JCI India Challenge
Dear JCI friends, Warm greetings from National President. Jaycee week is here again. Let’s make it a very colourful, inspirational and vibrant Jaycee Week celebration. This year, we have planned the Jaycee Week on the theme of UN SDG goals. JCI is partnering with United Nation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Being responsible citizens, we all need to inculcate the habits in our day to day living which will help us to achieve the same. Few such habits are to preserve the nature, optimum use of water, gender equality, cleanliness, save electricity, reduce carbon emissions, use more public transport etc. "Big changes come with small effort" and I am sure we just need to put a small effort from our end to achieve these goals. So my dear friends, let's inculcate good habits and small commitments ourselves and start contributing. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every LOM and members for welcoming me in your respective zones. I wish to inform you that I have completed my official visit to all the Zones of JCI India. My sincere thanks to all the Zone Presidents, Zone Officers, NP Visit Coordinators, LOM Presidents and the loving members for their dedication and commitment which help me to complete my visit. It has always been encouraging for me to be in touch with the lovely members. You all are awesome and you are the back bone of our organization. Keep inspiring, keep progressing… I wish to inform you all that JCI India has launched two training programs for the members. The one is National level and another is International level program which will help our trainers to groom themselves according to the current requirement of people. The first one is a higher level training program "JCI India Author" which can be persuaded after passing NTTTS and second one is "JCI India ITS (International Training Summit - SAMURAI)" in which international trainers deliver the training for the first time. I hope this will surely help our members a lot to learn the new and Innovative techniques of trainings and leadership qualities. I would like to inform you that I have been to all the major National and International events till date. I invite you all to be there for the Bangalore NATCON. The host is all set to welcome you all with open heart and they have many prizes and awards for you all. For those who have not registered for the NATCON, please register yourself at the earliest. I also like to invite you for the World Congress which is going to be held in the Quebec City, Canada. Register yourself in maximum numbers as we are officially going to bid for the World Congress 2018 at Goa, India. I would like to congratulate the editor and all the editorial board members for their exemplary work throughout the year in publishing the JCI India official magazine ‘Challenge’ in time. I am very much delighted to see the content of the magazine. It's very much appreciable and informative. Wishing you all the success in future.

A JOURNEY
JASMINE 2016
“
My summer vacations were going on and on one fine morning my father Jc Manish Shah told about a training programme of National level organized by JCI India named “JASMINE” hosted by JCI Nagfem at Nagpur. I asked my father what is this JASMINE all about, what kind of training will be given, whether it is a classroom training or what etc. I was very excited to know about this. The host team created a whatsapp group in which all my questions were answered. Many circulars were shared in which all detail information about JASMINE, about host, about faculties, about all activities, competitions was given & the most exciting the title of “jasmine prince & princess”.
OF DREAM COME TRUE ” kirti Shah, Class-VIII Yashwardhan Shah, Class-X JCI JHARSUGUDA, ZONE-IX All participants were divided in 11 groups with different names for each group & a unique jingle for each group. We did many activities like making photo collage, drawing, painting, visiting card with thumb impression, dancing, master chef etc. In all activities we enjoyed a lot.
The training dates were from 9th June to 12th June 2016. Finally the day came and on 8th night me, my elder brother Yashvardhan & 8 others from Jharsuguda started our journey for a wonderful training programme JASMINE. Friends before this I have never attended any training programme. This was my first experience so i was very much excited. In train i was just thinking about activities, games, faculties, accommodations, other participants, host-team. I was little scared as for the first time i was going out of station without my parents.

In entertainment night we all were in our traditional wear & it was looking like a Mini India is there in the campus. We went for outing to visit Deekshabhoomi. It was nice place. I made many friends. Last day we all gave our opinion about each other by writing in their white t-shirts they wore. It’s a treasure for me. Though we all were from different places/zones but enjoyed like a family. Pilot faculty Sheetal mam was awesome, co-faculty Mita mam & Dolly mam were really very caring, lovely & energetic. They all taught us about self confidence, time management, mind development, unity & team work, attitude, beheviour management and goal setting. Special thanks to host President Jc Varsha mam along with Dharini mam and team for wonderful hosting.
