NATIONAL AUTISTIC SOCIETY BRIEF #AutismUnmasked • Our aim was to humanise Autism in a series of animated documentaries. • We recorded Autistic adults speaking to us about their experiences. • We looked at existing campaigns and documentaries that inspired our project, including ‘Life, Animated’ (Williams, R. 2016) and ‘Innerviews’ (Winner, C. 2016).

RATIONALE AND INTENTIONS


NATIONAL AUTISTIC SOCIETY BRIEF #AutismUnmasked • We produced one film each, but created them to work together as a series. • Each video reflects the interviewee’s tone of voice. • They have their own visual language, but are connected by the colour scheme in the brand guidelines. • All three videos use ambient tracks by Poddington Bear, from the Free Music Archive (creative commons).

VISUAL DEVELOPMENT


NATIONAL AUTISTIC SOCIETY BRIEF #AutismUnmasked • Our campaign is designed for sharing on social media. Young people and adults watch videos online and that this would be a great way to spread awareness. • We created a hashtag #AutismUmasked and propose that the videos would have subtitiles underneath so that the video can be watched on a mobile device with or without sound. • We hope our films will make people empathise with the experiences of adults on the spectrum.
