We are incredibly excited to donate this calf in support of the Alberta Junior Shorthorn Association. The junior programs are near and dear to our hearts and is the future of the seed stock industry. 12M is a gentle natured calf that is big ribbed and soft made. She is out of a solid big footed cow and I’m sure she will fit in wherever she ends up.

DONATION HEIFER PROCEDURE: The final bid in each round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Example: Round 1Final bid is $300.00 to John Doe. John’s donation is $300.00. Round 2 - Final bid is $250.00 to Tom Jones, Tom’s donation is $250.00. Round 3 - The female is re-auctioned on a downward scale until no further bids are received at the low of $10.00. Each $10.00 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the final draw. (John Doe has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale to the final $10.00 donation worth one chance each.) One ticket for every $10.00 bearing the contributor’s name will be put in the draw barrel. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that person winning the heifer.

Here is a Phantom daughter that is hard to part with… She is the first daughter of 23G, a direct Winegum daughter, who the Phantom mating has worked really well with. Gingersnap 23G has a picture-perfect udder and has a top as straight as a table. 84L possesses a ton of rib shape and capacity while being long-bodied and freewheeling. Her beautiful roan colour only adds to the appeal of the pedigree and phenotype of this girl!

Here’s a calf that is so good looking and has a proven pedigree to go with it. She’s a full sister to a heifer we campaigned last fall that was purchased by the Longhurst family. This one would rival any we’ve produced through her rib and top. If you know our program you know how highly we think of 30C and her progeny and with her embryo production slowing down we may never offer another direct daughter. If you’re in the market for a shorthorn to hang a halter on and have one heck of a fun time this one should be at the top of your list!

This may not be the show heifer from our pen this year but I wouldn’t argue with you if you called her the best cow prospect. So much depth and practicality in a soft made functional package. We love our Big Ticket females and this one is no exception. Out of a hard working two year old that has a bright future. Everyone needs the type that just flat out put money in your pocket and 1M could be your next one to do that!

Macayla is friendly, laid back and would make a great 4H or Junior project for a younger member. She is the natural calf from Stage Show 51A - who bred right back after being flushed a couple times. Again 51A is a top cow with good production, fertility, eye appeal, sound foot and udder who was the top seller at the Prospect Hill Dispersal/Reduction sale. Maternal sisters to Macayla were just named Champion and Reserve Intermediate Heifer calves in a strong Olds Fall Classic show and will be very competitive in the Edmonton Farmfair National Show as well. One of those sisters Mystery 5M sells in this sale as well. Big Mac is an older sire, but was very influential in the development of the Farrars Blue Ridge Shorthorn herd near Mayerthorpe, AB. She is free of all known defects and carries one copy of the E266X myostatin variant.

The power heifer from our flush of Stage Show 51A - lots of growth, length, hip and rib shape in this stylish heifer. In our opinion 51A was the top cow in the Prospect Hills herd with consistently good production and fertility combined with eye appeal, a sound foot and udder. It was no surprise she was the top seller at their Dispersal/Reduction sale. The sire Hot Shot comes from another dominant cow in the Shadybrook herdVeronica 92Y who has accounted for numerous Championships and high selling animals throughout her life. Mystery was recently named Reserve Intermediate Heifer Calf, and a maternal sister named Champion Intermediate in a strong Olds Fall Classic show and both will be very competitive in the Edmonton Farmfair National Show as well. A younger sister Macayla 27M is also catalogued in this sale. Mystery is free of all known defects.

Our first Manhattan calf to hit the ground at Poplar Creek, Brooklyn 1M did not disappoint! A solid red, moderate framed heifer that has maintained her soggy condition all summer long despite the poor pasture conditions once again. She is a carbon copy of her dam - a moderate framed, easy fleshing cow with no shortage of depth and capacity. This heifer has a sweet disposition to boot and would make a great show heifer for a junior down the road.

PROSPECT

Jaina Raye is an attractive moderate framed female. Her Red roan dam is deep and thick! She has shown growth and is a female that should produce high quality calves year after year. Her sire is Prospect Hill Homerun who is a purebred white shorthorn bull that is smooth made. She was palpated for pre-breeding and ready to breed anyway you choose.

Trieber Lassie 22M is an attractive red roan who has shown consistent growth. She is a moderate smooth fronted female. Her dam as a high-performance shorthorn from the Silverwillow herd. We have had success using her sire over the years. With these genetics her calves should have strong characteristics year after year. She was palpated for prebreeding and ready to join any program.

We honestly talked about not selling 84L early on this spring. Her whole life she has been extremely easy fleshing and always a standout. This cow family is known for making the moderate, big bodied kind that can thrive with next to no resources. 84L is a dark cherry red female who looks to be setting a very good udder. The Cruiser offspring have surpassed every expectation and then some. Her service sire is our new PVF Lincoln 27L a son of eighteen seventy two, this is one to get excited about.

