MESSAGE 2015 JCI Malaysia National President

Teoh Boon Kiat

Dear Delegates of the 2015 JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention, It is with great pleasure for me to welcome each and every one of you to the 40th JCI Malaysia Annual National Convention (JCIM ANC), held in the same year as JCI Centennial Celebrations. For an organization to survive for 100 years is an amazing feat, hence we should all be proud to be a JCI member. JCI provides plenty of development opportunities, and the only way to benefit from it is through active participation in the projects and programs. Your involvement should not be limited at just your local organization. Continue to take part in other JCI local organizations, national and international programs and activities. JCI provides you a global network that many other organizations in this country don’t have, so we urge you to cherish and utilize this platform. We at the National Office have introduced plenty of new initiatives and new programs this year in realizing the 3 Areas of Focus for 2015, and we hope you have benefitted from it. Thank you for making the Nationwide Project Impact 100 Day a reality. We have also engaged with many new partners for the first JCI National Partnership Summit this year namely UNICEF, Secretariat for Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs (SAME), Center for Entrepreneur Development and Research (CEDAR) of SME Bank. We have strengthened our relations with the Malaysian Youth Council and educated members via the Nationwide Active Citizen FrameWorkshop, which also involved members of the local government and NGOs. Our JCI Malaysia Secretariat is fully operational for you to come and conduct your meetings or trainings there. Lastly, we have also successfully hosted the 2015 JCI Asia Pacific Conference at Kota Kinabalu, together with members from various parts of Malaysia who lend their helping hands, and sacrificing their day and night to ensure this event is succesful. We encourage each local organization to create their flagship project, form their identity that when the local community mention of the project title, they will immediately remember your local organization and JCI. We encourage you to instill the CAT spirit this year. Have the Courage to explore new boundaries; Practice Active Citizenship in your daily life; and enhance the Teamwork spirit in your local organization. We are proud to see you take action in the Nationwide Flood Relief Program early this year. Well done for creating positive impact in the lives of the community affected by the floods. Dear all delegates‌now that you are here in 2015 JCIM ANC, we need your Commitment, Involvement and Action. The program this year has been devised to provide you with multiple learning, sharing and networking opportunities. Move around beyond your circle of friends, make new friends, share your thoughts and knowledge, and learn from each other. You will certainly gain more than you expect by the end of this convention, and hope you will be inspired to attend future JCI conventions and conferences. Our sincere appreciation to the Guest of Honor, Government Ministries, sponsors and partners of this JCIM ANC, for without you, we will not be able to organize this event at such grand scale. Lastly, thank you to the Conference Organizing Committee led by Convention Director Doris and Hosting Local Organisation JCI Kota Kinabalu for your hard work in producing a memorable convention for JCI Malaysia this year. Enjoy the experience whilst it last. All the best and let us continue to bring JCI Malaysia to greater heights! Teoh Boon Kiat 2015 JCI Malaysia National President

MESSAGE 2015 JCI Malaysia National Secretary General Ex-officio for 40th Annual National Convention

Nurul-Huda Mohamed Afandi Greetings to fellow JCI members, After 5 years in JCI and 5 years attending JCIM ANC, I am honored to be the Ex-Officio for this year’s JCI Malaysia 40th Annual National Convention. It is even more special as it coincides with JCI 100 Years Anniversary and Jaycees Malaysia Senate 30th Anniversary. It has been a pleasure working with Convention Director Doris, Convention Administrator EK and all the team in JCI Kota Kinabalu. The warmth you have showered me when I attended your 2 days 1 night Installation Ceremony at the cool foothills of Mount Kinabalu; each time I went to KK for meetings with the team; catching up with CD Doris and EVP Daphne at the various Area Conventions; and the almost daily message exchange on emails and WhatsApp… will always be remembered. It’s like having a new family in Kota Kinabalu this year. Organizing a conference is never easy, what more having to assist / supervise 3 major conferences this year namely JCI ASPAC in June, JCIM ANC in Oct and the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneur Asia Summit in Oct-Nov 2015. However, it is indeed a truly rewarding experience for me, and great opportunity to get insight into organizing major international events. To the JCIM ANC Conference Organizing Committee, though it may feel like an uphill battle sometimes, rest assured that the satisfaction at the end will simply be most rewarding and uplifting. My sincere appreciation to NP Cat for the trust and freedom you have given to me in implementing many new changes for the ANC program this year, in our efforts to provide more value to all the delegates present. How fast time flies! It feels just like yesterday that we were at the 2014 JCIM ANC campaigning and preparing for elections, and now it’s time for the new Board of Directors to have a go at the elections. The Annual National Convention is indeed a good time for us in the National Board to reflect on what we have done in our year in office, to review the impact we have created in the lives of members, and also to meet all the members who have supported us during the year. To all the 2015 JCIM ANC delegates, I wish for you to have a fruitful, productive and memorable convention. We bring you many new and interesting topics via the forum and training, and introduce new programs throughout the whole convention. I hope that it inspires you to attend future conventions and continue to support other national programs. Thank you and see you again in the near future. Nurul-Huda Mohamed Afandi 2015 JCI Malaysia National Secretary General
