Welcome to Function and Finesse 6.0 and thank you for your continued support and interest! We are thrilled to present the sixth set of outstanding Gelbvieh genetics for your appraisal. With cattle markets at an all time high, we are called to match those markets with a higher quality product. We believe this offering does just that!

We remain humbled by what Function and Finesse has become. When we began this venture in 2019 we never dreamt it would be where it is today. We are honoured this event is a trusted source for high quality Gelbvieh females by both established breeders and young producers alike. We work hard to assemble an offering to fit where the industry is headed knowing that if we focus on where we are right now then we have fallen behind. With this sixth group coming together, we see the true mission of this sale come to fruition - to put hard working, maternal oriented, high quality mama cows into the world. We are so proud of the females we have sent to work.

As always, we must give thanks to the group of people who make this event possible. Some of our most trusted and closest friends allow us to come into their programs to select females to create this offering. We are excited and proud to welcome Classic Cattle Company to the team this year. The Edwards family of Cobden, Ontario have so many of the characteristics we believe will move this breed forward.

The complete set has been managed here at Twin View which allows us to present you with a consistently prepared group. This eases your selection process without sorting through a variety of presentation methods. The cattle are often out grazing to meet their needs. It is possible to buy elite quality, practical and common-sense cattle in this breed and we believe they are here at Function and Finesse.

We remain staunchly dedicated to the most modern practices and each lot is presented with the most in-depth DNA profile possible including parentage verification, polled and colour testing as well as a 100K profile in most cases. We encourage you to follow updates available through the CGA registry for current EPDs.

We would be honoured to visit with you before the sale and welcome you to Twin View anytime. First and foremost, this is a people business so we hope you can join us for a bite to eat, a cup of coffee or perhaps something stronger. We can’t wait to see you on Friday, October 18! Function and Finesse is one of a kind. It is a celebration of our breed’s leading ladies. Be sure to bring the leading ladies in your life along for our hospitality!

AWB BIRCH’S GRACE 178D 1 Lot

CDGV159586 AWB 178D 3/10/2016

Opportunities to access the heart of a breeding program are rare. With some hesitation, much discussion and several moments short of breath, we are proud to offer one of our newest donor females to the world, Grace 178D! Quite simply, she’s a stunning beast! She steps down on a great foot, she’s extremely sound in her skeletal design, square and balanced in her udder type, and does not compromise shape, mass, and frame. She is phenotypically so good but then throw in a balanced and user friendly EPD profile and a completely outcross pedigree and your options are limitless.

Grace 178D earned her way to the donor pen based substantially on production. She has nailed her assignment each and every time. Her first daughter sold in FF 2.0 to Diamond Acre Farms, her second sold in FF 3.0 to MacDonell Farms and sons have sold to Last Mountain Livestock and Eldor Ranch. In her only flush for us, she produced 15 embryos by Vendetta. The results have us on the edge of our seat! You’ll see them beside her sale day along with her natural son from 2024 who is among the best we’ve ever made! We have four more from the flush coming in 2025 and know we will be integrating her sons next year so we feel it’s the best time to share Grace 178D with the industry. The baby on board could again be the best yet with her early mating to Twin View Universal 22L who was purchased by Goodview Gelbvieh this spring. He will be the anchor to our show string this fall and we’re sure his story is just getting started.

She sells in her entirety, no holes barred! We’ll be watching closely and have no doubt your success with Grace 178D will be as great as ours! AI bred April 11 to AWB Twin View Universal 22L ET. Exposed April 30 - June 19 to CIBS Dunbar 3962L. Preg tested safe to AI breeding.

LML SAMANTHA 41M 2 Lot

LML Samantha 41M is a big barreled, tidy fronted sweetheart with unlimited potential. She hails from the well known Samantha cow family, already no stranger to Function and Finesse. A maternal sister to 41M sold to Lane Wall and he’s done an awesome job of campaigning her the last couple years as his 4-H project. To add to the genetic potency of the Samantha cow family, 41M is sired by a son of the lot 1 donor cow! Last Mountain got him bought and the first calf crop looks great. We think Samantha has big time potential as a junior project with her attractive side profile and sound structure. The best part though is the mother cow she’s sure to become!

KCC Just My Luck 134M is a fancy, stout made, long bodied female with an attractive front third. She’s so elevated up out of her front shoulder, giving her that desired show ring profile. She’s got an awesome disposition to go along with her good looks making us confident she could be an ideal prospect for a junior early in their career looking to build some confidence. Her dam was purchased here in F&F 2.0 and went on to raise a bull futurity entry for Keriness. We all know it takes more than just luck to win, but we think Just My Luck has all the goods to make winning in the show ring and pasture a reality!

