Message from National President Senator Johnny Kwan Each Fall, JC members are ready to hold their Annual General Meetings; the Board of Directors are ready to report their hard work to the general assembly; and officers for the coming year will be born. "Passion for Brilliance” is the theme of the JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes in 2014. It defines passion as something that challenges you, intrigue you and motivate you. The Care and Dare 2014 project continues to impact number of minority in Hong Kong and to draw social awareness of the rehabilitation and needs of ex-offenders. On behalf of the JCI Hong Kong, I would like to thank you JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes for being supportive all year round. Thanks to National Vice President Winnie Yeung and National Administration Director Wendy So for joining the 2014 National Board. In addition, thanks for hosting the Nothing-But-Coffee campaign promoting JCI Nothing-But-Nets which is a global grassroots campaign to raise awareness and funding to fight malaria, a leading cause of death among children in Africa. The Jayceettes is one of the big supporters on the Active Citizen Framework and echoing to the UNMDGs. At last, JCI is a platform that empowers young people to create positive change and continue to develop sustainable impact. Please allow me to congratulate you once again on your hard work and contribution to the society. Message from National Assigned Executive Officer Senator Zenith Lin It is indeed my honor to be the National Assigned Executive Officer of JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes, especially I come from a male chapter, which this is a truly a very special experience to me. I would like to give my sincerely thanks to all treat me one of the “Sister” and this really warm to me. It is never been easy to run a local chapter, but with the outstanding performance of President Carol and all dedicated board of directors, they have a fruitful year. Aligned with JCI direction, we encourage Local Organization to focus on project impact instead of project number. This is exactly what JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes doing this year, we have Nothing but coffee which collaborate with famous coffee shop’s brand Pacific Coffee which sold over 1500 coffees to fund raised over HKD100K for the UNMDG Nothing But Nets. And the Care and Dare a Bright New Horizon we successfully let the public knowing more about the rehabilitation persons who usually left out by the society. Report from President Carol Yeung 1

FOREWARD

“Passion for Brilliance” is the theme of JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes in 2014. We define passion as anything that challenges you, intrigues you and motivates you. It is more than enthusiasm, but true passion drives ambition to put things into brilliant actions. In this 45th Year of JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes, we make strong commitments in membership growth, external affairs and community development. The year will be well remembered with our Anniversary celebration in October. With this big birthday, the chapter will be doing more external relations to increase the brand awareness of the chapter in the Hong Kong community and among the female associations. Firstly, we listened to the voices of our members and developed projects that enhance members’ value and development needs. We created unique monthly fellowship gathering to mentorship (big sister) scheme to leadership trainings to casual gatherings in order to put our members’ value on top priority. From the Membership Affairs area, we launched a successful “Jayceettes 45”campaign, a new initiative to make membership recruitment as a common goal with incentive for all members when we reach the target. We eagerly encourage our members’ participation and involvement in chapter projects, and aimed to increase members’ involvement in day-to-day JCI activities, and in particular, to maintain strong attendance to JCI Conferences (ASPAC and World Congress). We continue to echo the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG), which and it will be the 5th year for the chapter to run a UNMDG program. Using the JCI Active Citizen Framework, we structure a unique and bold project that will service locally and to create a positive impact in lives of a neglected group of people in Hong Kong. We shall continue the UNMDG program under the “Care & Dare” brand, the project named ‘A Bright New Horizon’. We believe everyone has the right to fair work opportunities, and for rehabilitated young offenders, this neglected class of people should have the right to second chances in life to contribute in our society. Last but not least, our chapter continues to have a global focus and have bid the hosting right for the JCI Hong Kong’s ‘Nothing-But-Coffee’ to raise funds for the JCI Nothing But Nets, a is a global, grassroots campaign of the United Nations Foundation to raise awareness and funding to fight malaria, a leading cause of death among children in Africa.

5.4.2 Membership Affairs - “Jayceettes 45” Campaign a. Apart from increasing the external exposure of the Chapter, we had a very important campaign called “Jayceettes 45”. Over the last few years, we have observed the needs and the involvement of members are changing rapidly. To strengthen our foundation and create a special 45th year, the campaign was an important initiative which was aimed to enhance members’ values through projects, mentorship, trainings and activity involvement.

f.

