Wright Cattle Co 2025 Bull Sale

Page 1

Welcome to the 1st Annual Wright Cattle Company Bull Sale, 2025 online edition!

On behalf of our family, Hayes, Kirsten & myself, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support, interest in our program and friendship throughout the years.

The 2025 edition of the sale is one that we are very proud of! Whether you are a seedstock or commercial producer, we feel the bull pen has something for everyone. Our family is a third generation seedstock producer and the basic principles in breeding these cattle have remained the same. Sound, stout, productive good cattle; cattle that add value to our customer’s bottom line. These characteristics, we feel, stand the test of time and something we have tried to replicate year after year. As we enter 2025, the cattle industry and optimism are at an all time high. This is the time to invest in genetics that will reap the return on investment, where high genetic merit cattle will be sought after in these historic times. Our cowherd is one that we are very proud of; they are females that truly work for us, as we work full time off the ranch. Our breeding philosophy is very simple - we need cattle that are very fertile, low maintenance, cows with good udders that wean heavy calves. Ultimately, pounds pay. The bull pen, whether it is Red Angus, Black Angus, or Simm/Angus bulls, they all are stout, good footed bulls, with muscle and performance. We utilize AI heavily at WCC, this in turn helps with the genetic advancement of our program.

Please feel free to contact us, in regard to, any of the sale offering. Our capable sales staff is also available to answer any questions about the offering or, simply, offer a third-party opinion. The sale opens on DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions Sunday, March 2nd and will close Monday, March 3rd. We would love for you to join us at the Rapid View Hall for the closeout of the sale with supper and hospitality provided. The cattle are available to view at any time at the ranch; we would love to tour you through the bulls.

Sincerely,

The WCC Program

BREEDING/GENETICS

Our cowherd utilizes Artificial insemination heavily; this allows us to be able to invest into fresh and current genetics at a more rapid pace. We strongly believe in our cow herd fertility, as we run a tight breeding window. We AI as many of the cows and heifers on their first natural heat and our cleanup bulls follow in a short breeding window. Embryo Transplant is another tool we incorporate into our program for genetic advancement. We utilize our own donor cows and purchased embryos to maintain a current, unrelated, genetic base for our customers.

BULL NUTRITION & DEVELOPMENT

Cow herd and Bull nutrition are closely monitored throughout the year. The bulls receive free choice hammer milled oats and protein supplement mid-august in preparation for weaning. They are then transitioned to the same ration along with grass hay, free choice salt, and mineral. The cowherd grazes until late October on tame and native pasture. Upon returning to the ranch in the fall, the cows graze hay regrowth or millet/ryegrass swathes till mid-November. The next transition for the cows is where they start eating on a forage-based tub ground pile prior and post calving. Bulls actual weaning weights were taken October 6th, 2024.

Allow me to introduce the lead off bull in our inaugural bull sale, Red Wrights Jumpstart 447M. 447M is a February born bull who has been an early favorite around the ranch from a very young age. 447M is sired by the 185,000.00 Bieber Jumpstart bull, who we incorporated into our AI program to moderate calving ease, add performance, and growth. 447M’s mother is a low maintenance, big-bodied cow that is highly fertile and very good uddered. 447M is a bull that is very correct in his skeletal build, he is sound, up headed, and proud. With enough mass and overall muscle, he is a bull that is impressive from all angles.

414 is another big, burly, high performing Jumpstart son. 414 is a bull that has added frame and performance, while, still maintaining a masculine appearance. 414 is a long-bodied bull with added width and dimension over his top with a big square wide hip. 414’s mother is a big, stout, dark red, Red Six Mile Killswitch 135Z daughter. She has added frame and bone, while still maintaining a very good udder.

SIRE OF 414M
LOT 414M

Soft made, deep ribbed, and easy fleshing best describes 450. 450 Is a bull that reads with tons of maternal, while not sacrificing any of the performance to his contemporaries. 450’s mother, 79D, was the first ET daughter born at our place when we moved to Rapid View. She is a cow that would rival any heifer to this day for udder quality. If you’re looking for a maternal, low maintenance option, 450 is the type of cattle you should consider.

460 is a bull with added performance, maintains a moderate frame, has an attractive look coupled with an expressive muscle pattern. 460’s sire was a home raised bull we used for two years before we lost him this summer due to a broken leg. He was an easy choice to incorporate because of the cow families that he had on both sides of his pedigree. 460’s paternal grandmother is our leading donor cow here and one that we have sold genetics from all over the world. Good footed, good haired, and masculine in a high phenotype package.

402 is the big outlined bull in the pen. 402 has the added frame and performance to really elevate a cowherd. If your desire is to increase frame score and overall scale, 402 is the option for you. 402 weaned heavy and with his added growth, I would expect, the same growth pattern to transmit to his offspring. Along with his size and scale, he is good haired, making him one you notice. Big time performance in this New Era son!

406 is the performance bull of the red bulls. Big stout hipped, added muscle and length of body that exhibits an early maturing masculine look - best describes 406. 406’s mother, 2F, is a big-bodied cow that is easy fleshing and fertile, that is low maintenance and highly maternal. 406 will add extra growth, muscle, and overall added mass.

