Sarah Owen
President and Chief Executive Officer Southwest Florida Community Foundation Sarah Owen, president and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, leads a passionate and diverse team dedicated to cultivating regional change for the common good. The Foundation is committed to connecting the community through conversations and actions that create sustainable positive change and leverage the funding to make those changes a reality. Sarah’s journey into the nonprofit sector followed a career in investor relations, public relations, and corporate communications. She worked for publicly traded companies on the New York Stock Exchange and private companies throughout the Southeastern United States. Her corporate experience was in the automotive and engineering industries, and innovators and entrepreneurs who were developing emerging technologies sought Sarah out to create strategic communication plans. Sarah brings this focus on innovation to her work at the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. In concert with a visionary Board of Trustees, Sarah is guiding the Foundation in reimagining its role in the region. In 2017, Sarah oversaw the execution of a public-private partnership with the City of Fort Myers to create Collaboratory, a $10.5 million project
BUSINESS HALL OF FAME
funded with New Market Tax Credits that opened in late 2018. Collaboratory comprises the rejuvenated 1920s Atlantic Coast Line Railway depot and a technologically advanced 14,000 square foot addition designed to support the vital work of the region’s nonprofit organizations, businesses, residents, and visitors. Through her leadership, the Foundation has become laser-focused on regional issues affecting the quality of life in Southwest Florida, gathered hundreds of community leaders and stakeholders around these issues, and has grown the Foundation’s assets to become one of the largest funding organizations in the region. With a commitment to measuring the sustainable impact of the Foundation’s efforts, she led the effort to align the organization’s cause areas with global Sustainable Development Goals. Sarah shares her leadership at the national, state, and regional levels. She serves as immediate past chair of the Community Foundations of Florida (a member group of Florida Philanthropic Network), she is a Florida delegate for the National Vision 20/20 Initiative, and she serves on the Healthy Lee Executive and Steering Committees. The News-Press named Sarah their 2016 Person of the Year. Sarah is married to David Owen, and they have successfully launched their two adult kids out of the house and have become Boilermakers fans while their youngest attends Purdue University.

Willam T. Prather Owner and Executive Producer Broadway Palm
Will Prather is the Executive Producer and Owner of Prather Productions. He currently operates Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers, Florida, the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, along with Prather Touring and Apex Touring, national and international touring companies that bring productions across the country and the world. The entire company entertains half a million guests each year and employs more than 300 people.
Will was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is a 1991 graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, where he was active in Hotel Ezra Cornell, a student-operated hotel. Upon graduation, he spent a year working as a restaurant manager for the Harvey Hotel Company in Dallas, Texas.
Will’s impressive community involvement illustrates his strong commitment to Southwest Florida. He continually strives to increase public awareness about the arts and tourism in the region. He supports local initiatives within the community by hosting Broadway Palm led fundraisers for various organizations, including the Golisano Children’s Hospital,
BUSINESS HALL OF FAME
Harry Chapin Food Bank, Community Cooperative, Animal Refuge Center, the Humane Society of SWFL, United Way, Susan G. Komen, American Cancer Society, and more. In just over the past five years alone, these efforts have easily raised more than $50,000.
Most recently, Will coordinated efforts to give back during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first week of the shutdown, Broadway Palm cooked and gave away 2,000 meals for essential workers and laid off hospitality workers. Will also read about Community Cooperative’s need for food storage space and offered up Broadway Palm’s kitchen and his chef and sous chef to prepare meals for their Meals on Wheels program throughout the five months the theatre was closed.
Outside of the theatre, Will also personally serves the community through various clubs and organizations. He is a past president of the Lee County Alliance for the Arts and is currently an Advisory Board Member. He is also a member of the Fort Myers Rotary Club, a Senior Advisor for The Southwest Florida Community Foundation, and a member of the Advisory Board of Florida Gulf Coast University’s Hospitality/Resort Management Program.
Will is a proud father of his son TJ. When not working or volunteering, he’s spending time on the waters of Southwest Florida kayaking, fishing, and occasionally enjoys a round of golf.
