Love Saves The Day. “All was fun and games until some poor sod fell over and broke his arm leaving it in a 90 degree angle. We felt a bit guilty after that. On the 25th of May 2014 Castle Park in Bristol hosted a weekend of day festivals boasting some of the biggest names in electronic music such as Eats Everything, Nina Kraviz, Annie Mac, Jamie XX, DJ EZ and SBTRKT to name a few.

After a few more ciders and a quick mix on the decks before we saw our idols it was time to catch the number 20 bus down to Cabot Circus where we’d get a quick double cheeseburger from McDonalds to line our stomachs and finally join the hour long queue to get into the park. Once we all got in it We woke up to some lovely grey clouds which had was time for another well earned drink (beer this been lingering throughout the night making the time) and to have a mosey around the park to see slopes of Castle Park feel like a vertical treadmill how it had been transferred into what can only be covered in mud and empty Red Stripe cans, however described as a playground for adults. front of the stage?! We didn’t have a clue, it made a cracking dancefloor for the crowd but we weren’t persuaded that this was the reason behind it, who cares anyway, it was cool. The music at the boxing ring was interesting, it felt like we teleported back into the late 90s early 00s, the DJ was playing some classic RNB and some bass heavy anthems, it was close to the bar and we liked it so we decided to set up camp and stay there for a few hours. After an hour of dancing on the boxing ring everyone was asked to leave and join the crowd, after the lingerers left some bloke hopped on the stage wielding a microphone and a lovely pair of dungarees. He then asked for two volunteers for a dance off, it was all starting to make sense now, after keeping my hands well below my waist so the dungarees man didn’t think I was volunteering he picked two unfortunate people to have a dance off, they were both promised a prize though so all the embarrassment wouldn’t be for nothing. After a few rounds of ‘dancing’ (rolling around on the floor hoping the break-dancing lessons they had at first school were still at the back of their brain) it was time to announce the winner which was decided by the crowd. After the dungarees man decided whose cheer was loudest he announced the winner and presented them with a rubber toy snake. A rubber toy snake!

They got all muddy, made a tit of themselves for a toy snake. Rather them than me. At least they were having a good time(?). We then went for another wander around the park to have a look at the other stages to see what else was on offer, after stopping off at a few other stages to have a dance and a beer we went back to the boxing ring to see one of my all time idols, DJ EZ. What can I say, what a performance. This was my first time seeing him and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. The stage wasn’t the biggest which made things a bit difficult, the boxing ring was packed, you could hardly breathe. The barriers at the front collapsed at one point due to the sheer volume of the crowd, absolute madness, one of the best live acts I’ve seen. What a day, it won’t be forgotten in a while.

Every year participants gather at Coopers Hill in Gloucestershire to take part in the yearly cheese rolling competition. A cheese rolling competition I hear you say?! Let me explain. The tradition has been taking place since the early 1800s, it’s said to be part of pagan origins for the custom of rolling objects down the hill. It is thought that bundles of burning brushwood were rolled down the hill to represent the birth of the New Year after winter. Connected with this belief is the traditional scattering of buns, biscuits and sweets at the top of the hill by the Master of Ceremonies. This is said to be a fertility rite to encourage the fruits of harvest.

7

The first race started with a quick pace, participants were flung down the hill resulting in numurous hitting the deck early, the winner, Josh Sheppard, hot stepped it down the hill giving him an early lead which resulted in an easy win for him! Placed second was Sheldon Ronald who had travelled all the way from Austrailia to take part, cracking result which he later beat and won the 3rd race. Next race, the boys (14 and Under) Uphill Race gets off to a spirited start, huge strides from the early leader, but he’s soon overtaken by Kasper Wickenshaw who gains ground on the pack giving him an easy win. Placed second was infact Kaspers brother. They have won this race numurous times in the past and are a local family who own the local pub, Fostons Ash.

At 12 o’clock sharp the cheese (double Gloucester of course!!) is transported up the hill where the Master of Ceremonies rolls it down the hill and the participants chase the 9lb wheel of cheese down one of the steepest slopes in the area. An estimated crowd of 5,000 people turned up to watch this perculiar ‘sport’ which was undoubtably Throughout the day there are many races down a success. Competitors come from all over the world to take part in this extraordinary event. The most popular nationalities are Austrailian, Japanese, Canadian and of course English, just to name a few. First up was the first of three mens races. The competitors lined up at the top of the hill, the cheese is ceremoniously taken up the hill while the competitors get a chance to finish their last can of lager before it commences. Madeleine McCann investigação. “Both the Portuguese and the English police and detectives have recently been carrying out further searches on an area of scrubland just a short walk from the villa she was taken from.

It’s been 7 years since the dissapearence of Madeleine McCann from the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz. The news of her dissapearence sent shockwaves throughout the world and touched the heart of many people including celebrities like David Beckham. 7 years on and there still is no concrete news, Portuguese police have had very few leads and there has been controversy within the press to whether or not the Portuguese police have been carrying out the necessary tasks to finding the young girl. Both the Portuguese and the English police and detectives have recently been carrying out further searches on an area of scrubland just a short walk from the villa she was taken from. Officers are believed to have been surprised by the difficulty of the terrain, while the police also need to consider the disruption to local residents. On Wednesday morning, the national Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manha, reported that there would be a search of the sewage network around the Ocean Club, where the McCann family was staying when Madeleine disappeared. Officers were expected to use cameras linked to fibre-optic cables, the paper said. It also reported that the bones of cows and pigs had been unearthed by the search on Tuesday. A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said there would be no running commentary on the operation. Two sniffer dogs have been provided by South Wales Police for the search which have been helping with the search of the scrubland. The Met launched a fresh investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance last July, codenamed Operation Grange.

