Volunteer Opportunities The J is always looking for volunteers ages 16 and over to help enhance our services and programs. Volunteers are needed for one-time special events, ongoing classroom assistance, assembling mailings and more. Opportunities are available at both J locations. Volunteer positions are designed to assist J staff by matching the skills and schedules of the volunteer. Individuals with Special Needs The J welcomes and invites all persons, including those with special needs, to participate in its camps and other programs. Participation is based upon an Marilyn Fox Building appropriate match between the individual and a particular program. Newborn-18 mos w/adult Celebrate the miracle of your baby each week through gentle music, play, dance, movement, sounds, instruments and touch. You’ll learn how to help unfold your baby’s natural gifts with every song, whisper and peek-a-boo. Home materials include CDs, hardcover literature books, specially designed -instruments and banners. Session 1: Cock-a-doodle-Moo! Hop on the hayride—it’s time to head for the farm! In this class, you will sing songs about the farm, including “Old MacDonald,” “Hayride,” and “Clever Cows.” You’ll engage in rituals and playful activities with your baby, including infant massage, lap bounces, exercise, and quiet time. Session 2: DewDrops Stop and smell the roses—and lily of the valley, and tulips, and pansies. Kindermusik Our Time 18 mos-3 yrs Theme: Away We Go! Hop on the train, get in the car, board the plane, and Away We Go! This class focuses on transportation, a favorite topic for toddlers who are on the go, go, go! Sing and play along with favorite songs, such as “I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad” and “Wheels on the Bus”. Explore fast and slow, smooth and bumpy, and high and low. Read stories about ways to get around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has a horse, speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go. Encourage your toddler to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control, and communications skills. Some legends say that the women did the work of rededicating the Temple with unusual zeal. As we celebrate our traditional Jewish heroine, Judith, this night commemorates her triumph for the Jewish people. The Rumpus in the Rainforest is a perfect introduction to musical theatre and teaches the importance of the rainforest through fun songs, dances and zany characters. Frog in the rainforest desperately wants to get off the jungle floor and see the sky – but who will help him climb above the canopy? The Jaguar loves the jungle floor, the Sloth family keeps falling asleep, and the Howler Monkeys have gone nuts. The Boas offer to slither up a tree, but can you really ever trust a boa? Meanwhile, two bungling explorers stumble by in search of the Lost Ancient City of Chocolate. 3rd-5th grade The Story of Velveteen Rabbit Book by Anita Larsen Music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur Loved for generations, the tale of the Velveteen Rabbit comes to life on the stage with whimsical musical numbers that will bring out the child in everyone. For his birthday, Andrew receives a stuffed animal. The Velveteen Rabbit joins a closet full of other toy sprits who teach valuable lessons. Andrew and Rabbit are inseparable until the boy comes down with scarlet fever, and the doctor proclaims Rabbit must be destroyed. Luckily, Rabbit escapes to the forest where he’ll live as a real animal among wild rabbits and the beautiful Magic Fairy.

We focus on form and safety at the orientation lesson, giving basics for a safe activity and a general feel for archery. We work on getting the best use of our muscles and balance, combined with clear mental preparation, teaching a series of components/steps which build on one another. All classes are “multi-level” unless otherwise noted. Power Yoga: This vigorous, fitness based approach to Vinyasaa-style flow yoga, enhances strength, flexibility, and stamina. Punch & Crunch: A higher intensity, circuit emphasized class that will challenge you with boxing, core work and high velocity endurance. R.I.P.P.E.D: Stands for resistance, intervals, power, plyometrics, endurance and diet. It’s the most comprehensive workout around. Sculpting: Class rotates monthly between strength, power and endurance formats, providing the changes you need to avoid the plateaus and maximize results. Spin: An aerobic class that takes place on a stationary bike. Experience taking a ride while an instructor talks you through a visualized cycling workout with music! Adult Sports 10th Annual Indoor Triathlon
12 yrs and older Shake off the winter rust and get ready for spring races with the indoor tri! Over the last decade, the J’s event has grown to be the largest indoor triathlon in Missouri and beyond! Covering two full days, athletes compete either in the Sprint (400y swim / 8m bike / 2.5m run) or the Long (750y swim / 18m bike / 5m run) versions of the tri. A new twist has been added this year as well – a points-based competition with set times. Triathletes will earn points for the distances they complete based on a 10-minute swim, 30-minutes of biking and a 20-minute run. All athletes will receive a commemorative shirt. The J Associates is a support auxiliary of the J. Their mission includes raising funds which are then allocated annually for various J departments which are used for scholarships and programming, regardless of age, race or religion. Touching all ages, from infants to the elderly, the J Associates have contributed to numerous programs such as Home Delivered Meals and Theatre Unlimited for adults with special needs; scholarships allowing children to attend camps and the early childhood program. Online Registration Procedure How to Register for a Program Online • Go to jccstl.org and select My J Account in the upper right corner OR Click Register Online from any program page on the website • **You will be asked to login. If you have a password and ID, enter it in the User Log In area now. Or… • If you are a J member and new to the Online Services (with no username or password), please contact our Membership Services staff at 314-442-3173. Members must have an email address on file in order to access the Online Services. • If you have utilized the Online Service area before (J member or non-member program participant) and have forgotten your username and/or password, click on Forgot Username/Password? to receive new ones through email. • If you are not a J member and have never participated in a program, click Create New Non-Member Account? • Click the Sign up as Non-Member Participant button • Click “Select” on the Membership Type (there’s only one option) • Complete the form on the subsequent page and either choose to add a sub-member (spouse or child) or click the Next button • You will be asked to enter payment information, which can be kept on file, you may choose to do so or not • You will then be asked to choose a password and ID for the Online Services. • Click Sign Up for a Program from the blue box on the left side • Click the department name your program falls under. Options include: • Adult Programs, Aquatics, Child-Youth, Cultural Arts, Family Activities, etc. • Find the program you wish to register for and click View Programs • Click Add to Cart for the session you desire and confirm who you with to register for the program (yourself, your child, etc.) • Click Continue to Cart • Complete payment information • Click Submit – make sure to click only ONCE • Congratulations! You have registered for a J program online!
Reserve a Racquetball Court, Schedule a Massage or a Fitness Orientation online! Part 3 Racquetball & Squash Court Reservation • Choose a specific service from the “Choose Service” box • In the Choose Resource box, select your court number (for racquetball or squash) • In the Choose Duration box select either one hour or 45 minutes • Click the Submit button on the lower left • Congratulations! You have booked your court from the comfort of your own computer! ____________________________________________________________ Massage Services Reservation • Choose a specific service from the Choose Service box • In the Choose Resource box, select your court number (for racquetball or squash) • The Choose Provider provider box will then appear, displaying the available therapists for the time you selected; choose a therapist by clicking on their name • Then choose a massage room in the Choose Resource box (this is a formality, choose any room) • Then in the Choose Duration box, select the length of time for your massage • Click the Submit button on the lower left • Congratulations! You have booked your massage! ____________________________________________________________ BeWell Fitness Consultation/Assessment Reservation • Choose a specific service from the Choose Service box; (BeWell Consultation – FOX or BeWell Consultation – SFC) • In the Choose Provider box, select an certified trainer (they’re all good!) • In the Choose Resource box, select a room. Note: your trainer will make sure a room is available upon your arrival • In the Choose Duration box, 30 minutes is already selected • Click the Submit button on the lower left • Congratulations! You have scheduled your free BeWell Consultation with a J personal trainer!!
