Message from National President Dear JCI members, Greetings from your National President, Jc Ramkumar Menon. Hearty Congratulations! We got off to a dream start! We became positive in the 1st half well within the target date, carried out the events and projects in all the areas like Management, G & D, Training, Programs and Business in the best possible manner. Yes; we have been successful in setting some remarkable benchmarks. Now, we have to use this as the foundation to scale higher and greater achievements. For this, we need to have continuous motivation. People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing – that's why we recommend it daily. - Zig Ziglar Having a compelling dream and keeping oneself motivated continuously to make that dream a reality is what separates 'Great from Good''. We, JCI India, has a compelling dream. A dream to excel and raise the bar in every single portfolio! I am sure it is possible because we have a great team with sustained motivation which I could witness in the NEC and NGB on 1st, 2nd and 3rd May. My special appreciation to Zone President, Jc Bhuvan Raval and entire leaders of Zone VII for hosting NEC and NGB in a truly outstanding way. I would like to see every LOM in the country setting new benchmarks this year in all the portfolios and striving whole heartedly to achieve them. Though JCI India has projects and programs for LOMs and members, ours is a unique organisation which espouses to JCI PPP Ramkumar Menon act local. Depending on the requirement of the community, each LOM is encouraged 2017 National President – JCI India to design projects for the benefit of the community. Yet another hot and humid summer will give way for Monsoon and can't we take up the much needed idea of saving the nature's precious offering 'Rain' for future needs. 'Rain water harvesting' is the solution for the precarious water shortage in many parts of the country. We, JCI members, can demonstrate it as role models by doing it in their own houses and use our exceptional communication skills to empower people to act responsibly to 'Save and store for future use'. We are sincerely trying to address another great area of concern related to water, this year. It is to help our children drink quality water in schools. NP's flagship program, 'SUJAL', has been well accepted by all. Many LOMs have done 'SUJAL'. Let me remind that doing is not enough and you need to report the same to NHQ through your Zone leadership. In the coming days, I wish to see more LOMs implementing the National President's flagship program, SUJAL. Happiest moments for your National President are to be with grass root members. NP visits to Zone VII and XI were full of moments to cherish with lot of projects, programs, SUJAL inaugurations and above all love, care and warmth they have showered on me. Thanks to Zone Presidents Jc Bhuvan, Jc Poonam, Tour Coordinators and entire members of both the Zones for making it an ever memorable one. JCI India's first ever Senate Conclave at Hyderabad and premium Leadership and Business training programs like International Leadership Summit, “SAMRAT” at Bengaluru, ABLE North at Karnal, ABLE South at Salem and NALANDA at Agra, JCI India Author at Cochin are all great opportunities for learning unlimited. I urge all of you to make use of these class programs and get benefited. Remember, our lives are defined by the opportunities we embrace… Let's BUILD A BETTER FUTURE. With love & regards,
PPP Ramkumar Menon 2017 National President, JCI India

The Battle of Procrastination
JJ Aparna Benoy JCI Kottayam South This is one nation without boundaries, where a unity transcends to all citizens regardless of age, sex, colour, race, creed or even intelligence and beauty. All the duties of laziness are executed clumsily and tardily. Whether the chores are enjoyable or boring, as long as it has a due date and has a sense of authority around it, the citizens are born. It typically begins in the rebel phase of human life where they start finding pleasure in simple activities. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed in this State, but there is always an undercurrent of tension. All of them believe it is the epitome of awesomeness to belong here till the deadline is imminent. When that day arrives all flee this nation except for the hardcore believers. But even they will take off soon after. I am a citizen of this nation but like most of us, am not proud of it. I feel ready escape at the slightest storm yet I always wind up back here. That easy life is like a drug. Once addicted, it is very hard to withdraw from. Here are a few common characteristics of us junkies: Procrastinators have this unique ability to take up enormous tasks and complete them in insanely short periods of time. When completed we may feel like we could have done better with more time but the satisfaction in accomplishing such a difficult feat always overthrows any feeling of remorse. Making excuses is a skill we have mastered and perfected to the point where we can make ourselves believe that there really was no time. The little voice in the back of the head is so used to being muted and ignored that guilt is nonexistent over time. The unswerving belief that everything can and will be completed though the odds have piled up and broken the balance! We strongly believe that the 578 things to be done can definitely be done in the five minutes. You have just found the perfectly comfortable posture on that couch. How can you get up when the snug cushions are calling your name though all you will be doing is staring off into space? Surely those “things to be done” can wait for another 30 minutes?!
