From Primitive to Parametric Hut From Primitive to Parametric HutNew Vernacularism with Digital Materiality and Tectonics Digital methodology has been dramatically changing how architects think and make buildings over the last two decades. The emerging technology of both parametric modeling and fabrication tools enables a paradigm shift of architecture by exploring a more adaptive and expressive forms and spaces. However, the pervasive adoption of this global free form-finding process in architecture ends up irrelevant to local culture and economics. One may find it difficult to differentiate a complicated, curvilinear geometry from another as they share similar design concepts and formal approaches with the same digital tools. We have to admit, at a certain level, architecture needs to share universal qualities such as Vitruvius's "firmitas (solid), utilitas useful), venustas(beautiful). Laugier's "Primitive Hut" may best demonstrate such fundamentals how architecture originates from nature and speaks for itself. Even so, new technology (e.g. concrete) gives totally diverse representations in different environmental o social contexts.

__[CURVED] Wood Feather Hut
Trying to take the texture from the animal- like teather of bird as a unit. Take the unit into copy and become a surface ro protecture the people inside. So I using the the change of the water vapor to male curved wood, and slit the plywood and inlay to form a surface. Under the change of the curvature, how the plywood can inlay is different, so the restriction is different. After this research, apply on the Rhino and grasshopper to calcuate and build out the whole wood huts.
02
Process of production: changing materials, and composition Materials Processing In the beginning of the first ,study the characteristics of the material . In order to soften the wood, because of the curvature of the wood be influenced by the changes of water vapor . So put the wood into the water to heated to soften the wood. And then, bent the softened wood into a module variant, and heating to shaping.

Base on the limitation of the material, define the extend range on X axis , Y axis and Z axis. Define the Y axis : The length of bending wood is the projectin long, be defined by the angle(θ) and the curvature. Define the X axis : The minimum range of inlay is 3 cm, the maximum range of inlay is a / 2. Define the Z axis : The minimum range of inlay is 0 cm, the maximum range of inlay is 4. In order to achieve arc, when we are define the arc, the angle and the length of the tagent must be controled less than the sum of the square of the length plus square of the width and square root.

Eatscape Reshaping Eatscape in Taichung Down Town Centre. Through Mughal Game and UPDAMI By small and minor intervention strategies for most Asian townships would be the proper way for needs of future and sustainable development due to the considerations of strengthening vernacular identity (such as food culture, ritual activities, festival events, etc.) as well as constraints of financial support from central and/or local authority. On the other hand, how one can tease out a proper analytical model to scrutinize the existing physical environment to work out the most effective microscopic intervention scheme for Asian township development has become the most critical issue in Asia’s urban design practice. Thus, this design studio proposes to examine the feasibility of the “Urban Parametric Diagnosis and Acupunctural Microscope Intervention (UPDAMI)” conceptual framework for the Asian township development issue mentioned above.

SHARED KITCHEN New eatscape with shared food and cuisine Due to the important development process of the military community in Taichung down town and the change from the Japanese occupation to the Republic of China, the military community has become an integrated focus of the Chinese eight different provincial cuisines. At the earlier stage of the KMT party ruling period in the 1950s, people lived in poverty. They tended to help each other in the military community and they shared food and learned to cook cuisine from others. As a result, there is a very special mixture cuisine eatscape phenomenon that emerged in the military community in the whole Taiwan. A new design proposal has suggested developing a new eatscape culture within the declining city centre with the idea of sharing with food, which was popular in the military community during the 1950s. Customer will first buy food in the market and then choose from different kitchens with each different flavor and will eventually meet together in the different restaurants that they provide each of their own ingredients from different kitchens’ names. In this way, different kitchen cooks will provide different cuisines to the visitors.
14
Historical Background : KMT (Kuomintang) party 眷村時期 Through history residents get to know how people live here in the military community and how the people eat together here during the KMT ruling period from the 1950s on. What is the dwelling culture here in the military community? Moreover, what is the most important memory to share in the military community? It is concluded that people always share food and cooking skills as well. At the time of the KMT early ruling period, the soldiers came from different provinces of China. Like a river, they brought in Chinese eight cuisines together with them and then developed these cuisines into their own eatscape features. The kitchens in those military communities can be referred to the Pond; they have become the places where mothers stayed and chatted. They also learned and shared how to cook eight cuisines in the kitchen. Besides, the entrance of the military community, there were always vendors gathering there to sell different kinds of Chinese pasta and especially Chinese bread. The shopkeepers got to know whomever entered the community clearly, just like Gatekeepers; they stand on the front line, and guard residents’ security carefully. In the community, mothers play an important role; they always wander in different kitchens to learn different cuisines. They even cook out some unique flavor after exchanging experience from each other. Like Gardener, they learn from each other but they will also insist on their own tastes, and cook a cuisine that belongs to them. One of the famous meals is Beef Noodles; they combined Chinese Lanzhou noodles with Sichuan spicy

