WELCOME Dear Friends: Welcome to the 2015 Sea and Sky Spectacular Air Show! The First Coast is honored to host this much-loved annual event that highlights the expertise and outstanding contributions of military and civilian aviators from across this great nation, including the world-renowned Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s premier precision flying squadron. I’m so pleased you have joined the City of Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport, as well as the cities of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, as our skies are transformed into the backdrop for the most dynamic over-the-ocean sky show around. These brave Americans in uniform sacrifice so much to ensure our freedom and safety, and we owe them a great debt of gratitude. As you gather to enjoy today’s show, I encourage you to remember the well-trained, devoted and talented pilots and other military personnel stationed around the world, actively guarding our liberty. Again, welcome, and I ask you to join me in saying a big “thank you!” to the men and women of our armed forces. Let’s fly!

A total of 17 officers voluntarily serve with the Blue Angels. Each year the team typically selects three tactical (fighter or fighter/attack) jet pilots, two support officers and one Marine Corps C-130 pilot to relieve departing members. The Chief of Naval Air Training selects the “Boss,” the Blue Angels Commanding Officer. Boss must have at least 3,000 tactical jet flight-hours and have commanded a tactical jet squadron. choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. The Blue Angels’ C-130, affectionately known as Fat Albert, begins each demonstration by exhibiting its maximum performance capabilities during a 10-minute performance. Following Fat Albert, the team performs a graceful aerobatic maneuver of the four-jet Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit
in the renowned six-jet Delta Formation. The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world. The Blue Angels’ six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet, typically in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year, where they still employ many of the same practices and techniques used in their aerial displays in 1946. Since 1946, the Blue Angels have flown for more than 260 million spectators. Sea & Sky

P-8A Poseidon/ P-3C Orion The P-8A Poseidon is the U.S. Navy’s next generation long-range maritime patrol, antisubmarine warfare, anti-shipping, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft. In 2011 the U.S. Navy awarded a contract for six initial production P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The first operational aircraft was delivered in 2012 to replace the P-3C Orion. The P-8A will surpass the experience and technology
of the P-3’s capabilities and assets to meet the Navy’s needs of developing and fielding a maritime aircraft equipped with significant growth potential, including an extended global reach, greater payload capacity, higher operating altitude, and the open systems architecture. The P-8A derived from the universal commercial Boeing 737-800, but has the wings of the 737-900. It is larger than
the previous P-3C and has a flight endurance of 4 hours. The new aircraft’s turbofan engines were deliberately selected, as they are more powerful, more fuel efficient and have a number of other advantages.

They have been performing in air shows throughout the U.S., Mexico, El Salvador, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Tortola for more than 20 years. Bill’s flying style is a smooth flowing show. Bill flies the Stearman without the distraction of music so the audience can hear and appreciate the beautiful sound of the Pratt and Whitney 985 Radial Engine. The aircraft Bill is flying was the lead aircraft for The Red Baron Pizza Squadron and is owned by Bill’s good friend Jim Jacobs.

Tobul and the Korean War Hero, F4U-4 Corsair, are an exciting tribute to the men and machines that fought to defend democracy and freedom in the
Korean Conflict from 1950 1953. He tells the story of this celebrated aircraft with both dramatic aerial displays and while static on the ground at various airshows. Throughout his career, Tobul has accumulated more 5,000 hours of flight time. He now performs at 18 or more airshows per year, bringing tears to the eyes of veterans and awakening the curiosity of upcoming generations to learn more about the fight for freedom waged by those who came before him. Tobul is a proud participant in the U.S. Navy Legacy Flight program, in which he flies alongside a modern Navy F-18 Super Hornet fighter in a poignant display of military heritage and tribute.

F-16 Demo and Heritage Flight The Air Combat Command F-16 Demonstration Team performs precision aerial maneuvers to demonstrate the unique capabilities by one of the Air Force’s premier multi-role fighters, the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-toair combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations. The F-16 Demo Team also teams up with Air Force Heritage Flight exhibiting the professional qualities the Air Force develops in the people who fly, maintain and support
these aircraft. A Heritage Flight performance involves a current USAF fighter piloted by an Air Combat Command trained military Heritage Flight pilot and flown with a historical warbird piloted by a trained and certified civilian Heritage Flight pilot.
The Heritage Flight formations of modern fighters flying with World War II, Korean, and Vietnam era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre, dramatically display the U.S. Air Force’s air power history and proudly support our Air Force’s recruiting and retention efforts.

F-15 Eagle The F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter that has been the strength behind the Air Force’s air superiority. Its proven design is undefeated in air-to-air combat, with more than 100 aerial combat victories and no losses. Its two engines provide 58,000 pounds of thrust, which enable the F-15 to exceed speeds of Mach 2.5.
The F-15 Eagle has been the U.S. Air Force’s primary fighter jet aircraft and intercept platform for decades. The Eagle’s air superiority is achieved through a mixture of unprecedented maneuverability and acceleration, range, weapons and avionics. The F-15 can penetrate enemy defense and
outperform and outfight any current enemy aircraft.
