Design Concept Built in 1921, this extraordinary Mediterranean style estate built for socialite and cereal heiress, Marjorie Merriweather Post and her then husband E.F. Hutton, by society architect Marion Sims Wyeth. The grounds and residence are romantic and engaging by retaining the classic historical design, the landscape frames the house as they both take you to an era of grace and beauty. The planting plan was done to create views from differing rooms and create privacy as the property is surrounded on three sides by the exclusive Everglades Club golf course. Design Concept An internationally acclaimed architect designs a residence the is an exquisite jewel that opens to the Biscayne Bay and blurs the edge of the interior and the exterior. The planting plan becomes a support player to bring nature in and envelope the home. Because of the size of the home tree mitigation and planning became as an important as the planting plan itself. The project was approved on first submittal. Landscape Architectural Designer | 2021

Design Concept The following project involved digitally designing and manually building models in SketchUp, helping me understand the spatial relationships between the horizontal and vertical elements and Interstates within the urban environment. Extensive GIS siteRoad analysis, AutoCAD ground truthing, and Photoshop rendering were needed to develop the complex sites. Even though it is an existing site we started from just google captures. Design Concept The massing study shows the shaded promenade that skirts the park at the lower level. The promenade also contains shops and is designed at a scale intended for human comfort. Then the scale steps up to the higher density to take advantage of the view of the park and Paynes Prairie to the south. Design Concept The University of Florida planning was driven by internally written code and did not connect Gainesville’s fabric. The University and Gainesville have grown around each other without a shared vision between the two entities, outside of Innovation Square’s development. The City of Gainesville has lacked a city-wide vision and comprehensive planning initiatives, other than through the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). This plan pushes forward a cohesive design. Design Concept The proposal included circulation, drainage, wetland restorations, community parks, and recreational centers. A topographically complex and physically large site with multiple cultural and historic priorities provided the study area with many design issues to be solved and conceptualized. Despite the challenges, this study abroad project was an incredible experience and a wonderful learning opportunity with an outcome for positive change. Landscape Architectural Designer | 2021

Over the next several months, the Dignity Village homeless camp developed piecemeal just outside the shelter and social services center. Now, a group of University of Florida urban planning and landscape architecture students have recommended a long-term master plan they say will help the property function more like a true campground, while increasing resources for those seeking to transition out of homelessness. Unveiled at the Grace Marketplace chapel Tuesday afternoon, the plan calls for 240 individual camp sites, each with a 15-by-15 foot tent pad, in six separate zones. Their proposal included 48 Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sites, utilities such as water and electricity, bathhouse buildings for showers and restrooms, and paths through the site to allow police and emergency vehicles to move through more easily.

It also recommended better security lighting, grading the land and digging retention ponds to combat standing water and flooding problems, a community garden, more native plants and an additional access point to Grace Marketplace, which is separated from the campground by a long stretch of fence. Jessica Leonard, who was part of the site design team for the project, said the goal was to make Dignity Village “a more livable space.” The students’ presentation did not include a cost estimate for the recommended improvements to the area, which the city of Gainesville manages and oversees.
