JCI CREED We believe: That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That Government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth's great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life.

We also continue to plant our JCI seed in young kids by promoting SDG Junior Ambassador Program both locally and globally. This year, we successfully engaged Hong Kong Girl Guides Association as our Training Co-Organizer which is currently the largest female youth organization in Hong Kong and developing our program globally by launching our SDG Training in Tokyo and Manila in mid 2018. With “Engage To Empower” as our theme in 2018, we are engaged to create positive changes and to amplify our impact by empowering others with the shared values. We look forward to your active participation and support and together we bring JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes to another new height!

Woofoo Water Race Booth ・ 22 April 2018

Our award-winning SDG Junior Ambassador Programme (SDGJA) is back this year with the theme of “Environment, Health and Well-Being” with focus on four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – SDG 3 Health and Well-being, SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 13 Climate Action. Adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, SDGs are a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure all people enjoy peace and prosperity. JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes successfully launched the first SDG Junior Ambassador Programme in 2017 with the mission of “education for all” for young teenagers and adults to raise their global awareness and to have better knowledge on societal issues aligned with SDGs with training and implementation activities. The originality of this project won numerous local and international awards including The Best Local Global Goals Project at the JCI Hong Kong National Convention 2017, and The Best Global Goals Project and Most Outstanding Local Project (Top 3 Finalists) at the JCI World Congress 2017 Amsterdam. The Programme impacted thousands of primary and junior high students, teachers, parents in Hong Kong and Manila (The Philippines) in its first year. Riding on the success from last year, in 2018, we have set ambitious goals to extend our impact abroad and to bring our SDG Junior Ambassador trainings to the new level with brand new training course materials and system. This year, we aim to also deliver trainings in Hong Kong, Japan, and The Philippines.

Our SDG Junior Ambassador Programme Organizing Committee team participated in the Hong Kong Water Race as Supporting Organization by hosting a Game Booth. This event is organized by our Strategic Partner Wofoo Social Enterprise. We created a Game Booth to promote our project and the UN SDGs, as well as raising the awareness on global health and environmental issues in the community. The game booth was designed with 3 recycled cardboard dices that were made up of 17 SDGs and the players were required to throw the dices and share with us how much they know about the SDGs. From our participants that day, it revealed that the SDGs are not known to many Hong Kong young teens or children, which it definitely motivated us to continue our project and to educate our future generation about the goals.

Train-the-Trainer Workshop ・ 6 May 2018 We are excited to present you the first-ever “Train-the-Trainers” Workshop co-organized with Hong Kong Girl Guides Association. It was successfully held on 6 May 2018 with over 50 participants including Guiders, Rangers and our Jayceette members!

SDG Junior Ambassador Programme is proud to have Hong Kong Girl Guides Association as Training Co-Organizer this year. The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association is currently the largest female youth organization in Hong Kong, and one of the 150 Member Organizations of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. We are excited to launch our SDG Junior Ambassador Programme trainings to Brownie Guides (aged 6-12) and Girl Guides (aged 10-18) from May to July. The SDG Junior Ambassador training activity packs have officially been adopted as one of the Girl Guides official projects and a special badge will be awarded to Guides that complete the training programme.

Kick-off Ceremony ・10 February 2018

The participants were highly motivated and engaged by the trainers through activities and games! Throughout the training, they were able to understand more about the Sustainable Development Goals. Feedback from participants said: “The training was fun and useful in designing and planning their activities in the future to promote SDGs to our kids and our community”.

2018 SDG Junior Ambassador Programme Kick-off Ceremony was held on 10 February 2018 (Saturday), where more than 100 guests have attended, learning and sharing the belief of SDG would lead us to peace and sustainability by year 2030. Special thanks to UNESCO Hong Kong Association - Peacemakers' Celebration and Hong Kong Science Park for sponsoring the venue for this debut event. As well, we are happy that our SDG Junior Ambassador Programme is recognized as one of the "Social Peace Project" by our Strategic Partner UNESCO Hong Kong Association

Our "Jayceettes SDG Baby Trainers" include (From Left to Right): PM Winnie Li, OC Angel Lam, Director Caren Ngai, Project Chairman Samantha Kong (Head Trainer), Project Advisor Past President Senator Carol Yeung (Head Trainer), President Rosanna Wong, Supervising Officer Ellen Chung (Assistant Trainer), VP Dora Chan, Officer Rainbow Yuen, OC Sammi Yung and Vincy Wong.