This campaign was an important initiative lead by Membership Affairs area, which started with “Jayceettes 45 – MemberSHIP”, a new initiative to make membership recruitment as a common goal with incentive for all members when we reach the target. The Membership Affairs team targeted 50% growth for the year. We are happy to report three very successful, full house Prospective Members Orientations (PMO) in February, April and August, which reached out close to 100 people. We had 8 inductions by June Fellowship Gathering, and around 13 prospective members (after August PMO) in progress. Each prospective members and new members (under one year of membership) were matched with a ‘big sister’ mentor - an experienced Jayceettes member (Past Presidents, Senators, Senior Members). They developed good bonding and support, which brought good results to facilitate their learning and integration into the JC journey. And Leadership Affairs helped to organize a JCI Achieve training course in March for many of the new recruits to quickly further strengthen their JCI values. From this campaign, we were also pleased with the results that increased members’ involvement in projects and activities. We had some good record numbers for monthly fellowship gatherings (MFGs) this year, averaging around 50-60 members and friends. Special incentive was given to prospective members for participation in their first MFGs, and chapter also subsidy to first-timer/new members to participate in official sister chapter visitation or JCI conferences. The “Jayceettes 45” gave good motivation to the new members to increase participation in various activities. We had one prospective member and one new member that joined this year’s ASPAC, as well as an official visitation to JCI Yokohama under the External Affairs (International Affairs) area. We were also glad to have prospective member to take part in both JCI Public Speaking Hong Kong Selection Competition and also was part of JCI World Debating Championship at 2014 ASPAC Yamagata.

5.4.3 Training and Development a. “Mail Chimp Training” was organized by External Affairs – Publication Area in March 2014. b. CONCLUSIONS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

2014 has been a fabulous year for me and it is beyond words can describe. The role as President is the leader of the Chapter, but relying on the President’s ability alone is not enough to get the Chapter to a success. Members’ dedicated contributions, unfailing support and happiness are the keys to the Chapter’s success and its ultimate long term growth. Together with my passionate and brilliant Board of Directors, I am very lucky to have such a great team walking beside me working very hard towards our common goals. I am very proud to say that all our projects have been successful and enjoyable, and have been well received by the public.

I am very proud to be a Jayceette, and very proud to announce that all Jayceettes members together have taken the Chapter to a new height with their passion for brilliance. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to National President Senator Johnny Kwan for his generous support to the Chapter. Special thanks are extended to National Assigned Executive Officer National Vice President Zenith Lin and all National Officers for their support and assistance throughout the year. I would like to convey my appreciation to Hon Patron Ms. Elsie Oi-sie Leung, GBM, JP, Honorary Legal Advisor Mr. Moses Cheng, GBS, OBE, JP and Honorary Auditor Fan, Chan & Co. for their unfailing guidance and support. My gratitude also goes to our Chapter Patron Vision 2008 Limited, all sponsors and donors who have provided financial support. With their generous donation, the Chapter’s financial burden has been lessened. I would also like to express my heartiest thanks to Honorary Life President Senator Jennifer Yu; Presidential Advisor Past President Senator Alice Liu; Chapter Affairs Advisor Connia Chu Lo, Immediate Past President Pauline Lau, all Past Presidents, Area and Project Advisors. They have given me great support and encouragement throughout my presidential year. Without their valuable advice, it would not be as smooth as it has been. My utmost thanks also goes to my dedicated Board of Directors and Officers, all project chairmen and organizing committee members for their commitment, creativity and their hearts to strive for excellence in bringing the Chapter to new heights. We have all been working as ONE passionate Team and your contributions have definitely moved the Chapter to brilliance and new heights. Last but not the least; I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all Jayceettes for their wonderful support, not just in 2014 but throughout the past years. The close bonds between members have built a very strong foundation in which the Chapter and the future Board of Directors can grow further upon. My sincere wishes go to the incoming National President, National Officers, Chapter Presidents and their Board of Directors. All the best and let’s work together for a fruitful and fabulous year in 2015.

