Dear J Family, I hope this finds you in good health and high spirits. As we approach the cold days of winter, I am thrilled to share with you the fantastic lineup of programming that awaits you at the J. This year, we have combined programming from all areas of the J and put it into one program guide! So whether you are a sports enthusiast, fitness fanatic, or someone looking for enriching cultural arts or Jewish programming – you can find everything we have to offer all in one place. In fact, I encourage you to peruse the entire program guide. You never know what might be happening at the J that might be of interest to you and your family. Some upcoming offerings of note include the popular St. Louis Jewish Film Festival, group exercise classes, swim lessons, a Family Passover Seder, Nishmah’s Ilene Joseph Salon Series, and we are pleased to announce the addition of our brand-new golf simulator that will help maintain your swing even when you can’t get outside to play. Everyone is welcome at the J and we truly have created a lineup of programming that ensures there is something for everyone! None of the amazing programming we have to offer is possible without our wonderful members, generous donors, and amazing staff! We are proud that so many of you call the J home and we look forward to continuing to provide a safe and welcoming place for our community to come together! Wishing you a wonderful winter and spectacular spring!

Rachel Beanland, The House Is On Fire All Ages

Sari Kopitnikoff, Only Kidding All Ages Tucked somewhere between your kishkes (intestines) is an important part of your body that doesn’t always get the attention it needs: your funny bone. It’s time you strengthened it! Only Kidding is a one-of-a-kind Jewish joke book for kids and families to laugh about all things Jewish: Jewish holidays, Jewish food, Hebrew letters, Jewish celebrations, and even some holy things (no, not socks). A helpful glossary is included with the 50+ original jokes, so everyone can understand and appreciate the humor! In partnership with the J’s Early Childhood Centers, Family Center, Saul Mirowitz Jewish Day School, and Epstein Hebrew Academy.

The House Is On Fire tells the story of the 1811 Richmond Theater Fire from the perspective of four integrous characters—two Black and enslaved, two white and imminently more protected—none of whom experience the world from a place of institutional authority. Set on the night after Christmas, the place was packed as Placide & Green Company, a touring ensemble with more than 30 members, put on a play when a fire broke out backstage thanks to an oversight and some malfunctioning equipment. With more than 600 people in attendance, chaos ensued. Families and friends lost track of those they were with, and many people died. Some members of the Placide & Green Company decided to hide their role in the accident and instead spread lies about rebelling slaves with torches being responsible. A hunt for those responsible and, thankfully, for the truth, followed. This Martin Luther King Jr. Day program is in partnership with the Newmark Institute for Human Relations at the Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis. All My Sons By Arthur Miller

Jewish Film Festival Preview Event

All Ages

All Ages

This Tony and New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award winning play is touted as one of Arthur Miller’s best. Set following World War II, All My Sons is the story of two families destroyed by deception and love. Partners and neighbors Joe Keller and Steve Deever ran a factory making aircraft engines for the war. But when it’s discovered that someone knowingly shipped cracked engines that resulted in the death of 21 American pilots, who is ultimately to blame? And Joe and his wife Kate are still grieving the disappearance of their Air Force pilot son, Larry. He’s assumed dead, but Kate holds out hope for his return. Will the truth come out as to who is ultimately accountable for the faulty engines? Will the Deever and Keller families survive their own secrets? Will Larry make his longed-for return? The answers transform this secretive past into matters of life and death. SFC Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Flexibility is a critical component of physical performance and is equally important for your overall health. Simply “stretching” may not be enough or as effective as the techniques trainers can offer. In a series of 15-minute sessions, our trainers can employ a variety of partner-assisted stretching and foam rolling techniques to maximize your results. Benefits may include: reduced arthritic symptoms, improved physical performance, improved posture and range of motion, decreased deterioration of joints, reduced risk of pain (low back, joints, muscles), improved muscle coordination, and overall movement.

55 min: $44-$54/person per session

Assisted stretching is purchased in bundles of four sessions.