Ironically planning is one of the favourite things to be done. First we plan how all the work can be done in that one month. Feel there is plenty of time and little work so enjoy for another two more weeks. Then plan the same amount of work for the next two weeks, then the next four days, and then the next 24 hours. But it will be around three hours before the deadline that we actually start doing something! We are extremely chilled out and easy going. There is not even a hint of panic and worry even when the cut-off date is on top of us. We take into account every second and minute that is still left. We avoid worrying as that just takes up time and does not really accomplish much. Why not relax for those five minutes that someone else might have used up for panicking instead?! Found any similarities between you and me? If you do, I totally understand the struggles you face. How you keep planning but never end up doing anything. How you keep getting frustrated with yourself. How this laziness is so much a part of, it has to be ingrained in your DNA. Actually it could be. But the point is, do you want to change it? Do you think you can change it? Are you powerful enough to control yourself? Read on, if you wish to be forever exiled from this nation. Use planning to your advantage. Plan the breaks too. Pencil in time for those “five minutes stare off into space” and listening to that new song. Don't be idle when you plan. If you lie on your bed and plan your timetable, you will probably get distracted or fall asleep. Instead start drawing those border lines for the project while you plan the layout. Do things. If you are late according to your schedule, don't feel frustrated and distract yourself with something more rewarding. You will only feel worse later on. Start right away. Do it. Start hating laziness. Don't enjoy that five extra minutes of shut eye on your bed. Just spring up. Enjoy being active. Well, what are you still here for? Stop with the procrastination!

JASMINE is... ...like JASMINE Flower
- Jclt K Lasya Priya I, K. Lasya Priya, D/o Jc. K. Krishna Murthy, JCI Tirupati, Zone IV, write up this to express my views, thoughts and great experiences during my presence at “JASMINE Training Program. This year, JASMINE was held from 11th to 14th June 2017 at Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, being hosted by “JCI SIVAKASI DYNAMIC” – ZONE XVIII. I started my journey at Tirupati along with my parents and reached Madurai. From there, we travelled with Zone -18 Participants and had a great interaction with them. We also had yummy breakfast… travelling, traveling, travelling… through beautiful mountains and natural sceneries and finally reached our venue at Kodaikanal with more energy and enthusiasm. We got amazing rooms at “The Green Lake View Resorts”. We were 5 members in our room. One from Kerala, three from Tamil Nadu of different Zones and I am from Andhra Pradesh. So… after refreshing, firstly we all attended the Inaugural Ceremony. The Icon of Positive Attitude of JCI India PNP Jc Vallabhdasji was the Chief Guest. JCI Rupashree Rathnakumar, Nom Co ordinator, Jcrt Wing of JCI India chaired the mega event. We had four amazing faculty team members i.e. Senator Vallabhdajii as guest faculty, Jc. Manju Anand as Pilot from Tamil Nadu, Jc. Susan from Kerala and Jc. Divya from Karnataka as Co faculty. After the Inauguration, our first session started at 2.30 p.m. with an Ice Breaking, which gave us more to know about the other Participants very well. Totally there were 114 Participants from seven Zones from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, & Kerala. In the early mornings, we used to go for morning workouts, like physical exercises, outdoor games etc. Whereas every night we had a great entertainment sessions like “Camp Fire Night” & “Cultural Feast” etc. During the sessions, we also had great Group Activities, Creative Games, Role Plays, Individual & Group tasks and Presentations, Entertainment etc. We covered different Input Sessions like “ Values”, Positive Asstitude”, “Skills”,” Leadership”, “Smart Goals”, Self Management”, Food”, “Effective Public Speaking”, “Communication Skills”, Some Rules and Regulations to follow” etc. by expert faculty
team and also by PNP Jc Vallabhji. With the above Sessions, we gained a New Knowledge and were enriched New Skills which are more useful in our daily life and for our carrier growth. We also went for sightseeing and enjoyed the Scenic beauty of Kodaikanal. All these four days event, every Participant actively involved, participated and had a great new learning experience. On the last day everybody bid farewell to each other and felt very sad for leaving their good friends and their companionship. During the Valedictory Ceremony my name was announced as “An Outstanding Winner Jasmine Girl for The Year 2017” on my overall performance of the event. I was really surprised and delighted that, I got the best recognition among 114 Participants. The day was most memorable and one of the “Red Letter Days” in my life. In these four days, I had great learning experiences, unforgettable moments and bagful of sweet memories. In this Connection I sincerely thank the Host Chapter, for their arrangements and hospitality is simply superb and exemplary. I also thank all the participants for their friendliness and affection. My grateful thanks to our Zone IV Chaperon Jcrt Vydehi from JCI Kakinda Port for her care and concern towards me every moment At this juncture, I would like to appeal to our honorable Jaycee Members, those who have children between the ages of 13 and 16 to send their children to the JASMINE Program which helps them to build their Self Confidence, to see the New World and also make their Dreams Come True in life. With these reflections I conclude that JASMINE is like JASMINE FLOWER. Jclt. K. Lasya Priya Outstanding Winner Jasmine Girl -2017 - Kodikanal D/o. Jc. K.Krishna Murthy Jci Tirupati – Zone IV.