1.2 Prospective Member Orientation & Project Catalogue As of August 2014, three Prospective Member Orientations (PMO) were organized in February, April and August respectively. A total of over 120 participants throughout of which more than 50% are new friends. More than 50% signed up as PMs and 30% of them inducted in less than 4 months upon signing. In exploring a wider source of female elites, we have co-operated with Aigangpiao in preparing PMO 2. It successfully attracted mainland ladies graduated and/or working in Hong Kong and a few of them signed up as PM. However, in considering the actual rate to further their prospective membership and, in the long-run, the stability of these members, we would regard it as a good organisation to co-operate rather than source of new members. Furthermore, we have introduced the use of Project Catalogue which allows new friends to know more about us by briefly outlining upcoming projects and events; and in turn also enables us to understand their areas of interest and priorities so to better provide them with opportunities to explore. The use of this Catalogue is highly recommended for Membership Affairs Team next year. PMO 1: Change to Impact Date Speaker

1.3 Big-Sister Campaign To further enhance new members' experience and support Membership Campaign strategically, the Big-Sister Programme is reintroduced. Supportive Past Presidents and senior members are invited to take care of newbies upon confirmation of Prospective Member status. Newbies are encouraged to look for assistance and guidance from Big Sisters whenever in need. Big Sisters are whom they can count on, share with and treat as companion throughout their Jayceettes journey. 1.4 Revamped Chapter Pamphlet As an important collateral to extend membership and improve chapter image, chapter pamphlet is revamped with new designs and updated information. This is to create an aligned corporate identity for JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes and to further strengthen our image being an organisation comprises sophisticated and professional ladies. 1.5 E-Membership Directory To echo with the "Go Green" Campaign with our chapter publication Snapshots, Membership Directory this year took on the e-version by sending online versions to members to maintain this membership collateral in a "green" way. This can undoubtedly minimises the use of paper, avoiding excess print-outs and that timely updates can always be made, thus saving our nature being environmentally responsible. 1.6 Monthly Fellowship Gathering This year we endeavour to promote the importance of proper formats of Monthly Fellowship Gatherings by starting off with board reporting yet continue with our innovation by attempting different themes to attract members and outsiders to participate in our events, hoping to boost membership extension at the same time. Below are monthly fellowship gatherings I supervised. 2014 Inauguration Ceremony cum January Fellowship Gathering As the first event kicking off the year, the event was held on 18 January 2014 at Football Club, Causeway Bay. It was well-attended by close to 100 participants including friends and supporters from within and outside JCI. The inauguration of our 2014 Board of Directors was successful conducted. Thanks to Advisor Past President Senator Anny Kwan, Big Sister Alfreda Yu and the amazing Organising Committee with Chairman Kannie Au, committee members Carmen Mak, Constance Wong, Linda Choi and Sunny Chan. February Fellowship Gathering February Fellowship Gathering took on chapter slogan of the year "Passion for Brilliance" by inviting a very inspiring guest speaker Dr Joyce Samoutou, Founder of charity New Sight, who has been serving the blind and visually impaired in Congo, Africa. The event was themed "Passion in Action - Healing Hands in the Congo Jungle". Well-attended by over 40 participants, the night was filled with joy and inspiration. Thanks again the Advisor Past President Anny, Supervising Officer Linda Choi, Organising Committee Chairman Pinky Chiu and her teammates Carmen Mak and Vicky Kwan.

32

Long-year Service Appreciation cum June Fellowship Gathering To express our gratitude to members for their continued support and contribution to the chapter, June Fellowship Gathering is the occasion to recognise our long-served and experienced members extending our heartfelt thanks to their years of efforts. Setting the theme as "Shining Stars", we were trying to implicate that our experienced members not only have contributed to the chapter but also to guide and nurture junior members, like stars shining upon stars. The event was filled with joy and laughter receiving very positive comments from participants. Thank you Organising Committee Chairman Sana Lam and her teammates Cally Wong, Dora Leung, Linda Choi, Vicki Chan and Yvaine Hak for their great efforts. Credit also goes to Advisor Past President Senator Anita Kwan for her guidance and support throughout.

B) CONCLUSION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT The target to achieve 50% growth of membership was almost achieved as at the date of writing this report. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Area Advisor Past President Senator Anny Kwan for her tremendous support and guidance to my team and myself during my year of office. She provided me with good advice and assistance regarding area planning and management. As well, without the great assistance from my officers Linda Choi and Vicky Kwan, the development of Membership Affairs area this year would not have been as successful. Last but not the least, I would like to thank President Carol for her trust and support throughout the year. President Carol has given me much flexibility to explore and manage my responsible area. Thanks also to my fellow board mates especially Vice Presidents Dodo, Naomi and Rosanna for always being with me in times of difficulties and hardships. Our friendship has grown deeper with our journey and I look forward to experiencing more in the years to come. Thanks to all members for giving me an unforgettable year and I am more than ready to serve in 2015!