We reached Nagpur. The host & our chepron Jc Archana mam welcomed us. We all moved to the venue “Royal Gondwana Public School”. we jumped out of bus with our luggage & shouted with excitement seeing the large campus of the venue. We had an introductions round with the faculties & other participants. We all were very happy & excited to meet faculties, host team & many new friends. In inauguration JCI India National President Rajshree mam, kakaji & Rajesh Agrawal sir really motivated me a lot with their wonderful speeches.
I carried many memories which i will never forget. I wish i can attend some more camps like this in future.
“JASMINE camp was just like flower JASMINE It was very refreshing, lovely & beautiful ”
Every morning we were waked up by Juhi didi at 4’o clock & then we were going for work out & exercise with lovely music. We all enjoyed a lot with this new kind of experience. There were around total 113 participants. Everyday there was different delicious menu for breakfast, lunch & dinner with sweets & yummy icecreams.

Next we had Group Culturals, through which we Witnessed various Talents of Participants. On Third Day, it was Action Based Activity Session, which is called Out Bound Training. We entered in to tyres from one side to another side at various heights, got our legs tied to cross the end lines and Finally the Rope Walk…..Wow…what a Wonderful Lifetime Experience it was. The Team Spirit of all the Participants Reached Skies that we forget that we are doing group activity and started motivating each other then and there. Evening Session was “NALANDA BASH” were we truly enjoyed Dancing and it is Full on Entertainment. The Fourth was Auspicious Day, because it was August 15th, our Independence Day. NALANDA 2K16
“I’m not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world”, says Mary Anne Radmacher, the author of “Lean Forward into your Life”… This is true of me too… I have changed… my perceptions, my outlook towards life… everything has changed... after the trip to New York to attend the 2016 JCI Global Partnership Summit… It was a proud moment for me to accompany our beloved National President JCI Sen. Rajshree Bhaje to New York representing JCI India at the summit. The whole trip, and the fun we had, would fill an entire book if you ask me! It was really like a fairy tale experience. From boarding the doubledecker flight from Abu Dhabi to New York, the stay in the 5star luxury Headquarters Hotel Waldorf Astoria, the New York City Sight Seeing Bus tours, visiting well-known places like the New York Stock Exchange, the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, the fun filled photo sessions at the Rockefeller Center, the late night walks through the streets of New York, the first views of the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations Headquarters and the unforgettable experience at Madame Tussaud’s… They were all a dream come true…..
At Close Quarters: My Experience at the 2016 JCIN Global A LPartnership A N DSummit A Jc Aparna Kumar The Leader inG.You
NOM Coordinator 2016 Gender Equality (UNSDG)
Spending a week with the National President of JCI India in itself was an experience which I would cherish forever… I was learning… The down-to-earth attitude, the friendship, the care, it leaves me really speechless. The compassion she has for the underprivileged and the support she gives to the women she comes in contact with is something which really touched my heart. The way she guides you, the way she motivates you, the way she pushes you forward – you don’t realize it till you have achieved it, and you have been transformed… I believe these are the traits of a true leader…
The 2016 JCI Global Partnership Summit officially began on 25 July at the Waldorf Astoria, with a keynote address by Aminata Toure, the former Prime Minister of Senegal. The second day was filled with stories of inspiration and motivation from dynamic leaders who have created positive changes in their countries and across the world, in the JCI Morning Show: New York City Edition. The most impressive among them was that of a young girl, Hannah Godefa, who is the UNICEF National Ambassador to Ethiopia. When one of her pen friends told her she wouldn’t be able to write to her anymore because she didn’t have pencils, the 7-year old Hannah wondered how it could be possible when she had so many at home... she started approaching churches and other institutions to donate pencils to these children. Since then, she has cultivated a habit of giving and now is well known for her project, “Pencil Mountain”, which has delivered close to half a million pencils to children in rural Ethiopia. Another very interesting session was by Dr Mieko Nishimizu, Former Vice President, World Bank Group. She spoke about Gross National Happiness (GNH), the philosophy which has guided the Nation Building of the Kingdom of Bhutan and how successful Japanese business leaders are practicing GNH as their management philosophy. The theory is as simple as this – sell happiness to the customers, not products…. Make Happiness your business…
Before the Summit began, we had an official visit to UN Women, the UN organisation dedicated to Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. We introduced the activities JCI India is doing to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially our flagship project, “Suraksha”, and the projects we have been doing to create awareness on Gender Equality. Since we have been active members in their working group for the last few months, they are aware of all our activities here and it was like meeting family… We will be working together to promote the “LEAP” framework (Leadership Development; Economic Empowerment and Skill Development; Action on Ending Violence against young Women and Girls; Strengthening Participation) for the empowerment of women. Make Happiness your business… July 27 & 28 were the days we were eagerly waiting for… The sessions at UN Headquarters… After intense security checks, we entered the 39-story historical Secretariat Building... It felt really amazing… Just within the premises stood a line of flagpoles where the flags of all 193 UN member states, as well as the UN Flag, are flown in English alphabetical order. It was interesting to know that these flags are raised manually by UN security officers every weekday morning at 8 am and lowered every evening at around 4 pm. The complex also displayed iconic sculptures like the “Knotted Gun”, called Non Violence, which was a gift to the UN by the Government of Luxembourg. Inside the building was a wall with the pictures of all the UN Secretary Generals... And wherever we went, we could see posters about the SDGs. Just walking through the corridors made us feel that “Peace is Possible”... every wall spoke about peace and human rights...