This roan heifer has show prospect written all over her. She is out of our homegrown commercial cow, ‘Rachel,’ and goes back to the well-known ‘Dakota Gold’ bull owned by Matt Lautner. Fresh off her debut at the Olds Fall Classic, she earned the title of Reserve Champion Shorthorn Plus Heifer Calf.

This heifer stands out for her smooth front end and impressive overall balance. She exhibits exceptional easy fleshing ability, allowing her to maintain condition on minimal feed. Her depth of body and cleanliness give her a strong maternal appearance, while her length of extension promises growth and performance.

With a pedigree designed for big efficiency and productivity, this heifer will make an excellent addition to any herd, bringing both style and functionality to your breeding program.

A really flashy Plus heifer here sired by the popular calving ease bull JSF Big Ticket. The Big Tickets have a real mother cow look to them with voulme and softness, and the 27K cow is built much the same. We recently had a Big Ticket daughter from the same cow family named Champion Junior Heifer Calf in a strong Olds Fall Classic show, and a maternal sister to 27K was named Reserve Junior. ‘Mags” is another of our heifers that would make a great 4H or Junior project for a younger member as she is gentle and sweet tempered. Magnolia is registered as 75% Shorthorn Plus with her other quarter being from an Angus bull we imported from Montana for use in our Purebred Angus herd.

This one was a special one we hate to part with. Out of a Holly cow family that’s no stranger to our herd or sale rings. A heifer with a ton of extension in her front end and enough muscle and balance to make her a great package. Watch her turn into an impressive brood cow. Both heifer calves are paternal siblings.

This snowy looking white heifer calf is from our daughter Chelsey’s herd. This soft sided heifer will make a good cow in the future. She comes from the great Speckle Park cow Clowny that has produced a 2X Grand Champion Female. Her dam has a uniform udder with a very high milk content. Being a white shorthorn cross she has potential to produce blue roan claves in the future. She was palpated to pre-breeding and is ready to go to work.

Magic Fastfire has a tremendous look and presents herself well. She has shown strong growth and beautiful red roan colouring. She is one of the highest performance calves from our heifer pen. Her Dam is one of our top commercial cows that continues year after year to have amazing milk qualities and a great udder. Her brother last year was in the Final Grand Drive at a 4-H District Show. She is easy to work with and would make a good prospect heifer for any junior member. She has been palpated for pre-breeding and will fit into any program.

Another bred we hate to part with but she’s going to make someone really happy. The Julia Ann cow family has done lots for Riley’s herd and she rarely sells these females. Big rib, bold hip, and with an eye-catching color pattern. Bred to a white bull she’s sure to lay down and have a colored calf! Safe in calf to Shorthorn Select 2024 high seller bull KCC White Lightning.

A maternal relation to 10M you can see the power and quality in the Holly cow family. This bred heifer is super bold sprung, wide chested, long spined and overall, everything we strive for in our cow herd. Safe in calf to Shorthorn Select 2024 high seller Bull KCC White Lightning.

This sweet bred heifer is very easy going and was super easy to halter break. Her personality would make her a great choice for a junior project or any farm with children. We love this female length and how deep ribbed she is. Her Dam 75 has raised many calves that have been chosen for sales and junior projects. She has been ultrasounded with confirmed pregnancy for early March calving. We are excited that she was exposed to our new Shorthorn bull JSF Kane Blaze 63L (AR33229). His sire JSF Byland Flash is a well-known influence in the Shorthorn industry. We are hoping with this bull she will produce a powerhouse blue roan calf. This sweet tempered bred heifer will be a terrific asset to any herd.

After touring the Bishop herd last fall, Pietre 32Z stood out in our eyes. Wendy wouldn’t sell her, so the next best thing was to buy a flush on her. After much deliberation and discussions on what to use as a sire, it was a no brainer - JSF Manhattan 194J ET. The most talked about and used sire in Canada in 2023. Buy with confidence as both sire and dam are bred in the purple.

The second Manhattan calf crop, north and south of the 49th, was as impressive as the first! Manhattan has transferred his impressive traits onto his progeny – structural correctness, massive quarter and hip, along with length of spine. The females are extremely fancy and feminine looking, and the males are masculine with good testicular development. His calves are coming extremely quick and easy, with a lot of growability. It does not matter what color they are coming in – red, white, roan. They are all PLAIN GOOD. We have bred our entire heifer pen to Manhattan, and we are excited once again to see the 2025 calves. Do not pass up the opportunity to access outcross genetics that will enhance your breeding program! Semen is stored at Alta Genetics. Purchaser responsible for all shipping costs.