flavors together, like Hammam, to create a new taste for their daily meals. They came from different places from China and mixed the eight cuisines from eight different regions here to tell their own stories. The Mother of each house behaves

Mughal Game: Try to generate the Shared Kitchen Eatscape in the future Based on the eating culture before, this proposal intends to reconstruct the future eatscape STORY image in the declined centre of Taichung. After playing with the Mughal Game, five elements were obtained naturally to reconstruct the future eatscape as mentioned above. Through the five elements one can reveal tangible or intangible phenomena embedded in the historical society to recall back the hidden memory of the food industry in Taichung City.

Function
Based on the idea of sharing with food from the military community, this project tries to figure out a new eatscape in down town Taichung. The old people in the military community provide skills of cooking but very often one finds the old eating style appears to be without providing fresh ingredients. The Buyer can choose the ingredients they want in the market and find different flavor kitchens (i.e., restaurants) nearby to cook for him or her.

Location : Try to find the existing old milatary community and possible site for intervention Try to find the existing old military community and possible site for intervention. Go back to Taichung Down Town to search for an old military community. To observe the neighborhood nearby and to define the use of the abandoned buildings on site will be proceeded. To find out the spatial structure of the site and look for the possibility of development scheme would be the next step. Finally, this project will further define the events and activities, which should occur on site in the future.

Re-Searching Workshop Re-Searching Brussels Workshop between KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture - BELGIUM and TunghaiUniversity TAIWAN . In this workshop three different research methods will be introduced to the participants. These methods have been developed by different researchers in the field of architecture and urban design to compare, to build the understanding and to initiate discussion about the sites. Eatscape track– Guidance (Chotima Ag-ukrikul) The quality of city living depends closely on the quality of its everyday life and ‘eating,’ among many everyday activities, contributes tremendously toward how people experience a city. ‘Eating’ involves everybody every day (Chase, Crawford, and Kaliski 1999); and the recurrence of these everyday acts of eating craft their traces onto the physical space of a city. Eatscape in this workshop is about building the understanding of the impacts of commensality2 on the urban life. Through Eatscape and a designer’s lens participants are encouraged to use bodily experience to discuss ‘what makes a place its particular experience and feels to us’ and transfer this knowledge in the form of a design proposal.
25
INVISIBLE BOUNDARY This project intends to redefine the boundary clearly and enhance the invisible boundary In Taiwan , People are always using the lamps hanging in the sky to define the area of the temple festival. People who join this event should follow some principles defined by the temple, such as eating vegetarian food only and worship and celebrate together. But in Belgium, people tend to use the parterre to circle the out door dining area. But in some way, its boundary appears to be rather ambiguous and not well defined. So I am going to redefine the spatial boundary to focus on invisible elements and to make the boundary look more symbolical with intriguing features.
26
Eatscape track: Choosing the site Participants will be given pre-selected Eatscape sites to carry out fieldwork, where participants are also asked to reflect their experience through a designer’s lens following a list of Eatscape research approach. At this site called St. Catherine Church, one finds lots of tourists, students, workers, and passers-by. Here the restaurants always extend out of the building to the park, which exhibits a special phenomenon.
This is from the left site to see the site.

