New Member is the asset of a chapter, JCI Kota Kinabalu kickstarted the calendar of activity with New Member Orientation, trained by Head Trainer Vincent (2017 Vice President) and Co-trainer Irene Chong (2021 Secretary General. The trainers given out introduction, history and a starter kit of JCI Kota Kinabalu to new members.

With the collaboration with JCI George Town, JCI Kota Kinabalu successfully organized Graphic Design Workshop with Trainer President Richard Teo (2021 JCI George Town President) and Trainer Tan Wei Jian (2019 National Secretary General). President Richard explained the things to do and don’t for poster design, basic concept of using Canva while Trainer Wei Jian also taught what are the things that we need to look out before publishing our poster.

Project The Hope: Bantuan Banjir is a project helped the victims who affected by the heavy floor happened in Penampang area. By the end of the project, with the collaboration of PPPS, we able to build a sustainable and cost efficiency bridge to the at least 70 individuals in 9 household in Kg Sugud, Penampang. Program outline as follows: 17th Jan 2021 – Purchased the needed goods and repack at the collection point (ITCC car park). Gathered more than 150 dry food packs to the flood victims. 18th Jan 2021 – Send out food packs to Kampung Dabak, Kibabaig, Tuavon and Kampung Proper 19th Jan 2021 – Send out food packs to Kampung Hungab, Kolopis, Sugud and Nosoob 20th Jan till 24th Jan 2021 – Send out Canvas to PPPS for repair the St Paul’s Hall caused by Landslides 24th Jan 2021 – Site inspection of Kampung Sugud to assess the situation to assist in the need of planning on the construction of the bridge. 27th Jan till 06th Feb2021 – Start construct the bridge upon received the sponsored gabion and other raw materials.

While everyone was occupied in preparing for Lunar New Year gathering dinner, our sponsor Yong and Sons Enterprise, JCI Kota Kinabalu President and Board of Directors have the heart for the community and send out 100kg of Khey Teow to two Special Care Centers, two Convents and six Elderly Care Centers around Kota Kinabalu. Although we cannot celebrate this new year all together but through giving out our loves, people who benefited will know.

Successfully conducted first ever Virtual Chinese New Year Celebration in JCI Kota Kinabalu. A total of 22 paticipants joined the celebration which included JCI Kota Kinabalu Past Presidents, JCI Members and guests. Organizing Chairperson Kimberly arranged catering lunch sent over to all the participants workplace or home. This pandemic separated the physical distance between members and past president but through Zoom Meeting everything is possible again.

Zero Virus! continue to serve the local community this year 2021. Zero Virus! 2021 1.0, we gathered in-kind donation of 3600 hand sanitizer from our great sponsors LocPlusLov, Lova Creation Management, Z's Production & Alcogiene. Donated all 3600 bottles of sanitizer to our frontliner in Hospital Wanita Kanakkanak, Karamunsing Police Station and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu. This project benefited 3600 officier, doctors and nurses and their family members.

On 25th March, JCI Kota Kinabalu has successfully organized Project H: Back to School x Zero Virus 2021! collaborated with Penggerak Komuniti Negara - P.171 Sepanggar, lead by Dr Roland Chia & Belia Dapur in Tadika Kg Unggun Karambunai, by sending out 75 boxes of kid face mask and also given an awareness talk about corona virus and hand foot mouth disease by teach them how to wash hand and how the virus or bacteria can spread easily among others. Spent a very fruitful morning with kids and volunteers in the school, looking forward to spread more awareness to more schools in the near future.