BBG MONROE 23M

BBG Monroe 23M is a big time female with the structure, genomics and phenotype to make her a force to be reckoned with. Braylen had said they had a pretty good red heifer calf before we went to visit. We quickly realized he was being humble when we fell in love with Monroe the moment she hit our sight line. That’s not to say it didn’t take some convincing for Carlie to share her with the world

Monroe is big bodied, stout in her design and comes backed by a proven pedigree. Her dam was purchased in F&F 2.0 and has gone on to be a donor for Blakes. She’s raised a couple other heifers including a Sweetheart selection at Agribition. Monroe is from the first calf crop of Hustle, a feature son of the great Sugar cow with a royalty type pedigree. Hustle is proving to calve like a dream without giving up a pound of performance. We believe Monroe has so much to offer the industry no matter what direction you choose to take her. This is a truly special opportunity to own one of the highlight heifer calves in our breed this fall!

AWB TWIN VIEW UNIQUE LADY 35M

CDGV186067 AWB 35M 2/8/2024

AWB Twin View Unique Lady 35M is a performance oriented female who has impressed us with her steep early growth curve. She stood out from an early age for her cool side profile but when you get in behind her she’s wide over her top and stout right down into her hindleg. 35M is backed by some maternal powerhouse cows like the Unique Lady family at JSJ Livestock as well as Natalie and Baha then the 383A cow on the paternal side. We love the mating of Bonanza with the 6J cow and 35M is the second from this matchup. She is designed really well structurally and one we think could be competitive on the end of a black halter. This lady is unique!

CDGV187055 ZAL 57M 3/13/2024

ZAL Diamond Z Million Dollar Baby 57M offers an outcross pedigree to most in a high performing, heavy muscled and hairy package. She’s just a March born female who competes comfortably with her older counterparts. She is from the first calf crop by the Bullseye bull who was Diamond Z’s selection from the Gustin program in North Dakota while her dam originated from the well known Winder program. The Carly 96C mother cow is a five time Dam of Merit who has proven to provide impressive performance from birth to weaning. There are 4 other active daughters of 96C in the registry including another Dam of Merit. We believe Million Dollar Baby has a bright future as a mother cow with maternal merit bred in!

AHA 3M ET 7 Lot

SVF Baha 3M ET is next to carry the Baha name and boy, oh boy, is she up to the challenge! This is a beautiful heifer who’s so easy to appreciate. It’s easy to imagine her with a black leather halter at the front of the class. She has a killer look with gorgeous extension through her front third and great big flyaway ears. She absolutely explodes from her shoulder back with a sweeping rib design and big time volume all while floating around on ideal structure.

She reminds us so much of her mama who was a hot commodity in F&F 2.0 to the Edwards family. We were thrilled when they let us remain a part of her and she’s gone on to do big things. She hung her share of banners but her production is what really speaks for itself. She produced Bold Ruler, last year’s Canadian National Champion bull and it looks like we’ll have a bang up set of sons from her next spring again. Of course we would have loved to get some heifer calves for ourselves but we’re pretty excited Carson and Colin agreed to share Baha 3M through Function and Finesse! She is already well traveled, successfully making the trip from Ontario to hot, dry Saskatchewan in July. She handled that like the champ she’s sure to be with her laid back, easy feeding nature. Lethal show heifer, potent mother cow, future donor…SVF Baha 3M ET is up to the challenge!

JOE MADE IN CANADA 343M 8 Lot

CDGV187257 JOE 343M 1/19/2024

JOE Made In Canada 343M is a stylish, attractively designed female. We love how she carries herself with confidence and how elevated she is out of her front shoulder. Her dam was purchased here at Function and Finesse and she’s now two for two when it comes to making bang up heifer calves. Last year’s edition sold to Westcott Gelbvieh as one of the true feature heifer calves. Made In Canada is sired by a bull raised by Joe and Brenda out of one of their most beloved cows, Molly. Made in Canada offers an extremely balanced EPD profile and has “big time opportunity” written from end to end!

Marlowe is sired by Viking who is a Baha son that did a great job at Diamond Z for three years before moving to continue his career for a commercial producer. Her dam is a beautiful half-blood cow with as much rib shape and heart girth as any. The Angus side of her pedigree traces back to the prominent and widely respected May and Emblynette cow families from the Schaff program. Whether you choose to make them purebred or percentage, Marlowe is an extremely versatile female with unlimited mating options!

AWB TWIN VIEW PATSY 17M

Twin View Patsy 17M is a gorgeous, boldly constructed beast we have held in highest regard from just a few days of age. She has a captivating look about her that stirs your insides up and makes you dream big.

Patsy is a direct daughter of one of the most buzz worthy bulls to ever walk here, Grizzly Red. His daughters are awesome, hard working young cows. She is the result of her mother’s first effort but her grand dam, 127F, is already a two-time Dam of Merit. 127F raised Twin View Vendetta who was the National Junior Calf Champion to Stonegate Farms and Glendale Gelbvieh Stud of Australia. She then raised the 77K female and she’s just weaned one of the highest performing heifer calves we’ve ever had.

We are excited to have Patsy 17M be part of our show string this fall at Farmfair and Agribition and we hope to see you at the photo backdrop. Twin View Patsy 17M…this female is a rockstar! And you don’t need to go Crazy or Walking After Midnight to find her. She’s here at Function and Finesse!

