Message from Editor

This Ninth edition of Niranthar, JCI Vizag's Monthly Bulletin is a special edition dedicated to JCI Vizag’s flagship event, the 19th edition of Special Olympics 2023.

Started in 2000 with just 100 participants from 12 schools. Over the past 23 years, 18 editions of the event have been organized. Continuing the legacy of conducting An Annual Sports Meet for Special Children, Team 2023 has organized the 19th Edition of Special Olympics is hotsed with 500+ participants, 250+ Parents & Teachers with the support of Kindhearted Sponsors, Past Presidents, Advisors and the entire members of JCI Vizag and volunteers from entire JCI Family.

UNSDG Goals observed during Special Olympics 2023: SDG 2 – ZERO HUNGER, SDG 3 – GOOD HEALTH & WELL-BEING, SDG 5 – GENDER EQUALITY, SDG 10 – REDUCED INEQUALITIES, SDG 12 – RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION.

The Rolling Trophy Winner

A rolling shield that has been awarded every year to the school that has the best participation in all areas of sporting events since the start of the “Special Olympics” in 2000. This year’s rolling trophy is awarded to the school –“Association Sai Korian – Campus Challenge”.

PROTOCOLS OBSERVED IN THE EVENT

The project was executed as per the “JCI ACTION FRAMEWORK”, from analysing the Root Cause to Executing and reviewing it. Everybody was made sure to pay utmost respect and attention while Hoisting the National Flag and reciting the National Anthem.

All the participants, guests, and other visitors were standing Erect and Alert while the National Flag was being lowered down in the evening. We ensured the National Flag was handled with care, dignity, preserving and storing the flag as per the protocols.

All the event-related announcements and cultural performances from the loud speaker were halted and muted briefly while a nearby mosque recited Azaan (Public Prayer) twice, to pay respect to other communities and its activities also promoting Global Peace and harmony. The Event was a Zero-Waste Project, contributing to a cleaner environment and less wastage.

The entire event was in compliance with the Chairmanship and Parliamentary Procedures as per the Constitution of JCI.

The UNSDGGOALS OBSERVED

2 – ZERO HUNGER – All the participants and attendees were made sure to receive food, water, and refreshments in a timely manner and no person was left behind.

3 – GOOD HEALTH & WELL-BEING – All the sporting events were conducted to promote the good health and well-being of the specially-abled participants.

5 – GENDER EQUALITY – The sporting events, cultural activities, and awards are made sure to accommodate all genders equally – giving them the chance to participate in everything fairly, without any bias or discrimination.

10 – REDUCED INEQUALITIES – The Special Olympics 2023 is an event, designed to celebrate and cherish the triumph of the specially-abled communities and their needs and create awareness in society

12 – RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION – All the food & refreshments were arranged according to the total number of people in the event, ensuring that there is zero wastage and proper consumption. The event procurements were also produced as per a planned requirement.