413 is the bull that we are using to initiate a group of calving ease prospects. 413 is sired by Bieber Blue Chip H302 that we used on a group of heifers to increase the predictability of calving ease. 413 is moderate in his build, deep ribbed, exhibits expressive stifle muscle and boasts a masculine appearance. 413’s mother is a very moderate Combination daughter that is good footed and nice uddered; one that got the memo raising 413.

SIRE OF 413M
LOT 413M

422 is another Blue Chip that offers calving ease, length of body in a neat attractive package. 422 is good footed like his Duff Red Blood mother who is a tremendous cow. 422 will be a bull that has a great deal of maternal merit without sacrificing any performance to a calf crop. 422’s masculinity, muscle shape, and masculine front end is something that as a mature herd sire will be impressive.

464 is a darker red, heavy muscled son of our walking herd bull Township 17K. 464 is moderate in design but, doesn’t lack any performance or muscling that the older more mature bulls offer at this point. 464’s mother is an efficient, easy-doing cow that has been steadfast in her production. 464’s mother has a tremendous amount of foot quality and fleshing ability.

438 is the only son of our Supreme Champion bull, Combination 34G. 438 sports a dark red haircoat, he is black footed, has a tremendous amount of spring of rib and muscle. 438 is one that has a very high phenotype and does not sacrifice masculinity; he is very good headed. 438’s mother is a highly fertile female that just gets the job done in a very efficient manner.

472 is a natural son off our black-red carrier donor cow 544A and our walking Township son 17K. 472 boasts an impressive weight per day of age, he is a bull that will offer performance and will transmit a high degree of maternal quality to his offspring. 472 is a bull with added shape, spring of rib, he is square on all four corners and one, for his age, we think quite highly of.

457 is another dark red, long bodied 25K son, that has added capacity and coupled with an early maturing look. 457’s mother is a moderate, efficient Lazy MC Spyder daughter. 457’s mother has a perfect Angus head, a great foot, and is very easy fleshing.

445 is a bull that is very complete. 445 has added frame and substance; he is one that has stood out for his center of body dimension and capacity. 445’s intriguing look and masculinity draw you to him, as he transmits a true angus look. 445M was mothered by a perfect uddered SAV Bloodine two-year-old. His dam is a true work horse and she put every effort into raising her first calf.

456 is a true beef bull; big topped, deep sided, easy fleshing with a high level of structural integrity. 456’s mother is an elite cow within the Canadian Angus herd book; she demonstrated why she has that status while raising 456. 456 is a bull bred by Larry Macnab; we took advantage at his dispersal sale last fall to incorporate some of his genetic base in our cowherd and they did not disappoint! If your goal is to raise those hairy, stout made, angus sired calves, 456 is a bull that should accomplish just that.

357 is a bull that saw service last year and was used on a handful of females. 357 was an in dam purchase from E&L Ranching; we purchased their “pick of the herd” of their two year old females at Red Roundup in 2022. 357 is a deep ribbed, easy fleshing bull with a big square foot and lots of scrotal. 357 will be ready for the big pasture and a two-year-old bull of this quality is hard to find!

449 is another long bodied, good muscled bull out of a tremendous Macnab bred cow. 449’s intriguing build and design is something that really draws you to him from a phenotype standpoint. 449 is a bull that is excellent structured, smooth made, and very true when he is in motion.

417 is a true power bull; massively built and heavily constructed. 417 has the added muscle, expression, and capacity that will certainly power up a calf crop from a performance stand point. W/C Rapid Fire was used heavily the last couple years because of the added muscle, body and style. W/C Rapid Fire transmits an ideal hip and hind leg to his offspring; siring both productive, heavy milking daughters and marketable bulls. 417 is a complete package!

SIRE OF 417M

459 is one of my personal favorites in the bull pen! 459 is soft haired, square hipped, and stout. 459’s mother is an impressive Soo Line Motive daughter - she is massive bodied, good looking, and awesome uddered. 459’s phenotype, coupled with his muscle, and attractive look is something we try to duplicate in volume.

428 is a real beef bull. Curly haired, massive in his muscle pattern with a cool blaze face. 428 is another W/C Rapid Fire son that injects carcass and docility to his offspring. 428’s mother is a great uddered Baldy herself and a cow that truly was a favorite by everyone who has seen her. 428 is good footed, sound structured, with a very calm demeanor.

The word ‘intriguing’ best describes 437. 437 is massive hipped, good marked, and stout. 437 is sired by W/C Bet On Red, who is a high phenotype sire that has added maternal value. 437 is a bull that gets me excited; he gets your imagination running! If you were to use him on a group of angus-based cows, the possibilities could be endless. If you like cattle with some punch, cattle that have some grow, this bull has the quality to transmit that onward.

443 is another attractive made W/C Bet On Red son with added hair and look. 443’s mother is a fantastic 9-year-old cow that we all wish we could have more of. 443 is a square hipped, deep ribbed, soft made, but still maintains a masculine herd bull look. Longevity and maternal merit join forces here in a real complete package.