We had wonderful sessions in these two days. The JCI and Global Goals Update by JCI President Paschal Dike and JCI Secretary General Arrey Obenson, Peace is Possible Interactive session, Engaging the Business Sector in Global Development Panel and Discussion, Developing the JCI Global Partnership Summit resolution & its presentation… All these sessions were very interesting and thought provoking.
N A L A N D A The Leader in You
The UN Secretary General’s Envoy on youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, said that creating awareness about the Global Goals is very important. The need of the hour is the engagement of people. The Global Goals cannot be achieved without local action. Every little action you take in this organization is moving the Global Goals ahead. He gave us a few simple tips to apply them in our community – Task No 1: Learn all the Global Goals Task No 2: Choose one which suits your community Task No 3: Connect with others Task No 4: Tell the World what you are doing through Facebook and Twitter, with suitable hashtags
The feeling is something to be experienced and cannot be described in words…
The icing on the cake was the appearance of Ban ki-Moon himself for the closing ceremony. It was the moment we were all waiting for. Excitement and anticipation was heavy in the air. He came, he spoke, he left, but the impact was made… We had all made a commitment in our hearts… A commitment to create a global impact through local action…

Sringeri, also written as Shringeri is a hill town and taluka headquarters located in Chikkamagaluru district in the state of Karnataka, It is the site of the first maha (Sringeri Sharada Peeta) established by Adi Shankara, Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, in the 8th century CE It is located on the banks of the river Tunga and also a historical Temple (1200 years). JCI Sringeri is one of the very active LOM in zone XIV. Our LOM has got a big reputation in the society for producing fantastic 31- elite group of past presidents. Having a grand history of 31 years, I JC N.K. Vijayakumar as a president of JCI Sringeri 2016 feel proud and happy to be part of this beautiful JCI organization.
Because of all these above donors, we could able to successfully inaugurate and distribute these Suraksha with the presence of our beloved NP and our young ZP. Doing this program this way, we unknowingly created 2 records/histories. Out of 5,564 Taluks in India Sringeri has become the first Taluk to adopt Suraksha in all the educational institutions. In India JCI Sringeri has become the first LOM to install 23 Suraksha at a time. And by this we JCI Sringeri emerged as the LOM with the highest number of Suraksha installations throughout JCI India. I thank all my CGB members, Past Presidents, ZGB members, NGB members, ZP, NP and Donors who supported me in making this Suraksha project a grand success.
Fortunately this year I have got a extraordinary Zone President, and a excellent National President who are always pushing us towards reaching our goal. The SURAKSHA which is declared has the National Flagship Program – 2016 by our beloved NP is a fantastic program which has a message promoting; Clean India Drive, Women Empowerment, Youth Empowerment, Health and Hygiene. Because of these factors I was motivated and decided to implement this project in our Taluk. In our Taluk we have 14 High schools, 4 PU Colleges, 2 Degree colleges, 1 Nursing Institute and related girls Hostels. To install in all these institutions our requirement was 23 Sanitary Napkin incinerators i.e. 23 SURAKSHA. Our presentation regarding Suraksha project to the people of society created a big impact and we got a huge positive response. The cost of each Sanitary Napkin Incinerator was Rs. 19,000/-. So total cost of the project for 23 Suraksha was Rs. 4,37,000/-. The weight, depth and sensitivity of the project SURAKSHA made us to receive the donations from different individuals and organizations easily.