Fund ka Funda A CREATIVE WAY OF FUND RAISING FOR JCI ACTIVITIES
-Jc Sunil Gangwani Zone Vice President JCI India Zone VII Many LOMs are facinng with the problem of being unable to afford social activities or programs of National Importance. Fund ka Funda is an attempt to address the important issues of fund raising for JCI LOMs; emphasizing the notion of the program for fundraising and, importantly executing a project for real JCI Impact in the society. JCI is working with United Nationals for Sustainable Development Goals and keeping the same thought with reference to each LOM should focus not on shortterm solutions, but on creating lasting change that empowers communities to work through their difficulties together and help as many people as possible, for as long as possible. We as a JCI member or LOM would like to raise funds and have big plans, but for all small or large fundraising activities we should be clear and firm in 1. Objective, 2. Time frame, 3. Communication (Message and Target) and 4. Activities, as well as Goal for fundraising and, have shared with all the stakeholders. Fundraising plan is an important tool for a JCI LOM to raise funds to support JCI local mission. Because there is a competition with others not for profit organizations for donors' rupee is fierce, and we need to work more than just directly asking for contributions. JCI LOM should create value for donors to raise the fund in the form of shows and events, business partnership, exploring digital media and new avenues for fundraising, sharing our own story creatively-and, last but not the least thanking the donors for their support and contributions. Fund ka Funda would like to share some of the creative fundraising projects with you are 1. Pasti Collection (Collection of Old Newspaper) Now you may be thinking that what amount a Pasti Collection raise for a LOM or how can it be useful to implement a project like Suraksha or Sujal. Let's have an example: A LOM is having 25 members, of which 20 (80%) members are living in different societies or colonies and each member can influence and coordinate with at least 10 neighbours to donate Pasti (old newspapers) on a monthly basis. This will give us 220 homes (200 neighbors and 20 members also) to contribute say 15kg of Pasti each month total 3300kg of Pasti can be collected, and with 80% efficiency, i.e. Actually, at 65% (80% of 80%) efficiency, we can collect 2640 kg of pasti, having a price of Rs.12/kg can raise just Rs.31680 a month and in a year we can raise hoping Rs.380,000/- in a year which can have 10 Sujal, Foundation contribution, Promotion, Marketing, and many other activities for a year. One can also think of jeans or winter wear collection project also, we just need an idea along with action to install Sujal for JCI Impact! 2) Connect a Store this one is a formal way of fundraising and good for LOMs registered as a Society or Trust Act as well. These LOMs can have an agreement with the retailer (shopkeeper, food joint, local theatre, mall and all business associates) in town (to start with JCI member stores in retail business) to give an option to customer to donate an amount of Rs. 1 or Rs. 2 or Rs. 5 as may be mutually decided either
per bill or per 1000 to them, and at the end of each month, store owner will transfer the fund to JCI LOM. Let's have an example: A local store having a medium size grocery and general store with computerized billing (actually mandatory after GST regime) has 100 customers (billing customers) visit a day, and they are ready to donate Rs.1/- for each bill and a LOM get connect only 15 shopkeepers in a town for the same, can raise Rs.1500/- a day which will be Rs.37,500/- a month (considering Sunday is a holiday at the store) and in a year a LOM can raise Rs. 450,000/ in a year and a LOM need to issue a receipt of such payments to a store for taxation purpose, This amount can create the impact on Adopted School along with Samadhan, Suraksha, Sujal, NLTS for all students, contribution to JCI Foundation, Promotion, Marketing lots of other activities for the year. Just change your thought process and I'm sure your life will be changed, we just need to challenge the challenges of fundraising 3) Fund a Dinner, this is a great way of fundraising with food, masti, and dhamaal during the festive days. It can be organized as an annual event of LOM or twice a year in summer and winter. A Dinner (or Lunch or Breakfast) with Rs.200 per person and having the entry for 200 persons can easily generate a fund of Rs. 40,000/- and since the event will witness good footfall at a venue can generate the sponsorship of Rs.60,000/- from various stalls, exhibition, posters, and banners at the venue. Now you will be thinking, how to arrange delicious dinner for 200 people in just Rs.200 and that too attractive. It's simple, just organized a cookery competition for citizens, food show by local food joints, and various ventures in town. Let's take an example: If 50 participants come with creative food for the competition, give them the category of starter, main course to dessert and register them for respective category and define the minimum quantity as 400 grams to bring for competition, which will easily serve 2 people approx. These participants will directly be able to serve 100 people, and another 100 people will be served by sponsors, food shows, and other counters. Along with the name and fame in the local community, this event can raise around Rs.50,000/- for a LOM to create 360â ° IMPACT. Food in India can facilitate fundraising for a cause and make a JCI Impact along with talk of the town PR project. For each project, we must have a theme, a good & clear message to communicate that society can feel proud to get associated with JCI and share with nears and dears to say, 'I have contributed money to the JCI project', or, 'I donated money for this program'. Are you feeling the inspiration? Ready to start fundraising and achieve your funding goals? How exciting. I can also make you discover the almost inexhaustible resources for fundraising, whether you're a small LOM in a countrywide area or from city needs strategic planning & management, I can help you, as someone has rightly said Fundraising is not about money but all about communication of inspiration.

