I O

I, Doris June Kimble, née Griffin, was born February 2, 1935 in East Saint Louis, Illinois. My parents were John C. & Nettie Mae Griffin. I was baptized at the age of 7 years old and worked in the church throughout my life. I always loved Sunday School. For the majority of my life I was a member of Pilgrim Green Missionary Baptist Church, from its days in Rush City to its current location in Washington Park, IL. During my tenure there, I served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Pastor Richard Cosey. I later joined The Rhema Church in 2002 and served on the Mother’s Board with Pastor Norman E. Owens, Jr. I have always loved my church and, most importantly, I loved the Lord! I was educated in the East St. Louis school system and graduated from Lincoln High School in January 1952 at the age of 16. I immediately moved to Chicago for a short time and then to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I met and married Edward Oscar Kimble on September 23, 1957. Under this union two angels and three beautiful girls were born; Karla Marie, Kristine Marie and Klaudine Marie. Not long after I returned to East St. Louis in 1967, I attended Nursing School at State Community College. I wanted to provide a better life

for my girls and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Malcolm Bliss Mental Health Center and Metropolitan Psychiatric Center. After working as a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, I happily retired in 1999. I was always an active member in my community and served as a member of the Rush City Improvement Association for many years. I loved putting together neighborhood picnics and fundraisers. In my spare time, I loved to travel with my family and friends. Shopping was always a favorite of mine whether in the store or on the television. I loved watching my daily soap operas and was an avid sports fan, especially Cardinals baseball. In later years I enjoyed playing games and browsing social media on my tablet or phone. I have now taken my rest and in heaven with my father (John C.), mother (Nettie Mae), sister (Patricia A. Crawley), my two angels and daughters Karla & Kristine. I leave to carry on my legacy: my daughter, Klaudine Kimble (Belleville, IL); Grandchildren: Darryl Kimble (Belleville, IL), Douglas Smith III (Saint Louis, MO), Danielle Smith (Huntsville, AL), Two nieces; Kimberly Crawley (Madison, IL) & KeNetra Crawley (Belleville, IL), my in-laws, extended and blended families and a host of cousins and friends.