Report from Vice President Membership Affairs Do Do So It is my honor to serve our chapter in the capacity of Vice President of Community Development in 2014. I am pleased to present my report to the General Assembly as follow: As the Vice President for Community Development, I strongly believe in the use of JCI Active Citizen Framework (ACF) as our blueprint for project planning. Under the JCI ACF, we, JCI Members, analyze community needs, plan actions, and most importantly, formulate sustainable solution are our duties. Building on the success of our chapter’s UNMDG Project in the past four years, we continue to launch this programs and activities in accordance with the UNMDG goals in the Community Development area. I was glad to be the supervising officer of the CD area this year.

A) AREAS OF SUPERVISION 1.1 Community Development Project Towards the 45th Anniversary of the Chapter, we are pleased to organise the UNMDG Project in the fifth consecutive years. The project was named “Care & Dare - A Bright New Horizon” (踏出一步 邁向新生里程) and a series of events were launched from April to August. Enhance knowledge of rehabilitation services in Hong Kong During the planning stage in last November, we started to draft a proposal for a prelim meeting with Hong Kong Correctional Services Department (CSD). We then conducted a site visit at Lo Wu Correctional Institution in February and subsequently 2 more meetings with CSD to make a green light of the project. Since this is our first time to work with CSD in recent years that gave our members a great chance to understand the operation of their work on rehabilitation. I was very happy that Community Development director Annie Cheung agreed to be the Project Chairman even thought she was expecting a newborn in early May. OC team had invited very strong and experienced advisory members I was very glad to invite Past President Senator Phyllis Chan to be my Area Adviser. Adviser gave me a lot of suggestions and advice on how to improve the programme. Through the network of adviser, I was glad to have Ms Nancy Loo as my External Project adviser. Nancy was awarded TOYP in 1978 and a member of the Rehabilitation Committee on Community Support for Rehabilitated Offenders.

34

Well developed OC team We had 9 Jayceettes members involved in the Care & Dare project. During the first stage, we have also invited 1 senior member as Big Sister to take care of 3 prospective members who joined as OC. We hope to provide training opportunities for the PMs to learn from more experienced members. The Project was endorsed by UNESCO in Hong Kong as a Social Peace Project It was our pleasure to work with the Hong Kong Association of UNESCO which is a renounced international organization. The objective of the project was align with one of the 5 aspects of Peace. Under the 5 aspects of Peace, Social Peace represents Peace in society and community. We must first be responsible to do our part for a harmonious society, that being, act as a person with integrity and righteousness, and with the well-being of others in our mind. A kick-off ceremony of our Care & Dare project was held on 12 April, 2014 at the Hong Kong Science Park where the UNESCO Hong Kong project took place at the same time. Members were very participative Around 100 JC members participated in the programme. Members were enlightened by the concept of social innovation through the collaboration with the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, the HK Polytechnic University. The workshops in Lo Wu Correctional Institution provided unique opportunities to our members to have personal contact with the inmates that enhance mutual understanding. 1.2 Care & Dare Project aims and objectives Being an Active Citizen in Hong Kong, we aim to build community spirit and to promote peace in our society. We foster mutual care and concern our local community. The campaign echoes to three of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDGs): Goal 1 Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger Goal 3 Promote gender equality and empower women Goal 8 Develop a global partnership for development A series of love actions were taken from April to August. • Love Action 1: Kick-off ceremony cum Educational Seminar (Supported by UNESCO in HK) • Love Action 2: Social Innovation Seminar and Community Services in Lo Wu Correctional Institution (Co-organised and sponsored by Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, the HK Polytechnic University) • Love Action 3: T-Shirt Design Exhibition cum Closing Ceremony (Co-orgnaised by The Cosmetics & Perfumery Association in Hong Kong and Asia Hair Masters Association) Established linkage and long lasting business relations with our partners through different stages of the project The success factor was to create great impact to the community. Through sustainable partnership with government, other NGOs and corporate, we have promoted the key message of supporting rehabilitation in different aspects. We worked with different partners at different stage.

