“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – II TIMOTHY 4:7-8 (KJV)

THE OBITUARY OF
Kenneth Wayne Archie was born on October 21, 1958, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late George and Helen Archie. Kenneth was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system, graduating from North Forsyth High School in 1977. He had a successful high school basketball career as a point guard, and later played for Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1981. He would eventually earn his Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Walden University in 2016. Kenneth was employed as a business relations representative at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, NC-Vocational Rehabilitation Division. In this capacity, he helped many people find and maintain gainful employment. He worked in the mental health field for over 30 years, providing critical resources for those in need. Ever the business-savvy gentleman, he also owned his own company, Optimum Services Group, that provided CPR and first aid certifications. Kenneth was a stellar mentor and pillar within the community. Throughout his life, he exemplified a deep passion for the reformation of the Black community – Black men especially. Kenneth was a firm Believer and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized while attending Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Kenneth was ordained and licensed as a minister in 1988.
He was a faithfull member of Triad Ministries Church of God in Christ in Kernersville, North Carolina, where he served on the ministerial staff, as president of the men’s ministry, and led the married couples’ ministry. Friday, April 14, 2006, marked another notable moment in Kenneth’s life, as he took Jacqueline to be his loving wife. They enjoyed doing life together and mentoring other couples. Kenneth enjoyed officiating youth basketball games and did so for over 20 years. He sincerely enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events – rarely missing a game. In one of his final conversations with his daughters, he jokingly said, “...if I could have skipped you guys and gone straight to my grandkids, I would have.” This statement perfectly captured the deep love he had for his grandchildren. Overall, Kenneth loved his family and didn’t miss an opportunity to express that. A life well-lived always leaves an indelible legacy. Without a doubt, Kenneth’s legacy will include, but certainly isn’t limited to, his kind spirit, unwavering compassion for others, and dedication to serving the Lord. He loved his wife, his children, grandchildren, and family. He served others and gave to those in need. He shared the love of Christ wherever he would go. He will truly be missed, having made such a positive impact on so many. On December 18, 2020, Minister Kenneth Wayne Archie made a peaceful transition from this life to eternity at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Left to celebrate and continue his legacy are: his loving wife, Jacqueline Archie; four daughters, April Nicole Archie, Kristen Archie, Monica Archie and Kenya Garris (Brandon) Coley; grandchildren, Jordan Wilson, Khalil Archie, Kendi Quoi, Naomi Royster, Brailyn Coley, Sirius Coley; one brother, George (Melinda) Archie, Jr.; and an aunt, Connie Lash. He will also be missed by a set of special friends: Dennis (Myra) Scott, Carl Smalls, Chris Martin, Terry and Debra Hale; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
