hello Hooray! I am so excited to be sharing this second issue of my magazine with you! I must admit that navigating the ins & outs of running a magazine has not been without its challenges, and I am so grateful for your patience and understanding as I continue to refine the process, especially as it relates to distribution. The letters I have received from readers have been wonderful and so encouraging! I am beyond thrilled that this magazine resonates with so many people. What a blessing! In this issue we are exploring the beauty of Blue-and-White — from china to decor to art, we are celebrating it in its many forms. If you are a Jane Austen fan like me, I hope you will enjoy the tablescape on page 38, inspired by stencils! There is an amazing barn dance, some wonderful garden projects, great food, gorgeous spaces, inspiring stories, getaway ideas, and more. Truly, something for everyone. I believe in the importance of finding beauty in our everyday lives and have tried to bring just that into yours with this issue. I hope you are blessed! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me in Celebrating Everyday Life.

My favourite Summer treat has to be funnel cake with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce on top. It's the perfect way to end a long day at the amusement park!

I have to say stopping and smelling the roses, literally... Smells are so evocative and bring up lots of memories. The scent of Phlox sends me right back to the garden of my childhood and elderflower blossom reminds me of heady midsummer days... pure bliss.

My favorite summer treat is scooping out the heart of an ice cold watermelon with a spoon and eating it right from the melon. No bowl required!

I look forward to the long lazy days of summer so I can relax on my vintage turquoise glider while sipping a margarita on the rocks with plenty of coarse sea salt on the rim. An ice cream cone covered in chocolate jimmies is a close second!

My favorite treat is a really good fruit and herb infused iced tea.

My favorite summer treat is making homemade ice cream in our White Mountain ice cream freezer! We do this often during the summer.

My favorite summer treat is hands down an ice cream sandwich. Preferably from an ice cream truck!

A summer treat for me is spending a sunny day with my husband, Dave, at one of the UK's lovely coasts. When the weather's good, we often enjoy eating Fish 'n' Chips on the beach for dinner.

When I visited in the summertime, my grandmother would make me my favorite treat: strawberry shortcake. The strawberries didn't come from a farm, and the topping was out of a Cool Whip tub. Still, when I eat strawberry shortcake, it makes me feel favored.

My favorite summer treat is a twist vanilla cone, with rainbow sprinkles of course, bought at the Custard Hut on Long Beach Island, NJ. And while we eat ice cream cones, we attempt to hula hoop!

My favorite summer treat is a giant, sloppy piece of sun warmed watermelon straight from the garden sprinkled with some chunky kosher salt!

There is something about the taste of a fresh sweet (and chilled) cantaloupe that instantly reminds me of summertime... I love the cool refreshing chunks in fruit salad at a picnic or simple slices at the beach that put me in the mood for all the goodness that comes along with the sunny season of summer.

One of my favorite summer treats is a Mojito Popsicle. Mint+Lime+Rum = a delicious refreshment.

Lisa TutmanOglesby www.celebrate-creativity.com I must admit, I still run for the ice cream truck when I hear it. That's because I love those red, white and blue, rocket-shaped popsicles with their refreshing lemony flavor. It leaves my lips and tongue blue but it's oh, so worth it.

Karianne Wood www.thistlewoodfarms.com My favorite summer treat is a tall glass of iced tea with lime served in my favorite milk glass tumblers.

LAVENDER Lavender is the queen of fragrance and anything but a princess in the garden. Full of calming scent, she is a boon to any flower bed or herb plot, and a natural crafting supply that you simply can't beat! I use lavender all year long, fresh from the garden in late summer and dried throughout the rest of the seasons. words and photos by amy renea

Herb

GARDEN

Markers

Herb gardening is at the heart of many a small-scale, green-thumb effort. Making sure the Basil, Parsley and Thyme plants (among others) are clearly labeled has never been easier or more fun than with homemade garden markers. Combine vintage spoons with a love for creating simple beauty, and what you’ll get are delightful, handcrafted items that are sure to help any herb garden shine. {Project instructions on pages 128-129} words and photos by lisa tutman-oglesby