35

We have solicited venue and financial support by UNESCO in HK, Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, the HK Polytechnic University and The Cosmetics & Perfumery Association in Hong Kong and Asia Hair Masters Association, as well as media partner for the project despite the shortfall of cash donor. Please watch out our post-events in September on NowTV and October at PolyU Social Innovation Festival (www.10dayfest.hk) where the T-Shirts for Action 3 & the original artworks by inmates will be display throughout the event.

B) CONCLUSION & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to take this opportunity to send my sincere gratitude to President Carol Yeung for her great support, advice and trust to me. I would also like to acknowledge National Assigned Executive Officer Senator Zenith Lin, Immediate Past President Pauline Lau, my fellow Board mates for their high participation and every piece of advice. A) AREAS OF SUPERVISION I. International Affairs International Affairs has always been an area that draws passion and inspiration from other chapters overseas. This year, the main goal is to enable members to experience internationalism in a more engaging and in-depth manner, aspiring to create ‘‘ExtrA Mile, ExtrA Smile’’. 1.1 2014 JCI Asia Pacific Conference (ASPAC), Yamagata from 4 to 7 June 2014 Prior to the conference, IA team had organized the March fellowship gathering ‘‘Back in time, Jayceettes in Edo’’, where members were updated of the latest news of ASPAC and Japanese business etiquette in ocnferences. 90 delegates from Hong Kong attended the conference and we were delighted to have 6 delegates including President Carol Yeung, Vice President Naomi Chan, International Affairs Officer Carmen Mak, APDC Vivien Wan, Tracy Lau and prospective member Flora Zhang to meet up with all our sister chapters JCI Manila, JCI Kaohsiung, JCI Yokohama, as well as our friendship pact chapter JCI Toyota during the conference. Jayceettes supported with members’ involvement in Hong Kong Night. All the more, prospective member Flora Zhang made it to the finals at the JCI World Debating Championship. 1.2 Visit to Sister Chapter JCI Yokohama from 1 to 3 June 2014 To celebrate the long-standing friendship with our sister chapter, a courtesy visit was made to JCI Yokohama, our sister chapter for 39 years. President Carol Yeung, Vice President Naomi Chan, International Affairs Officer Carmen Mak, Tracy Lau and prospective member Flora Zhang were warmly received by President Koichi Saitoh, his board and members. 1.3 Reception of JCI E-Metro’s 2-day Visit in Hong Kong and Board Dialogue Exchange from 28 to 29 June 2014 As planned, JCI Entrepreneur Metropolitan (JCI E-Metro) from Penang, Malaysia, which we have signed friendship pact since 2005, had paid a 2-day visit to us from 28 to 29 June.

37

Thanks to our reception team supervised by International Affairs Director Aubree Wai, chaired by International Affairs Officer Carmen Mak and supported by our adorable members Vicky Kwan and Ella Ho. President Choo Chee Wai, Past President Yvon Choo, Past President Pennie Choo, Secretary General Sze Chyi, Honorary Treasurer Florence Choy and other delegates went on a cultural tour of Cheung Chau and had a taste of the local cuisines at Dai Pai Dong with 20 Jayceettes. The reception made yet another milestone through a board dialogue exchange between both chapters at JCI Office in Hong Kong. The meeting was well attended by President Carol, Presidential Advisor Past President Senator Alice Liu, International Affairs Advisor Past President Winnie Tsang, Immediate Past President Pauline Lau, Vice President Naomi Chan, Vice President Patrizia Yeung, Vice President Rosanna Wong and Vice President Dodo So. Membership incentives, project problem solving skills and future collaboration were discussed. Action plans will be afoot as follow-up on both sides. 1.4 JCI World Congress in Leipzig from 24 to 29 November Going forward, IA team will prepare a bubble soccer to promote the congress in October 2014. I hereby express my deep appreciation of my area advisor Past President Winnie Tsang, Director Aubree Wai and Officer Carmen Mak for insightful exchange of ideas and excellent team work. Our vision of delivering value to our members have been consistently clear, and I cherish all the synergy, and as advisor once mentioned, the ‘heartwork’. Thank you very much! 2. Publications – “SNAPSHOTS” The official chapter publication “SNAPSHOTS” was printed in January, August, and the last issue will be targetted for release in December 2014. The main theme this year is ‘‘Close to Life’’. In line with the main theme, two feature interviews had been conducted with singer and songwriter, Gloria Tang, and Mr. Samues Leung, a gallerist who operates the Art business. A brief interview was also conducted with JCI Vice President Senator Altanbagana Shiituu on how he strikes a balance between JCI commitments and life. Breakthroughs: SNAPSHOTS adopted a GO Green policy whereby we published eSNAPSHOTS at the end of every month. 6 issues had been published. Our subscription has reached sister chapters and prominent figures we met in events. There is room for further expansion. A door knob made by recycled paper was showcased and distributed by our board of directors and our editorial team, including Carmen Mak, Sunny Chan and Emily Wu, to Jayceettes, JCI members and external parties. Guests could just subscribe by scanning the QR code or logging in our online subscription site. Secondly, publication has went beyond from simply a matter of writing. On 9 March, we provided the first Mailchimp workshop by inviting two designers to teach how to use Mailchimp, an online site to design and send email marketing campaigns for free. 16 Jayceettes attended the mini workshop and we received positive feedback from project chairmen and organizing committee members of other projects.