Are you an
spellbound and in awe. I repeat this session only had information like a 24X7 free receptionist for your enterprise. To think that One can estimate the quality of training and information exchanged in ABLE without attending the program is a phantom conspiracy of the mind? Nope you need to be an ABLEian to know what is our Academy of Business Leadership and Excellence. What happens in ABLE does not stay in ABLE. It is reflected in an ABLEians life journey and the story of fellowships we have. Imagine meeting a strong willed person who is unable to see, has a pacemaker and his hips have had surgery with an aim to create “Diabetes free India”. Talk about seeing and living with strong willed and spirited people like Dr Rajendra Nandedkar in your team is an experience only ABLE can get you. If that does not speak volumes imagine a person with an annual turnover of Rs 500 Crore ironing your shirt! That my friend is the lesson in humbleness and comradeship that I learned in ABLE. Every participant along with the faculty is a sea of knowledge with whom your heart creates a tributary for life.
NALANDA 2K16
ABLE ian?
Jc Harsh Jhunjhunwala President 2016 JCI Shillong Pine City ABLE is an acronym for Academy of Business Leadership and Excellence. ABLE is held at two center the North center (in which I was fortunate to participate) and the South center. The ABLE(NORTH) was held in Gwalior from July 28th to 31st July 2016. One of the Premium training programs of JCI India was hosted by the energetic and enthusiastic Jc’s of JCI Gwalior, Zone VI under the able leadership of JC Sachin Kurtikar, National Director Business JCI India who never left sight of the entire program. I say energetic because be it 4am, 5 am or 11pm or 1am JCI Gwalior President JC Rinkesh Agarwal and team were present for any requirement at any given time. ABLE is associated with the most able LOMs of JCI India and all the 65 JC’s participants , the corporate participants and the faculty attending ABLE (North) 2016 can vouch that the most able LOM hosted ABLE 2016 (North)showcasing an example of unbelievable, indomitable spirit of JC’s.
N A L A N D A 2016The we were fortunatein enough Leader You to
In ABLE, have met personalities who have proven their mettle in this sea of humans. We met and heard Mr Ramashanker Singh, Chancellor of ITM University. I tell what he has achieved is a feat worth emulating but his enthusiasm to meet the ABLEians and learn and share was so great that 102°F body temperature could not deter him. My interaction with Gaurav Jain, MD ColdEX, India Premier Cold Chain Company has left an imprint which I share with you. I asked the young dynamic gentleman how old was he? He replied “a year younger than you”. Infer the attitude of this successful gentleman form the sentence. There is more learning than I can write in this single sentence spoken by this gentleman. Further an added advantage is that JCI India Flagship Programs give you an opportunity to meet great leaders of our JCI India like the history maker and the first lady President of JCI India NP JC Sen Rajshree Bhaje, PNP JCI Sen K. Vallabhdas, chairman of JCI India Foundation and an inspiration for JC’s of India and a host of JCI India leaders whose presence and ease of accessibility is only possible in an organization like our JCI.
When I speak of faculty I say few of the best trainers among the Great JC teaching fraternity are at ABLE such as the Leader HGF Rajesh Khandelwal, Energetic Dinesh Kapila, Ultimate Himadri Sinha and Consistent Javed Khan Rana. Being associated with ABLE for 10years and as pilot faculty for first time the Leader HGF Rajesh Khandelwal’s words “Don’t get trapped in ant’s vision” tells you about IIM(Innovate, Integrate and Multiply) the tag line for ABLE (north). As JC’s we should innovate our lives with values instilled in our creed, integrate it within our daily lives and multiply our selfless service to society by bringing in positive change. Similarly my dear friends the ABLE program does the IIM for your business establishment. Write from the ABLE Kit, every move, every word is fine tuned to the outmost perfect detail to give you in 3 days what people get in years of learning.
ABLE is JCI India brand for excellence in business and professional career development and in words of energetic Dinesh Kapilaji “Brand is a word that you own in others mind”. I can proudly say from the day I left Gwalior for my hometown Shillong, that when we speak of Success in our professional careers’ ABLE is the word that comes in mind.
