Volunteer Events
Beautifying Rhodes Park
We joined the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department in beautifying Rhodes Park. Volunteers picked up litter to make the local park shine a little brighter.

Gladden Community House
Gladden Community House is a settlement house located in the heart of Franklinton on the near west side of Columbus. A mission-driven nonprofit agency, Gladden offers a broad range of social services to strengthen the well-being of Franklinton’s children, families, and community, helping to build a thriving equitable neighborhood.
We volunteered at Gladden House’s annual Halloween event, running activity booths and game stations for children to play and collect candy, helping to provide a safe, indoor area to enjoy the fun of trick-or-treating.
We volunteered at Gladden House’s after school program, leading children through the process of baking chocolate chip cookies, mixing up dough with a side of life skills while having a blast. Children were able to go home with their cookies along with new knowledge about kitchen tips and career options.
Kaleidoscope Youth Center
We joined Besa, a Columbus nonprofit that helps coordinate volunteering, to write notes of encouragement to LGBTQIA+ Youth at Kaleidoscope Youth Center. This was a month-long event in which volunteers could write letters and cards to share words of positivity, strength, and motivation to Central Ohio youth and their families.
The A&F Challange
We joined the A&F Challenge, a music festival and fundraiser dedicated to supporting and empowering each generation and their journey to being and becoming who they are. Volunteers helped wayfind and serve drinks to festival attendees.
Columbus Humane
We joined Columbus Humane in their mission to fight animal cruelty, help animals in need, and advocate for their well being by loading vans with food and treats for their food assistance program.
WISH
We joined Besa, a local volunteer organization in Columbus, for their annual event of collecting and delivering gifts to local seniors. Volunteers signed up to purchase and wrap gifts for local seniors.
Franklinton Farms
We joined Franklinton Farms, an urban network of gardens and food production sites, for a day of farm maintenance, assisting with general garden upkeep including weeding, harvesting, and preparing garden beds.
Mid-Ohio Food Collective
We joined Mid-Ohio Food Collective for a food packing project, helping to pack grocery boxes with staples like cereals, juices, and canned goods to share with local families in need.

Strawberry Jam
In collaboration with our friends at Land-Grant Brewing, we hosted our fifth annual Strawberry Jam—a family-friendly, picnic-style party that marks the annual release of our Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream and the start of summer. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we doubled the fun and expanded the festivities to two days with food, drinks, live music, family friendly activities, and local vendors. 8,000 of our closest friends came out to celebrate throughout the weekend, making the return of the community event something special that we won’t ever forget.

Great American Speaker Series
Our ongoing Great American Speaker Series provides a forum for Team Jeni’s to continue learning. A cross-functional group of employees selected three speakers and a member of the team to interview the featured guest in front of the company. Every year this series brings our team together in meaningful ways—and the powerhouses we hosted this year inspired and motivated us to be a force for good.
Temple Grandin
Dr. Temple Grandin is a scientist and professor at Colorado State University in Equine Science. An expert in the area of humane treatment of livestock, Dr. Grandin designed a curved chute system that promotes a more calming experience for cattle. Her design is used in half of all the cattle farms in the United States. Dr. Grandin is also well known for being a high-functioning person with autism. Her ability to communicate the ways in which she processes information through pictures in her mind has been key to helping the world to be better equipped to embrace, understand, and fully value autism.

Daryl Davis
Daryl Davis is a musician by trade—one who has played with the likes of Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and B.B. King, to name a few—but he’s an activist at heart. You might say the former is his day job and the latter is his life’s work. In an effort to understand the roots of hate and extremism, Davis has befriended leaders of the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups, choosing to meet extreme hate with extreme civility, learning in the process that the power of conversation has the ability to build bridges between people who don’t agree on the most fundamental of matters. In many instances, Klan leaders and others he engaged with went on to denounce their old beliefs. Daryl is the subject of the award-winning documentary “Accidental Courtesy,” the author of “Klan-destine Relationships,” a book detailing his extraordinary experiences, and his Ted Talk has over 12 million views.
Selwyn Dias
Selwyn Dias was born in Kenya to Indian parents. At age 13, his parents were forced to move when Kenya won independence from Great Britain, and they immigrated to the United States. The cultural and employment barriers they faced during this transition fueled his desire decades later after a successful career as he worked to bridge the gap between corporate America and immigrants and refugees looking to join the workforce.