28
Blurred boundary: Describing the boundary of the restaurant This restaurant's dining area has been divided into three parts, namely indoor, half outdoor, and outdoor space. Customers are free to choose seats, but the waiter will take the initiative to ask ahead of the meals. One area where one finds pedestrians inadvertently sitting down to rest is the most popular space just across the sidewalk to the park district. In this outdoor sitting area there is no clear sign related to the neighbouring restaurant, it is only surrounded by trees and streets. Clearly, there is no well-defined boundary between public and private domain in this outdoor space. Thus this blurred boundary tactic adapted from the restaurant’s owner has contributed to making people misunderstanding the definition of space and as a result the area becomes an intriguing feature for the restaurant to attract people to sit and enjoy their meals in a very easy and natural way.

The body of temple festival In Taiwan, people always use lamps hanging in the sky to define the area of the temple festival. Once one’s home has been defined in this area, then one needs to follow some principles defined by the temple to celebrate together.

The body of cottage There is a Lavender cottage in Taiwan. This cottage is very far away from the city. People need to drive a long distance and tend to get lost easily. So the cottage owner started to make a purple mark on the electric line pole to provide drivers with a guide to arrive at the destination easily.

Simultaneous modernities Simultaneous modernities Kamla Raheja Memorial Lecture Series PAAU Platform For Architecture And Urbanism workshops 19th to 23rd January 2014 THROUGH THE LENS The core idea of the workshop would be to enhance observation and reactions to the city, it's people, spaces and their interactions. For the same, the students will be shown a selection of some of his works, as a photojournalist documenting the city's happenings and as achronicler of some urban quirks, such as the street templesof Bombay, the afterlife of political posters and a new series that he began last year called lunch time which is essentially photographs of office goers and workers taking naps during their breaktime in a public garden.

There is kinds of stuff can be transported. Example of the schoolbags and bike. At each stop, the people always gather together to helping each other to taking the stuff up or down of the bus.
LINKING linking to the memory before At he moment of here, I was linking to the memory I have before. When I was young, I have move house once before. Everyone be divided into different part of the transport. Some are good at attentive, than they are charged of organize and packaging. Some people are good at integration and command, so they are in charged of control everyone. And some people are good at strength, so they are in charged of move the goods. Each one are in charged of different but assist each other together. I think that people work together in the word, so the attitude of cooperation is very important.

Rethinking The Future International Architecture Thesis Awards 2014 International competition Rethinking The Future (RTF) was born from the idea of creating a new window on international trends in architecture and design that looks on to the solutions for the need of the era i.e., Climate Change. RTF is a hub of services for architecture and design. RTF is working to develop an architectural language that would ‘sustain’ and ‘survive’ the impacts of climate change taking sustainability one step ahead. A future that aims to meet human ‘needs’ while preserving the environment so that these ‘needs’ can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations. A ‘future’ with less of stress and more of humanity. A ‘future’ in harmony with the nature.

Children's Healing Field A field of healing disease by creativing activities. In Taiwan, hospitals are designed from the viewpoint of management, in order to manage the patients easily. But the systematic management leads to an enclosed environment. Moreover, the diagnosis and treatment processes may not only contribute to mental tension, but also result in a deterioration of the physical condition. Children need more attention and more care to comfort their feeling of fear when they are in the process of treatment.I propose to design a healing environment specifically to meet different needs of comfort for children’s diseases. Such as the Department of Cardiology needs training of children’s vital capacity, thus to create a climbing space would be necessary. Furthermore, gastroenterologists need to stimulate the stomach digestion of children, so to create a running space would be important. I try to classify all different diseases to classify them into various types of treatment environment as per needs of activities required in healing processes.