It is understood that police have been using a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) which uses highfrequency radio waves to detect objects that are underground. These radio waves can reach up to 49ft in dry sandy soil. World Cup 2014 São Paulo.

“Adults dressed as trees and raindrops, kids playing with footballs attached to strings and some suspect singing performances.

One of the most prestigious and famous sporting tournaments got underway today in São Paulo, Brazil. An under-capacity crowd gathered to the opening ceremony which gradually reached full capacity before the first game kicked off between Brazil and Croatia. The opening ceremony consisted of stars such as J-Lo, Claudia Leitte and Pitbull, there was also artistic performances consisting of adults dressed as trees and raindrops, kids playing with football attached to strings and some suspect singing performances. The crowd seemed un-impressed by the performances and were even more desperate for the football to start. Some tweets from supporters during the opening ceremony give a good feel of what everyone else was thinking. Phill Hay tweeted - “This must be what singing sounds like in space”. Nick Daniels tweeted - “I have been to school plays more professional than this”. Charlie Brooks tweeted - “Pitbull looks like a bank manager on holiday in Benidorm’.

Croatia had the ball in the net before the end of the game, but Ivica Olic was adjudged to have fouled Julio Cesar in the build-up, and Oscar made sure of the victory late on. The opening goal of the 2014 World Cup was remarkable in itself, the first own-goal scored by a Brazilian in the history of the tournament. Ivica Olic received the ball on the Croatia left and ran unopposed into the Brazilian half. His low cross fizzed across goal and was turned in by Marcelo, who failed to readjust his feet in time. Ivan Perisic was ready to pounce if the Real Madrid man had not made the final touch. The crowd were stunned, but they rallied behind their side, who were level before the half-hour mark. Oscar worked hard to regain possession for Brazil

After more Seleção pressure in the second-half, the hosts went ahead. The ball was played into the box towards Fred, who tried to swivel to hit it towards goal. He was impeded by Lovren and the referee pointed to the spot. Neymar stepped up, delayed his run-up, and hit hard to Pletikosa’s right-hand side. Croatia’s No1 got a hand to it, but could not stop it putting Brazil ahead. Despite a valiant effort by Croatia, including their disallowed goal, Brazil wrapped up the three points when Oscar fired home from the edge of the box.

Luis Suárez bite. “This time he could be facing a lengthy ban...despite his attempts to play down the incident.

Luis Suarez may have bitten off more than he can chew this time. Already banned twice in his career for biting an opponent, the Uruguay striker was seemingly at it again in his country’s key World Cup victory over Italy. Just before Uruguay’s winning goal, the striker was embroiled in an off the ball incident with Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini with both men falling to the floor. This time he could be facing a lengthy ban...despite his attempts to play down the incident.

Chiellini tells reporters - “Suarez is a sneak and he gets away with it because FIFA want their stars to play in the World Cup, I’d love to see if they have the courage to use video evidence against him. The referee saw the bite mark too, but he did nothing about it.” added the Juventus defender.

“FIFA must investigate the incident seriously and take whatever disciplinary action deemed necessary.”

FIFA has opened proceedings against the forward, for breach of FIFA disciplinary code. FIFA added that Suarez and/or his national association are invited to provide their position and any documentary evidence they deem relevant, with a 5pm (Brasilia time) deadline.

Former Italian international Mauro Tassotti was given an eight-match ban in 1994, the longest suspension in World Cup history, after breaking the nose of Spain’s Luis Enrique.

The 27-year-old Suarez will now face a nervous wait to find out if football’s world governing body FIFA Suarez told reporters - “The only thing I know is that will take action retrospectively given it was missed those are occurrences that happen on the pitch, I by the match officials and punish him. just collided with his shoulder. Suarez is a fantastic footballer but, once again, his actions have left him open to severe criticism.

According to FIFA’s disciplinary code, the forward could face a maximum ban of 24 matches or two years.

The fiestas of San Fermin are celebrated in Irunea/ Pamplona, in the region of Navarra, every year from 7th to 14th July. Robin Williams death.

“Williams, who’s been open about his problems with cocaine and alcohol over the years, previously spent time on a Hazelden campus in Oregon back in 2006. The 11th of August marked the death of someone who has played a part in all of our lives, Robin Williams. He has been in such films as Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society and the film he won an Oscar for, Good Will Hunting. It is reported that Williams had recently returned from a spell at a rehabilitation facility at the Hazelden facility Minnesota which was said to be fine-tuning and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud of. Williams, who’s been open about his problems with cocaine and alcohol over the years, previously spent time on a Hazelden campus in Oregon back in 2006. He later explained that drinking had gradually become a problem again after 20 years of sobriety. Police were called to his house in Tiburon, north of San Francisco to the report of Williams being unconscious. They later released a statement saying “At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made”.

Many fans and celebrities were shocked and heartbroken by the news and took to Twitter to pay their tributes. Celebrities inlcuded Ben Affleck, Whoopi Goldberg and Matt Damon who tweeted “Heartbroken. Thanks chief - for your friendship and for what you gave the world. Robin had a ton of love in him.