Jeni’s Leadership Intensive
While formal plans for a leadership development program began in 2021, the pandemic delayed its launch and May 2022 marked the successful completion of our inaugural Jeni’s Leadership Intensive (JLI) program. JLI’s goal is to cultivate and nurture diverse talent from within Jeni’s current workforce through a week-long summit of university-level coursework around critical subjects such as Public Speaking, Finance, Brand Marketing, Leadership & Management, and Customer Service. All classes were developed and taught by our Chief Officers and Senior Leadership, culminating with a comprehensive capstone project presented by the 12 participants on the final day. All participants fulfilled the requirements and received JLI certification.

Employment Policies
Paid Parental Leave
Eligible birthing parents receive a total of 12 weeks of paid leave. In 2022, birthing parents enjoyed 12 weeks of paid leave with their newborns.
Eligible non-birthing parents receive 4 weeks of paid parental bonding leave (birth, adopt, or foster). In 2022, 3 non-birthing parents enjoyed 4 weeks of paid leave to bond with their new family members.
Paid Honeymoon Leave
In addition to other paid time off benefits, full time employees who get married are eligible for 5 additional paid days off to enjoy a honeymoon. In 2022, 8 employees enjoyed honeymoon leave
Paid Sabbatical
Extraordinary benefit available to all employees (part time ambassador through CEO) can enjoy a 4 week paid sabbatical after every 3 consecutive years of service. In 2022, 60 employees took paid sabbaticals.

Uncle Nearest
Uncle Nearest is a Shelbyville, Tennessee-based distillery that honors the legacy of Nearest Green, the first known African American master distiller. Green taught Jack Daniel the craft of distilling. Each small batch whiskey blend is curated by fifth-generation Green descendant and Master Blender, Victoria Eady Butler. Founded in 2017, Uncle Nearest whiskey has won more than 350 awards, including the title of “World’s Best” by World Whiskies Awards two years in a row.

Partnerships
For Mental Health Awareness Month and the release of our Sunshine flavor, we partnered with On Our Sleeves, to raise awareness of—and increase conversations about—children’s mental health. Our donation of $25,000 helped On Our Sleeves distribute Kindness Kits to 30,000 kids in classrooms nationwide. Each kit included curriculum and activities for children to learn about and practice kindness together.
We re-released Strawberry Pretzel Pie to celebrate the release of Dolly Parton’s new album, “Run, Rose, Run,” offering an exclusive bonus track only available at jenis. com and helping to increase album sales by nearly 3x.
As an extension of our Sunshine campaign, we partnered with cult streetwear brand Lonely Ghost on a limited-edition hoodie inspired by our Sunshine flavor that sold out in about 1 minute.

We collaborated with the puzzle masters at Piecework on Happy Spoons, a 1,000-piece puzzle featuring an array of our signature spoonheads in past and present flavors.
We partnered with Uncle Nearest on a new version of our Boozy Eggnog ice cream. Launched in 2017, Uncle Nearest was created to pay homage to Nearest Green, the first known African American master distiller. Green is also credited with teaching Jack Daniel how to make Tennessee whiskey.
We partnered with Columbus’ LandGrant Brewing on the triumphant return of Strawberry Jam, our community festival celebrating Ohio’s strawberry season and the annual release of our Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream. Land-Grant brewed a special strawberry milkshake IPA for the occasion, the latest installment in their series of beer releases inspired by our ice cream.