38

A great token of thanks to my area advisor Past President Senator Mariana Ng, my publication team including Sunny Chan, Emily Wu and Officer Carmen Mak for capturing so many meaning events and topics, and for participating in the online promotion of SNAPSHOTS. Every meeting was highly effective and inspiring. It marked the third year for me to follow up SNAPSHOTS and I am gratified that with friendship and our different attitude to life, publication never falls short of originality. 3. Public Relations From the beginning of the year, Public Relations team had supported various major events such as Nothing but Coffee and Care & Dare, A Bright New Horizon and 45th anniversary in terms of online promotion and gaining media coverage. A corporate folder was created for corporate identity. Meetings with prominent figures beyond JCI were supported to enhance our reach to stakeholders. A special thanks to Public Relations Officer Emily Wu for her support.

B) CONCLUSION & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Taking this opportunity, my gratitude goes to President Carol Yeung for her guidance, support, advice and trust to me and my team. I would also like to acknowledge National Assigned Executive Officer NVP Senator Zenith Lin, Immediate Past President Pauline Lau, my fellow Board mates for their high participation and support. My heartfelt thanks to my two Area Advisors Past President Senator Mariana Ng and Past President Winnie Tsang whose invaluable advice and vision guided me and my team to deliver more and more value to ourselves and our members. This year marked a year of friendship, inspiration and breakthroughs. I am thankful for the opportunity to work and grow with my fellow Board mates and my External Affairs team. I am happy to see that my teammates are not confined to a particular role, and we help each other in whichever area when needed. With the love and commitment from the above all throughout the year, I am pleased to fulfill all the responsibilities within the area. Thank you and wish you all every success. Best Wishes to 2015 Board of Directors

Report from Director Community Development Annie Cheung I am honored to serve the chapter as a Director in Community Development Area and as a Chairman to oversee the 2014 Care & Dare Project.

A) AREAS OF SUPERVISION 1. Care & Dare 2014 Project – “A Bright New Horizon” Campaign

The planning of the Care & Dare Project started in early January of 2014. Our goal is to reach the community in learning more about the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department (“CSD”). Our first meeting which included our President, the OC team, and CSD’s department management to explore possible opportunities for partnership. We then planned our first visit to CSD’s Lo Wu Correctional Institution, during which we also concluded to target female inmates and rehabilitated offenders for Care & Project in 2014. Sending “Care & Love” to the target audience is our main objective and a series of love actions were planned and executed throughout April to August. 1.1 Love Action 1 – Kick off Ceremony cum Educational Seminar A kick off ceremony of the Care & Dare Project was successfully held in the Hong Kong Science Park on April 12, 2014. It was an event supported by UNESCO which has adopted as part of the 2013-2014 “Peace of Youth”. The event was officiated by the Assistant Commissioner Mr. Woo Ying-Ming of Hong Kong Correctional Services Department, Acting National President Ms. Teresa Poon ,Campaign Ambassador Ms. Kate Tsui, UNESCO HK Dr. Darwin Chen, Ms. Nancy Loo, Mr.Ben Kuen and President of JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes Ms. Carol Yeung. Over 100 participants including students, JCI members, Jayceettes, media and supporting organizations participated the event. 1.2 Love Action 2 –Community Services in Lo Wu Correctional Institution In order to build self-confidence and create interests for female inmates to develop their design skills, four standard T-shirt design workshops and one advance T-shirt workshop have been held throughout June and July 2014. The workshops are co-organized and sponsored by Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, the HK Polytechnic University. The theme of the workshop is to teach inmates to express “trust” in their artworks. Unique teaching materials like dried flowers and leaves, stamps and wooden blocks were used.