The Mystique 115G cow also raised one of the most loved females at Triple S, Sparkles, who is beautiful no matter how you slice it! Magic is a daughter of one of the walking sires at Triple S, an E.C. son back to a Prairie Hills cow. She’s sound and good on her joints and we really appreciate that structural integrity. GRACIE GAYLE 27L ET X DUNBAR

A year ago when the Function and Finesse went live, our phones almost instantly started buzzing about lot 1! The choice of three heifer calves from the Gracie Gayle cow family had people talking. When the dust settled, it was JSJ Livestock and Del Wyatt who teamed up to make their pick. We were thrilled when they offered to include us in their plans as they selected Gracie Gayle 27L. She quickly began writing her story when she was National Heifer Calf Champion as well as Senior Calf Champion at Agribition. We debated letting her calve and getting into production before flushing her but when we got Dunbar home, our gears started to turn. We did a single round of IVF on 27L after she was safe in calf and we are excited to offer the entire collection here. We are selling four IVF embryos eligible for Canada only and we’ll give you a fifth as your guarantee. You can’t get any closer to the ground floor of our work - the first Bar None daughter to be offered combined with the first genetic material from Dunbar. 27L and her flushmate brother will headline our show string this fall. Have your bidding arm ready at sale time. This is a golden opportunity!

LEDGERWOOD LUNA ET

Opportunity is knocking in a massive way here! We work hard to create an offering that serves  not only the functional demands of the industry but also the finesse we’re all looking for. Luna knocks it out of the park whether you choose to analyze her for the function or the finesse!

Luna is a remarkable beast who offers a completely outcross pedigree to every animal north of the 49th. She is the only Baller daughter registered in Canada. Aaron did an extensive US tour this winter and was consistently impressed with the sire group. He felt they offered additional muscle shape and overall mass than many.  Luna is just that! She is so multi dimensional, stoutly constructed, beautiful in motion and gets around on a great foot. Her dam is one of the primary building blocks in the Ledgerwood program with 18 registered progeny. Phoenix is none other than the dam of Apollo as well as several other bulls who have seen duty on the purebred side. She also raised a wildly popular feature female in F&F 2.0 to Unger Land & Livestock and is the grandmother to several other past lots of this event. She was already popular on display at the Junior Show this summer and this future donor is ripe for the picking. In fact, with her additional age, you’ve got plenty of time to build an embryo inventory before you breed her next spring. Phenotypically, genetically or on paper, Luna is the whole package!

OPPORTUNITY TO FLUSH YOUR CHOICE OF THE

Gayle Cow Family

When we started Function and Finesse, we knew that we would have to offer unique, cutting edge opportunities rarely offered. Here is that opportunity for F&F 6.0! If you have followed our program in any way, you know the Gayle family is one we hold dear. We love these cows! We were asked a couple years ago how many Gayle’s we needed. The answer was simple. “There will never be enough!”

The Gayle family traces back to Aaron’s first days in the breed and includes Dams of Merit, Dams of Distinction, generations of donors and most importantly, industry leading production females. When we started Twin View, we chose to branch that family off into the Gracie Gayle’s, a family that has truly been a guidepost to our work. They have produced National Champions, Futurity Champions, donors and sent multiple herdsires into purebred and commercial herds in Canada and the US. And now, we invite you into the heart of our work to take your pick and flush your choice of any cow in the family owned solely by Twin View. There are currently 14 to choose from ranging from polled fullbloods to high percentage purebreds, from light tan to black and from some of the best young females we’ve made so far to already proven donors. We believe this opportunity is special and offers the opportunity to create your own next great one!

We would be happy to assist in sire selection and access to certain bulls in our inventory is possible. The conditions of the flush will be dependent on the female selected but we will guarantee 6 freezable embryos.

PREGNANT RECIPIENT

Right from the heart of the Ledgerwood program comes a pregnant recipient cow carrying an embryo out of She’s So Sassy by CCMF Mr. Impact 46C ET. The resulting calf will be a maternal sibling to both Rampage and Jigsaw, bulls who were campaigned very successfully and used as purebred herd sires. Jigsaw is a three time champion bull at the NILE in Billings and the dam, She’s So Sassy, was a class winner in Denver. On the sire’s side, Mr. Impact is a direct son of the original HYEK Black Impact bull who certainly was impactful in the breed with over 2300 registered progeny in the US.

The recip cow is JLSL 815F - a functional, trouble free purebred female who has produced a son of her own that sold through the Ledgerwood bull sale. She has proven herself to be a workhorse mama cow when she raised that fall born beauty in lot 17. She found herself in the ET pen simply because she cycled at the right time and she has now caught both embryos implanted. There’s some serious bank to be made in this one!

Her sire, from the Maude program, has impressed at Ledgerwood for leaving no nonsense, sound made cattle. They are moderate, tidy uddered females often not the first ones noticed in the pen but their production is off the charts! We are starting to see that High Caliber’s real value lies in the females he is going to put into the breed. 91L’s young dam raised a nearly identical full sister this year who is in the replacement pen. She is safe to the widely admired All American bull for a black January baby. Gwen is maybe among the more unassuming females in the offering but trust us when we say she’ll be a workhorse!
