SUNDAYMORNINGCOMMUNITIES

Communities will wrap-up on Sunday, May 22nd to take a break for the summer months and will resume on Sunday, September 11th.

Visitors are always welcome to come and check out the First Hour Community. We are a multi-generational group focused on the study and application of God's Word along with time for food, fellowship, and prayer. A typical Sunday will feature a Bible study from either the Old or New Testament as well an occasional visit from one of our missionaries or other special guest. This winter and spring we are working through Paul's letter to the Ephesians and discovering its implications for our lives. We also include special times of fellowship, such as a brunch, and we provide opportunities to serve with others in the group in a variety of outreaches aimed at connecting with the wider community beyond the church itself. Being part of a Community (either first-hour or second-hour) is a great way to become more integrated into Meadowbrook Church.

Certalic/Purcell Community

Women's Ministry at Meadowbrook invites all women to join them in discovering who Jesus is and how their life can become a reflection of his. They provide regular Bible study throughout the school year and host social events and service projects as well. For more information, please contact Jen Akin at jakin@mbctosa.org.

Contact Brooke Fossell at bafossell@sbcglobal.net to submit a request or if you have questions.

PRAYERMINISTRY

am

Sunday Morning/10:30AM/Meadowbrook/Rm 206 Contact: Kimberly Purcell New Life Community is a very relational, multi-generational mix of married and singles that begins each Sunday praying for the needs of the group. Following this, the group studies a book of the Bible. In September, the Certalic/Purcell community will continue their study of the Book of Genesis that had begun in January, taking one chapter per week. The group is discussion oriented, studying each chapter to see what members learn about God and themselves, and where we can find hope and encouragement in each chapter. Several members of the community take turns facilitating the class each week.

The Elders are implementing a discipleship program to develop future elders at Meadowbrook. We will be using a book entitled “Biblical Eldership—An Urgent Call to Restore Biblical Church Leadership” by Alexander Strauch as well as its accompanying workbook. This summer, the Elders will be working through the material and studying God’s Word regarding the role of elders. The intention is to launch a class in the Fall to teach and disciple others in eldership, preparing those who are interested in leadership. The class will take about a year. If you are interested in the Fall class, please fell free to call or email Marvin Suson at 414-531-6751 or marv@marvinsuson.com or any of the elders.

GET CONNECTED

New to Meadowbrook or just looking to learn a little about us and perhaps make some connections with others? This is a good place to start! Get Connected groups form periodically and meet for three-tofour weeks on Sunday mornings, providing you with an opportunity to learn about the mission and ministries of Meadowbrook, meet some of our key leaders, and get ideas about what might be next. If this sounds good, contact Dick Adam (adamfam@tds.net) or Tony Stewart (tony.stewart@zimmer.com) or make a note on one of our connection cards & drop it in the offering plate.

DISCOVERY CLASS

Part of our mission at Meadowbrook Church is to provide opportunities for you to DISCOVER who Jesus is and what a life with him looks like. Our DISCOVERY class is the beginning of these steps. We encourage those who are exploring the Christian faith or are simply new to Meadowbrook to begin by joining this class on Sunday mornings. It is a wonderful way to learn more about the church and begin to make connections with others in the congregation. For more information, please contact Scott Hoggatt at scott.hoggatt@gmail.com or Tom Cooper at coopfam2004@att.net.

CAFEKOINONIA

The smell of freshly roasted and ground coffee beans. A relaxed atmosphere filled with the rustling of quiet conversations and close relationships. There is so much more to a coffee house than just coffee … there is fellowship.

"Koinonia," comes from a Greek word that means to share in something, to participate, to have unity and togetherness, or fellowship. Whether you are new to Meadowbrook or have been coming for years, Café Koinonia offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and serves as a way to make visitors feel welcome. It emphasizes our commitment to community. It is a great place to hang out with new people and close friends. Café Koinonia serves a variety of hot coffee choices beginning at 8:30AM. After 10AM you can also find iced drinks, baked goods, tea and lemonade available until closing time at 11:45AM. In addition to all those choices, you can sign up to become a "Coffee Club" member, receiving monthly your own stash of our Meadowbrook Blend. Café Koinonia serves the best Stone Creek Coffee has to offer as featured in our monthly coffee selections. Café Koinonia, is FREE. We want visiting people to feel welcome and nothing does that better than a free snack or beverage. That being said, Café Koinonia is a self-sustaining ministry and donations are always welcome! Your gifts and donations provide for the visitors and guests of the church and for that we thank you for your participation in the on-going ministry of invitation at Meadowbrook Church. We look forward to seeing you in the Café!

FILL THE CUP Café Koinonia Renovation Project Over the last three years, Café Koinonia has grown significantly as a ministry. They have expanded their menu, increased their hours of operation, grown their volunteer team and have continued to seek ways to be a place of service, connection and community. As the ministry has grown, the team’s vision has as well. Traditionally a service to Meadowbrook regulars, the team desires to press into the mission of Meadowbrook by inviting our visitors into a warm atmosphere where they can easily connect with others. As the vision began to expand, it became clear that by renovating the main floor lobby to include the Café, their team would be able to meet and serve visitors better. In addition, it would help ease the heavy traffic flow on the lower level and the need for our NextGen Ministry to expand their classroom space. This renovation also would provide some opportunity for new ministry. Perhaps a place for small groups to meet, local college students to study, or parents to hang out as their kids participate at a NextGen event. Most of all, it seeks to connect with the mission of Meadowbrook by being a place of invitation where community can grow. The Meadowbrook Elders and Café Koinonia Team want to invite you to participate in this exciting new project by supporting the expansion and giving to the Café Koinonia Renovation Project. If you would like to contribute to the fund please write “café” in the memo section of your check and send it to Café Koinonia 1025 N. 70th St. Wauwatosa, WI 53213. You may also place your designated gift in the offering plate on Sunday.