50

The design artworks will then be printed on T-shirts as a finished product. A Briefing Session cum Design Social Innovation Seminar added value to the members and enhanced the understanding on the concept of Social Innovation and how design can be all rounded to improve in our daily life was held on May 20, 2014. 1.3 Love Action 3 – T-shirt Design Exhibition cum Closing Ceremony The final T-shirt products will be exhibited in the Closing Ceremony on August 23, 2014 at the Fashion Farm Foundation. The T-shirt designs will fall into 5 themes set by the designers to express the concept of “Trust” by female inmates. This exhibition also helps to arouse public interests to trusting rehabilitated offenders and accepting them into the community. A performance by “Dance Troupe” (a dance group formed by mentally handicapped persons) will present the T-shirt while performing various dances.

B) CONCLUSION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my Organizing Committee Kannie Au (Treasurer), Pinky Chiu (Secretary), Carmen Mak (Promotion), Emily Wu (Program), Vicky Kwan (Logistics), other helpers and big sister Jacqueline Kung. And our co-organizers Cosmetics & Perfumery Association of HK, Jockey club Design Institute for Social Innovation, subsidies from Hong Kong Junior Chamber Foundation, JCIHK Better World Funding and Hong Kong Jayceettes Trust Fund. A big thank you for the Deputy Chairman, Judy Wong, while I was on maternity leave; my Supervising Officer for her constant backup and support; my Project Adviser Past President Phyllis Chan for her insights and experience sharing; my board mates for their support; and last but not the least our President Carol Yeung for giving me this opportunity to chair this flagship project for the chapter. This project presented many challenges throughout the planning and execution process. It has been a busy period for me to welcome two newborns; my Care & Dare 2014 baby and my newborn baby girl at home. This project has given me opportunities to work with different sectors in the community: the government, NGOs, educational, corporate, etc. This lesson to plan a Community Project with limited budget and resources is a challenging and yet very rewarding process. My vision is to send Love & Care to female inmates and to arouse awareness to the public on accepting rehabilitated offenders to re-integrate into the community. After 7 months of hard work, I have finally got a chance to get to know more about the target audience. I found that besides the achieved vision that we have set, there is more to gain from the whole project.

51

I have discovered that through the design workshops, inmates were very interested to finish an artwork by themselves. It is like a masterpiece for them. What I realized is although the inmates need love and care from others, what is needed the most is self-actualization. A platform for them to realize their many talents and a channel to express their feelings through art is a great way for them to gain satisfaction and happiness. It was a great learning experience for myself in this year of JC Life. I must also thank my family for supporting me in joining JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes and to work together for a better community.

A fun and thrilling bubble soccer game is under preparation as a casual gathering and a promotion to 2014 JCI World Congress, which is targeted to be held in early October 2014.

B) CONCLUSION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS With this opportunity, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to President Carol for trusting me and inviting me to serve as a Director this year. The experiences I have gained and the unforgettable friendship with the board members would definitely bring me a smile every time I look back to this year. To be honest, I have never thought of myself to act as a leading role before and being the chairman for the first time for March Fellowship Gathering was quite exciting. With no doubt, this project could not be successful without the hardworking OC team, namely, International Affairs Officer Carmen Mak and members Vicky Chan, Jocelyn Chan, Sunny Chan and Phoebe Lee, as well as the guidance from President Carol, Past President Winnie Tsang and Vice President Naomi. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the guests who have participated and enjoyed the sparkling environment on the event day. Their contribution and the laughter we have shared gave me a big motivation to serve as a better chairman. Reflecting on the previous 7 months on board, I notice that there are so many areas in which I can improve on. Nevertheless and truly from the bottom of my heart, I have cherished the time together with my creative and elegant International Affairs team. In this connection, please allow me to thank my team for such a joyful team spirit. Last but not least, I would like to thank each of the board members for fighting hard together in 2014. Serving as one of the board members and receiving the appreciation from the members has given me a rewarding accomplishment.
