FLORIDA HEAD COACH
DAN MULLEN
FLORIDA WELCOME The Florida-Georgia weekend ranks among my favorite in all of my years of playing and coaching college football. There is nothing like it – the split crowd, the tailgating and the energy that the coaches and players feel the minute you arrive in Jacksonville until you step on the field. It’s an experience like no other.
GEORGIA HEAD COACH
KIRBY SMART
GEORGIA WELCOME There is no college game more unique than the game that has been played in Jacksonville for so many decades. It is equally anticipated every year by the fans of both teams, coaches, players, and a national television audience on CBS. And as usual, there is always something on the line for both teams. It has a special place in the history of Jacksonville, both teams and college football.
2019 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES These four outstanding individuals will join current Hall of Fame members for their roles in making the Florida-Georgia Game the storied rivalry that it is today.
BRAD CULPEPPER
Culpepper was a standout defensive tackle, he finished his college career with eighteen sacks, set a single season school record for most tackles for loss by an interior defensive lineman with 21.5 and most tackles for loss in a career by an interior lineman with 47.5. In 1991, led by Culpepper and legendary Coach Steve Spurrier, the Gators won their first ever SEC Championship. Culpepper was a team captain, while also being named a first-team All-SEC selection and a consensus first-team All-American. He was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for four consecutive years at Florida, was a first-team Academic All-American, and received the Draddy Trophy, presented annually by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame to the nation’s premier football scholar-athlete.
BRANDON SPIKES
A three year starter at Florida, Spikes was a critical part of two national championships and two SEC championships during his career. Spikes appeared in 47 games for Florida with 39 starts at linebacker. He recorded 307 tackles in his career, with 31.5 for loss, including 6.5 sacks. He forced two fumbles, recovered four fumbles and had six interceptions which he returned for 139 yards and four touchdowns, more than any other player in the nation during that time, which also set a Florida school record. During his career, he was named a finalist for the Butkus, Bronco Nagurski, and Rotary Lombardi Awards. He was a two time consensus first team All-American and a three time first team All-SEC selection.
RENNIE CURRAN
Curran was a standout linebacker during his career at Georgia. As a junior, he led the team in tackles 11 different times, accumulating an SEC-leading 130 tackles, with 5 tackles for loss, half a sack, 3 pass breakups and 10 quarterback pressures. He was named one of Georgia’s permanent team captains for that season and was awarded the Bulldog’s Vince Dooley MVP Award. In total, Curran amassed 298 tackles in his career, including 24 tackles for loss. He collected first team All-American honors, as well as first team All-SEC honors for two consecutive seasons. He was a finalist for the Butkus, Rotary Lombardi and Chuck Bednarik Awards during his career.
JARVIS JONES
Jones began his Georgia career in 2011 where he recorded 70 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and 26 quarterback hurries, while being named a consensus first team AllAmerican and leading the Dawgs to a SEC East title. Heading into the 2012 season, expectations were high for the Dawgs and Jones, he did not disappoint. He followed up his incredible 2011 campaign by posting even better numbers in 2012. Jones had 85 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception. He broke David Pollack’s single season sack record at UGA and was named a consensus first team All-American for a second time while driving the Dawgs to a 12-2 record and another SEC East title.

A JACKSONVILLE TRADITION SINCE 1933
BY THE NUMBERS 1904
For the University of Georgia’s athletic department, the 1904 game held in Macon, Georgia, kicked the series off with a 52 - 0 win. Florida’s University Athletic Association does not count the loss in their tally as the team that they fielded was from an institution then known as the Florida Agricultural College, based in Lake City. This was one year before the Florida Legislature established what we know as the University of Florida and it was then one year later in 1906 that the Gators officially established their football team.

ONE OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S GREATEST RIVALRIES
In the land of palm trees and sunny beaches, the home of Disney World and gator-infested swamps, it’s the Florida-Georgia game. Don’t even think about changing those state names around. When the Gators and Bulldogs meet each year on the banks of the St. Johns River, one of college football’s greatest rivalries sweeps into downtown Jacksonville. If you show up in orange and blue, your chances of sitting on the winner’s side of the stadium increases. The Bulldogs can thank Steve Spurrier for that. It was Spurrier, who from Day 1 on the job, decried Georgia’s 22-victory edge in the historic series. After all, Spurrier noted, the game was played in Jacksonville, Florida in a stadium then called the Gator Bowl. It was time the Florida Gators did their part. Spurrier’s dominant 11-1 record against Georgia from 1990-2001
changed the rivalry’s direction. One that was needed by the UF faithful after a 15-45 series edge in the Bulldogs favor from 1971-89. In the years since, who can forget Errict Rhett in the rain, ‘half a hundred’ in Athens or Tim Tebow? It’s Mullen’s turn now. The Gators have won three games against Georgia under then offensive coordinator Mullen. Florida-Georgia is like no other game in America. The party starts early and ends late. When the day is done, it’s easy to tell which team won if you never bothered going inside the stadium. Just check out which team’s fans are still grilling in the parking lot. Over the years, there have been occasional cries to move the game to the respective campuses (usually by the fan base on the losing end of the game), but the split-stadium setting on the river makes it one of the unique and truly treasured traditions in all of college game.—from the Swamp
A TRADITION LIKE NO OTHER
It’s a date that is circled on every Georgia fan’s calendar a year in advance. Jacksonville has been the second home of the Bulldogs since the Florida-Georgia clash began on an annual basis hosted by the River City in 1933. It is a tradition like no other with a stadium divided in half by fans from both sides. The atmosphere is electric and the tradition unsurpassed. The pilgrimage of Georgia fans to the beaches of St. Simons, Jekyll Island, Amelia, Jacksonville, St. Augustine and
many other seaside communities has become an annual tradition that has continued over decades. For the players and coaches, it’s a business trip. But for each of them, there is no sight that compares to the view coming over the Hart Bridge and looking down on the hundreds of campers, tents, and tailgates and thousands of fans that surround the stadium on game day. It’s an annual celebration on the banks of the St. Johns River for fans of the Red and Black one and all.—from the Doghouse