JASMINE - The fragrance of Youth Senator Mita Agarwal National Trainer, JCI Designer Pilot JASMINE North II, Baroda, 2017 PP JCI Kota Surbhi Zone V Today all of us are looking forward for a better India. Youth is full of energy, imagination. It's the young age when one takes most decisions with passion, power, and belief that they are the best and that they can do the best. The need of the hour is to realize that the youth is strongest resource on earth, above the earth and below the earth. The world for the past centuries has sprung, stumbled, got up and dusted itself and cantered, sometimes lurched on… but today is looking up at youth and saying it's time to Impact... it's time to fly. A right key can open a heavy door... Key to success is youth and the key to failure is not to believe this. 'JASMINE' (Jaycees Academy of Smart Initiative for Empowerment) is one of the most premium training workshops for young children where they can meet themselves and the energy within them. JASMINE is an opportunity and a platform for the youth to showcase their talents. We believe that each participant is unique with an ability to make a positive difference… whether the participant is quite or outspoken, confident or hesitant, self motivated or needs encouragement. JASMINE is about how all of us together can do miracles, what makes leadership effective, the power of communication, the creativity, the innovation and the challenges that come across. Its a three and half day workshop which includes training sessions in all areas to motivate the participants to be a confident personality. The faculty team puts their best efforts to guide the kids develop confidence to keep up with competition, challenges and values in tough times. They need to know their Strengths and Weaknesses, the Opportunities and threats.
social media is to improve our life not to be our life. JASMINE at Baroda was also special as we had presence of vibrant leaders and mentors. The Host team worked with full energy and enthusiasm to make it the best experience for participants. I experienced that the idea, imaginations and thoughts of participants were very powerful to bring a positive change. India is a nation of youth and we can't afford to dream small. We need to help them to dream, dream BIG and believe in their dreams. The youth today feels that life does not end up with me and my life. They know the difference between history reader and history maker: the decisions and actions he takes when he's young. Sustainability is A Sacred Thought Where should I go… Left... or right. To left where there is no right or Right where there is no Left. Exactly such confusion might be there amongst the restless but dynamic youth today. We as individuals, an organization, act as a catalyst and channelize the energy, enlighten them and develop opportunities to create a sustainable Impact. The capacity being there, it has to come from within an individual…. the need to serve... the desire to help... the sense of responsibility. Let's come together… and watch these gems unite together and see how they glow in a necklace... in this most exclusive training JASMINE. Let's focus the positive … the youth and the Impact will be felt. Your life has a purpose Your story is important Your dreams count Your voice matters Youth were born to make an Impact… So... Never miss an opportunity to join JASMINE.
JASMINE 2017, Baroda was truly an amazing experience as we all got to learn a lot. JASMINE at Baroda with 84 participants from different Zones were vibrant with power to imagine, think and pen down the change they wish, also how they can contribute to make a Better India. At the same time I noticed that they were very sensitive when they cried in the last session “Stay connected” a session on Relationships. They promised that they would care for their parents, family, friends and people around them. They enjoyed morning workout sessions, games, dance, creativity session, teamwork, leadership, master chef contest, role play session, cultural evening, sightseeing, Jasmine Dance and so much more... these children have tremendous energy, if encouraged and given right direction can do miracles. They also realized that use of Let's all Build a Better Future.