Girl Guides and Leaders are recognized with a special badge or pin upon successful completion of SDG Junior Amabassador Programme.

In early July, there will be an exchange opportunity for selected Outstanding SDG Junior Ambassadors (Hong Kong Girl Guides) to Tokyo, Japan. We are pleased to have confirmed Hong Kong Airlines as Airline Sponsor to provide this valuable opportunity to our young girls. Our aim is to provide a chance for the young Girl Guides to represent Hong Kong to present what they have done in Hong Kong related to the SDGs and how they impact their local communities , and they will be given a chance to explore how SDGs are promoted and implemented in Japan. In addition, we will conduct our training in Japan with the Girl Scouts of Japan to share views on international issues and to extend our global reach in our Programme. More trainings abroad and events will be announced in the coming month including a special social media video campaign, stay tuned on our Facebook www.facebook.com/sdgja for the latest information. The February Fellowship Gathering was successfully held on 10 February 2018 with 35 Jayceettes and friends. During the event, our members and guests dressed up in Yukata (Japanese summer casual kimono), enjoyed Japanese refreshments, and were taught to make their own Japanese hair accessories. Members and friends enjoyed this event and this is just the tip of an iceberg of how this year’s JCI ASPAC in Kagoshima would be in May!

President and our National Assigned Executive Officer Ben Mak, witnessing the installation of our 2018 President Rosanna Wong and the Board of Directors.

March - Learn the Art of Modern Calligraphy with Jayceettes

(Chairman: Vice President Davina Wong)

What’s more, the surprisingly lively video casted by our full board became the highlight of the Inaugural Ceremony to kick-off the year plan presentation and highlighted what their main focus in the coming year is.

Honorary Life President Senator Jennifer Yu led the installation of our 2018 President Rosanna Wong.

Remember the calligraphic agate stone received in our January Inaugural Ceremony? Every piece was hand written wholeheartedly by our dearest President Rosanna! Membership Affairs Area especially organized a MFG to gather Jayceettes together in learning the Art of Modern Calligraphy! With over 40 participants joining, we made our own embossing calligraphy!

After practicing strokes for some time, we started to get confident in writing the words out! Once we were confident enough, the teacher came by one to one and demonstrate the word we would like to write on our plate!

Around 140 members and guests joined our first event of 2018 and witnessed the installation of our 2018 President Rosanna Wong and the Board of Directors.

Echoing with the theme of "Engage to Empower", we invited guests to add colours to our painting at the reception desk where each guest drew a stroke on the painting. Engaging the efforts of all, the painting became a beautiful and colorful piece of art. With a little magic played by our 2018 Board of Directors, the slogan was vividly displayed finally!

Big applause goes to the great effort and preparation by the Organizing Committee led by Chairman Vicki Chan and her fellow teammates including Debbie Lam, Maggie Yau, Marie Kam, Sammi Yung and Vicki Loo with the support of Secretariat Area Advisor Past President Anny Kwan and Project Supervising Officer Hon.Secretary Audrey Yip!

Jayceettes is a huge welcoming family for members to build close relationships, we build connections among people. The warm nature of Jayceettes is the reason why I am so devoted to join especially when I was given the opportunity to meet new friends from different countries, age and occupations. Learning is for life, JC helped to explore my potential strengths and improve my weaknesses. I hope I can learn the best out of Jayceettes and also to contribute my experiences in the future.

Being a member in Jayceettes allows me to think and act ‘out of the box’. I have been given a lot of opportunities to try new things, and the strong bonding among the members deeply impressed me.

It was a great opportunity to grow in different parts when I joined Jayceettes, e.g., management, presentation and personal skills through training progams and working in projects! It is because all members are willing to teach, support and guide me, such inherits excellent spirits to new members. It makes me enjoy very much in my Jayceettes’ life easily.

On May 14 to 18, 10 senior members joined a business trip to Ningxia(寧夏) China to learn more about “The Belt and Road”, organized by JCIHK Mainland Affairs Commission.

On June 1 to 4, our second prime event of the year is a trip to Seoul, a chance to learn Korean culture and to buy our favourite cosmetic products. Sure it will be an enjoyable trip to experience our Jayceette sisterhood.
