Internship Summer 2023 Atlanta, Georgia AutoCAD Final Plans- Main, DIM, Planting, Hardscape, Details Blair Chesnut

Description GTL gave a task that consisted of taking a hand drawn master plan and digitalizing it within AutoCAD. After completing the master plan, I created a planting plan, dimension plan, hardscape plan, two details, and site calculations to be in line with the Fulton County laws before being submitted to the city.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration behind this design was to take advantage of the exisiting architecture. The College of Enivornment and Design building attached to the site was modeled after a 1960’s modern brutalist design with sharp angles that blend in with the surrounding environment. The goal was to create a “modern twist” on nature and showcase the future of our college. The cool toned plantings and materials were chosen to be a calming environment for one to get away from the college atmosphere

Internship & Job Experience 2021-2023 Atlanta, Georgia - Athens, Georgia Gardening Crew - Installation Crew - Maintenance Crew Carmen Johnston Gardens & Gardens to Love

Description

For almost three years, I worked part-time for Carmen Johnston Gardens. This role consisted of me working on a gardening crew planting new annuals, new shrubs, and maintaining plants year round for each property. During my time with my internship, I was able to work along side with master gardeners, experienced maintenance crews, and even installing a backyard plan with two other individuals within three days. This installment was very personal considering I helped out this plan from a computer down to pouring in pea gravel.
