Our Best Practices What can be added to Project Report? We do many events/training/programs in JCI. However reporting is crucial not just to help us in getting recognitions, rewards and awards, but also in understanding where we can further improve our activities. Also giving due recognition to the people who strived for the success of event, who graced the event or who empowered us is something we should not miss out in our report. Keeping all such things in view, A poster is prepared and launched that lists out what all can actually go into a Project Report once an event is done. Poster was prepared by JFM S Ravi Kanth Reddy, Project Chairperson, Our Best Practices as part of Our Best Practices project by JCI Vizag - a project which intends to bring out and share good practices with all LOs across the globe.

Save Water Water is a scarce resource which is essential for all living beings. We call it as lifeblood in English and

జీవన దాయని

in Telugu. There is water everywhere, in the air, clouds, oceans and inside the

earth. Yet, we are short of fresh water. There is an increase in demand for fresh water due to increase in population and we are on a thirsty planet. As per United States Geological Survey there is a Worldwide shortage of fresh water. 70% of earth is covered with water out of which 97% is salt water and 3% is freshwater. In this 3% of fresh water, less than 1% is readily available. Water conservation efforts are required to address the scarcity. We must all do our part to reduce water consumption. The below are some simple actions from every one of us which could save water.

Indoor Saving Kitchen : Wash

your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.

Thaw frozen foods in refrigerator. Wash dishes with lower flow. Run full loads of dishes in the dishwasher and full loads of laundry or adjust water level to match the size of load. This can save upto 1000 gallons per month.

Bathroom: Turn water off when brushing teeth, shaving or washing hair in the shower. Control water when showering Install water saving shower heads. This practice saves 10 to 18 liters each session. By taking a shower for 5 minutes or less you can save up to 4,500 liters of water per month.

Outdoor Check all hoses, connectors, and faucets regularly for leaks. Attach Nozzles with a shutoff valve to end of hoses. Consider installing drip irrigation. Don’t leave water running. Report leaks promptly to concerned party.

Catch Rainwater :

Water your plants during cool parts of the day. Adjust water schedule as your

garden matures. Check sprinkler systems for problems regularly. Plant water conserving plants. Use 2 to 4 inches of organic mulch around plants to reduce evaporation and save hundreds of gallons of water a year. Plan to reuse recycled water.
