To the Coolest Kids on the Block,
In 6 short weeks, I’ve been blessed enough to hold space in your presence. I’ve been welcomed by your eager spirits and laughed at your silly jokes. I’ve even been able to see enough of each of your personalities to know how unique you each are. I cannot promise that we will meet again - I also can’t promise that we won’t I may see you again or have you in one of my workshops in the future, but in the event that I don’t, I want to leave you with this:
What I have learned from watching you all work together as a team and create a story from scratch with limited instructions and limitless possibilities, is that kids just want to have fun They want to learn what things mean, they want to create fun worlds to be in for a moment (or forever if you can), and they want to express themselves and be heard In your journey as individual humans, I want you to remember this experience as the time you either learned or were reminded that you have a right to be heard in this world Your voice is necessary Your contributions are a big part of the story being created. Do not be shunned, silenced, or embarrassed for using your voice Use it for good And for fun But also know when to listen It’s ok to give your voice a rest. Just don’t let it be thrown away. Each of you are an example of love and what imagination looks like when spoken out loud. Keep up the amazing work at being YOU!
Take your time speaking and when you do - make each word count for something good!!!
Great job with this story - I am super proud of all of you!!! Keep writing, creating, drawing, and being exactly who you are !!!!

The Missing Part I. The Walk
13-year-old Bridges
TaTwayvion III
was riding his bike to his friend, Big Randy’s house on 65th and Shadeland. Along the way, he spotted a monkey sitting on the street. Knowing the zoo was located all the way downtown, far away from the hood he was from, he thought to himself, “hmm, ain’t no zoo around here” before continuing to ride on. But then, the next thing you know, he spotted a big elephant and then a huge gorilla nearby!
Startled, he hopped off his bike and ran back home. And it was good he did; when he got back, he remembered something – he forgot to walk his pet fish, Cabinet!
As soon as he opened the door, Big Momma popped out yelling at him: “Bridges TaTwayvion the III !!! You forgot to walk Cabinet and you better get to walking that fish or you’re gonna get a whooping!!”
Not wanting to get in trouble, he grabbed Cabinet, ran out the door, and headed back to Big Randy’s house. Along the way, he saw the zoo animals are gone and his bike was still where he left it He dropped Cabinet and ran to grab the bike Poor Cabinet, still on the leash and wet from the fish tank, started flopping down the street He needed to get to water quickly!
Bridges road his bike, fish in hand, to Big Randy’s house and knocked on the door.
Randy opened the door saying, “What's up Bridges!” before dapping him up and letting him in.
Bridges stepped in and told Randy, “I gotta bring Cabinet in. He needs water.”
Since Big Randy didn’t have a fish tank, they decided to put Cabinet in the tub.
They grabbed a stopper and filled the tub with water before dropping him in.
Then they thought Cabinet might enjoy a few bubbles so Big Randy grabbed a bottle of dish soap and they added some of the water.
But it was too much soap and Cabinet was once again in trouble!
Acting fast, they snatched out the stopper to let the bubbles out, but all the water went too. Meanwhile, poor Cabinet had ingested too many bubbles and had to fart to relieve himself. It was so loud that both Big Randy and Bridges ran out of the room to get air spray.
then they heard a faint -
They returned with a can of off brand lavender Febreze but when they got back, they noticed something –
- Cabinet was gone! He had been sucked down the drain with the bubbles and the water.
“Helpmeeee!!!!
- from inside the drain.
The Missing Part
Cabinet
II. Down in the Drain
Cabinet was swimming down the drain when he ran into RataTwowee the Rat.
RataTwowee was trying to show Cabinet the way out when they ran into a hungry PennieWise the Clown, dancing.
The dancing paralyzed and hypnotized them both and gave PennieWise the chance to eat off RataTwowee’s head. While PennieWise ate his head, Cabinet swam away quietly. As he escaped, he ran into Mr. Kenny the Centipede.
Mr. Kenny was mean!