Take an example of a session by Himadriji. The entire session had only information but left everyone in presence

Asia Pacific Children’s Convention
By God’s grace and blessings of all, we could complete the project without any challenge. Everything was well planned and managed. We got support from all the ends and I am really thankful for that. Special thanks to Jc Dharini for a good and productive beginning. That start proved to be of great help to all of us to move to ahead in the right direction. After that, Jayveer sir oriented us very well just before the show. We were all very relaxed and at the same time excited about the project. Below is the highlight of the project mentioned sequence wise………….
· On 13th July, JCI Itoshima organized one day school visit for all the delegated which was the highlight of the whole APCC event. They organized various games and activities or children and served vegetarian lunch for all the participants. In the evening JCI organized summer festival with all the fun and enjoyment. There was a grand fireworks and flying lantern show which amazed everyone present there. There were free food stalls for everyone and it became a memorable event for all of us. A big thank you to JCI Itoshima Japan. · On 14th, APCC team organized a farewell party for all the JA’s with the presentation of bridge club and its song. Children enjoyed dance, music and fun all together. · On 15th July, sharp 1:30 officials from Onojo city came to pick up the Indian delegates for the meeting with the Mayor. We met the mayor of Onojo city for almost 20-25 minutes. JA Jhanvi and I delivered a speech which was interpreted by the officials. I handed over the gifts to the mayor from NHQ and from our side and he became extremely happy with that. One thanks letter was handed over to him from the mayor of Surat city Mrs. Asmita Shiroya. He accepted it very gracefully. We all received mementoes from the Mayour’s side.
· We boarded the flight on 9th midnight from Mumbai airport (Jc Dhaval Shah was extremely helpful in this project) We got a special privilege during the immigration as we were taken ahead of the queue. · Reached Hong Kong 10th morning at 9:30 A.M and met the teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Bhutan. · Boarded the flight at 11:30. Reached Fukuoka at 3:20 in the afternoon. · Had an extremely grand welcome at the airport. APCC officials and volunteers were eagerly waiting for all the delegates to arrive. They welcomed us in a grand manner and a photo session was done. Medical check-up was done and we all passed fit. · We boarded the bus for Marine house and reached there in the evening around 5:30. Rooms were allotted well in advance and room leaders were there to help and guide us. · Dinner time was a little early there so all of us were made comfortable by the APCC staff. · Chaperon meeting was held every day from 9:30 to 10:30 to discuss about the systems and new suggestions and ideas. · Day 2 was the day for fellowship with the children of all other countries. JA’s enjoyed all the ceremonies right from the morning assembly to the Japanese cultural exchange program. August 2016

· At six o’ clock, all the host families came to pick us up and they organized a welcome party for all of us. Our JA Anoop delivered a one minute speech in front of all the families. · Home stay was fully managed by Onojo city officials in a well-planned and organized way.On 18th July, our JA’s performed in Fukuoka city hall. Dance performance was excellent with live commentary by me. JA’s did it very well. · We could meet Indian Consul general in Fukuoka on 18th itself. He specially came to meet Indian delegates. He stayed there for our performance and enjoyed it thoroughly. A memento was given to him from our side and he was very happy. He handed over his visiting cards to all JA’s and he was very happy to meet all of us. · On 19th July Onojo city officials organized schools visit for me. They took me to all the schools where our JA’s were with their host brothers and sisters. We spent the whole day meeting the principals and teachers. The visit was very helpful in understanding their way of teaching and dealing with students.
We reached back Mumbai on schedule time where all the delegates were welcomed in a grand manner byImmediate Past National President JC PPP G. Subramaniam sir.

· On 20th,Japan cultural visit was organized where children learnt the Shibori art (tie and dye method) in Japanese style. · On 2oth evening, an exchange party was organized by all the host families. Children were served Indian food. Ice candies, sugar candies and different varieties of rice balls were made available for the children. Everyone had a gala time there. · All the JA’s were taken for sight -seeing and shopping many a times during their stay. All the host families were very supportive in all possible ways. Our JA’s learnt a lot during their home stay about the Japanese culture. All the JA’s made Indian food which they carried for their host families. In spite of the spice in the food, this gesture was appreciated by all the hosts. · On 23rd morning, we started our journey back from Fukuoka. All the host families were present at the airport to bid us goodbye. We had a nice photo session there and the APCC officials gave us great assistance at the airport too. August 2016
