will make that hard work and perseverance finally pay off! Let’s cross our fingers and hopefully enjoy the ride together.

We always try to provide a down to earth program and don’t claim to have a whole pen of silver bullet bulls that will be the your savior but we do try to provide our customers with as much information as possible about our bulls so you can make a well informed decision about your purchase. We believe the pen is consistent in type but yet provide differences to whether your looking for a calving ease heifer bull or more of a maternal based bull or a bull with a bit more performance.

All our bulls sell with a registration number and Canadian certificate except there is one in this sale we know his sire, we know the sire of his dam but DNA results won’t let us figure him out further. All bulls sell with weights, birth and adj weaning and yearling weights no self manufactured charts to fit our management style. We calve just over 200 mother cows and sell 40 to 50 bulls a year so just under half will make the sale. We cull hard feet, scrotal, dam structure, performance all are considered in our culling criteria. The bulls are not over fed by any means, with ration set for 3 lbs/day gain enough for them to insure proper sexual development and show the genetic potential they may pass on to the calves you may raise and sell in the fall or sell after back grounding through winter.

We have been working with the same Vet for our breeding soundness examinations for 14 years now Dr. Carman Langevin provides us with that service we do not jump around from vet to vet because we may not like the measurements. She provides a honest examination for both the buyer and seller in mind.

If you can stop prior to sale day on April 3rd that would be awesome we love giving that one on one advice or information about the bulls and give you as much info as we can and make the list of selections that will most fit your goals in your new herd selections. If you can’t pre visit give myself or Nolan a call we can give you that info over the phone or email as well. Videos of the bulls will be posted on our website and Castlerock website approximately 10 days before sale day this is an excellent way to preview the bulls at your convenience.

If you cannot be with us sale day we do provide internet viewing and bidding with Livestock Media Plus as a provider they may not be the house hold name out there for livestock sales that you maybe familiar or used to but they are very helpful getting you registered and prepared to view and bid. We don’t think the internet provider should not be the reason we do not do business together. Livestock Media Plus info is listed in the front cover pages familiarize yourselves with that info early to avoid frustrations.

Make sure you join us sale day for a great pre sale meal we are told it is one of the best of the bull sale season. Our neighbor Petey does a fantastic job! Oh what a year 2023 is shaping up to be, to date the weather short of a few days has been fantastic and the cattle have done well with that. Just wait until we experience a proper rainfall, temperatures making for solid hay crops and an abundance of feed in the country side.

Eastondale has again put together a strong set of bulls for you as their valued customers and there is no secret to this recipe of success. The goals haven’t changed over the years, by just breeding cows that are sound and right that have the ability to raise good calves that are beneficial to the beef industry and commercial producers the rest comes together on its own. We know you can’t have your cake and eat it too in life but in the breeding of these cattle by aiming down the middle the extremes are avoided adding to consistency and predictability, something we all appreciate. Culling has been relentless in this pen of

bulls and starts the minute they’re born and carries on throughout the year as the wheat separates from the chaff so to speak. No need for fancy subjective scoring charts to describe the bulls are the genetics they represent, they are all available sale day for you to appraise, better yet stop in ahead of the sale and get a one on one tour to make your decisions yourself.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager.

Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. No by-bidding will be permitted. A reasonable price base may be set.

Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Certificate of Registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made.

Breeders Guarantee, Bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of purchase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time.

Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

Mail or Telephone Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Rights and Obligatations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