He had 100 legs, no friends and had been stuck in the drain drinking sewer water. He was also getting fat from all the sewage and his stomach was swelling up. Cabinet took notice of Mr. Kenny’s weight and started roasting Mr. Kenny.
He said:
“Youlooklike someuncooked Avocada!!”
AND THEN
MR. KENNY SAID:
“YOULOOKLIKEAFAT, UGLYWOLF!”
Unimpressed and staring in silence, Cabinet laughed and said, “that joke wasn’t good. Also, you look like a dehydrated pig.” They kept going back and forth until an audience began to gather. There were some famous faces down in this drain.
Lebron James the Ant, Stephan Curry the cockroach, Kobe Bryant, the daddy long legged spider, and even Alvin and the Chipmunks. There was also a small lady named Wavy Hodges there too. She had been stuck in the drain for the last 10 years and had been down there doing Tik Tok dances.
The audience was cheering on Cabinet’s insults, and Mr. Kenny started to get mad. So, they started fighting. They were punching each other but the drain was wet, so they were sliding all over the place.
Cabinet was a brave fish. Even though he got punched in his eye, he kept on fighting when suddenly, he heard the voice of his Bridges:
“Cabinet!!!! Where are you???!!!”
The Missing Part III. The
Cabinet
Reunion
Big Randy & Bridges ran and grabbed full body suits before heading outside to look for a way to get into the sewer. They also put on helmets with flashlights so they could see in the dark spaces. After walking down the street, they found a manhole. They climbed down the ladder in the hole and once at the bottom, they made a left turn.
PennieWise, who was still alive, was down there dancing.
Big Randy and Bridges almost got hypnotized,
but once PennieWise tried to eat Big Randy’s head, he got smacked in the face and knocked out by Bridges. They continued to walk through the sewer, lost while trying to find Cabinet.
Cabinet heard the commotion and called out to both Big Randy and Bridges just as they approached a fork in the sewer. There were two opposite ways to go and Cabinet’s voice sounded like it was coming from both directions.
Armed with a grocery store bag and a drum, they chose to go to the right.
Bridges started beating on the drum while Big Randy held the bag open.
“Why yes I have,” she replied. “I was just at a fight with them! I’ll show you the way.”
As they beat on the drum, Wavy Hodges came down the hall doing a Tik Tok dance to the beat. Big Randy and Bridges started dancing with Wavy before asking if she had seen the missing Cabinet.
Wavy Hodges started walking.
Then she had them turn left.
them turn right.
As soon as they turned left, there was Cabinet!!!
As soon as they saw Cabinet, they both yelled out:
“Cabinet we found you
Cabinet’s tail started swishing back and forth as they are reunited, and he got excited. As they looked for the way out, Cabinet told them the story about all the people he met, the fight he got into, and how he wanted to throw a party for everyone.
Together, Big Randy, Bridges, and Cabinet make their way up the ladder and back out of the manhole, leaving the sewer behind for good.
“Why sure my friends; may your wish come true! Abracadabra!”
“since you’re a leprechaun, why don’t you throw us a party!”
When they got to the top, they spotted a Leprechaun with a magic wand.
As soon as he said the magic words, party decorations appeared with lots of food, a gigantic cake, and even Karaoke.
All the friends that Cabinet made in the sewer came out and so did the zoo animals Bridges saw on the way to Big Randy’s house.
Turns out, they were friendly and looking for something to do. Jailynn the monkey kicked off the karaoke by humming, clapping, and singing the NayNay song.
The party was so lit that everyone joined in with her to dance – Gabby, Dai’Lynn, Elsie, and Shy-Shy all started dancing. Alijah the Gorilla got on stage right after her and sang Chicago by Micheal Jackson. He was joined by Andrew the Elephant. The Leprechaun had also turned Big Randy’s house into an escape room.
Shy-Shy, Andrew the Elephant, and Yairet all went in to see if they could win.
As the party went on, Big Randy, Bridges, and Cabinet stood back and smiled. They were glad to be out of the sewer and have something fun to do. They started dancing as the music played on.
And everyone lived happily ever after.
