Shower and tub/shower walls to be a smooth, hard,nonabsorbent surface (e.g., ceramic, tile, or fiberglass) over moisture resistant underlayment (e.g., cement, fiber, or glass mat gypsum backer) to a height 72 inches above the drain inlet. Please note, water-resistant gypsum backing board shall not be used over a vapor retarder in shower or bathtub compartments. CRC R 307.2 and R 702.3.7. 5. Doors and panels of shower enclosure to be fully tempered, laminated safety glass, or approved plastic. CRC R 308.4.5. New shower construction shall meet CPC Section 408.0 and CRC R 306. 6. Shower and tub/shower control valves shall be pressure balancing/thermostatic. Maximum flow rate of shower heads = 1.8 GPM per CPC 411.2 and 2016 Cal-Green. 7. A humidity control may separate component to the exhaust fan.
